They were safe in his garden until you were irresponsible with your mutt and allowed it to be out of control in a public place. You're lucky he never called old bill you'd be up in court with the new dangerous dog laws. Stop trying to share out the blame only person in the wrong in this situation is you why can't you man up and accept it? Think about it like this - if I was your neighbour and one of my bulldogs jumped the fence and killed your mutt would you be blaming yourself for not having it securely penned up? -

No, it's your responsibility to keep your fecking dog off their land! Why didn't you make sure the yard was secure before letting your dog off and leaving it unsupervised? Their yard was obviously secure enough to keep their chickens from wandering, it was your out of control mutt that found a way on to their land. -

The bitch I've got in the house at the moment is like that, she see's anything moving when I've got her out and she's screaming the place down and looking to sink her teeth into the nearest thing. Takes ages to calm down once she's switched on too, can be a handfull sometimes and I'm sure she'd be a liability in the wrong hands but I have to say she's one of my favourite dogs to work with, really keeps me on my toes

Personally i would keep things simple and say that some dogs are simply not suited to the family pet home......and a breed that was never bred to be a pet dog is always going to struggle to adapt to that type of scenario. Never had all these attacks in the news when it was just dogmen keeping bulldogs securely on their yards 100% agree with you, some dogs just shouldn't be in pet homes.

Same here, she starts the German Shepherd off so nobody's coming over our fence. The ridgeback sneaky fooker doesn't make a sound or a move till the perp is in range. Oddly enough only one person has rightfully said he's the one to watch. My old bullmastiff x pit was like that, don't think he wanted to scare off his new toys before he got a chance to play with them best dog I ever owned. A quiet dog is a dog that's confident in their ability to handle the situation, barking is just calling the rest of the pack to help them.

Just out of curiosity what breeds have you been around ?......I havent been around dogs as long as you have but ive seen more than a few that would put the fear of god in you for no other reason than they wanted to........to say no dogs are born bad is not naive its just silly in my opinion as it is to say anything born of nature doesnt have the capability to be born bad.i have been around a fair few breeds, and I have seen dogs that would put the fear of God in you, BUT not a pup, I have never come accross a young pup that would do it, The sire to my current house/guard dog was pretty s

Here we go again ........How romantic !Dogs get labelled as mad or bad because folk can't understand a certain behaviorGuaranteed, this dogs nature as a high temperament breed wasn't been fulfilled Hugely driven dogs in the wrong hands is an accident waiting to happen Dogs don't just turn , they become like a ticking time bomb and unfortunately for this poor woman was in the wrong place when the dog finally boiled over, Dogs certainly don't just turn without showing any warning signs but to say that no dogs are just born evil feckers is naive at best.

No difference at all, in fact it is only a small amount clamed compared to milliplonkers inheritance tax dodge One is exploiting a loophole in the tax law, all perfectly legal and above board (George Osbourne himself even advocated using it on national TV) the other is expenses fraud, so tell me how there's no difference at all? ands entirely true with no exag

I often see Malinois recommended as yard dogs but I don't agree with it TBH, these are serious working dogs that go mental without a real job to do, pacing around in a yard all day just doesn't cut it for them IMO. Collie or cattle dog would be a good fit, alert as anything, noisy and often quite likely to bite too. If he wants something that looks a bit more intimidating a EBT could do the job? Or what about a Kerry Blue? Knew a few nasty fecker Kerrys that were used as yard dogs back in the day... My old mam has a wee SBT/JRT thing as a watchdog, he may be little but he's a great ala

Not ashamed to say your poem brought a tear to my eye. I had a mate in primary school with Downs, never known a sweeter or more kindhearted person. Sadly he died age 13, still think about him a lot.

A so-called "guardian breed" might be slightly more likely to do the job depending on the lines it comes from but you'd be mad to trust it to protect you and yours without any training. You can't expect a dog to just naturally know what people are ok to bite, especially if 99% of their life they've been told not to act aggressively toward any people. Honestly unless your dog has been properly trained it's really unlikely to actually defend your home from intruders especially if you're not there, you've spent its whole life teaching it to be subservient to the humans it meets you can't expect it to realise that situation is different, the amount of burglars that have been greeted with wagging tail by the big bad "natural guardian" dog that puts on a good show from behind the gate is silly. A big dog barking is usually enough of a deterrent you just have to hope no one actually tests it

No, 40 years ago it would of been brushed under the carpet because it wasn't "decent" to discuss these sort of things, that's the attitude that made these cover-ups possible. Society as a whole has made a lot of progress with how we think about and deal with sexual abuse in the last 40 years.
