Avoided/absorbed whats the difference one way or another he took punches off some of the hardest punchers in history and found ways to beat them i dont know whats to think he wouldnt of done the same with a man much smaller and slower than himself........an old boy i respected once told me Marciano had a plan a........Ali had plans a,b,c and d ! Walcott wasnt past his prime ?.... in the rematch he was knocked out in the first round and retired how much more past his prime can he be same with Louis.... Marciano caught them both at the end of long hard careers and they never fought again after

At the end of the day Mankind are a set of horrible b*****ds, it is what it is I'm afraid and always will be. Peace is best left to the hippies cos it ain't never gonna happen in the real world...

yeah, his story didn't add up at all....he knew what he was doing...and all that pathetic crying in court... Exactly, same on that interview they did with him the other night. When questions get tricky he turns on the waterworks, I just wanna strangle him till his eyeballs pop out.

While there is still oil in the ground? TC Nuke em first then we have no comebacks, simple.... You cant really believe that I'm sure they'd do the same to us if roles were reversed.

Shavers could bang no doubt but wasn't the best of finishers, outside Ken Norton and Jimmy Ellis who did he actually knockout....

If it was my daughter is life expectancy would be 5 years maximum, he'd be in a morgue soon after being released that's for sure. His story of events is beyond comical, be better off in a fantasy film.....

I wouldn't say Ali took Foreman's best shots to the head, Ali avoided most of his shots throughout the fight. Foreman was completely gassed by the eighth round, Marciano could keep a ferocious pace for the full 15. I don't agree that Walcott was past his prime, he might have been physically past his peak but as a complete fighter he was arguably at his best. I think Ali beats him but I wouldn't bet my house on it, both were great fighters.

n ow your talking shavers had hell of a punch on him, he bust ali jaw in there fight, and ali as always said he was the hardest puncher he ever faced . some men are just naturally strong punchers at what weight they are, when idone bit of boxing and karate , i could knock down blokes good couple stone heavier than me easy, but as they say good strong big'un , will always beat a good strong little'un deff . It was Norton who broke Ali's jaw although Shavers had him badly hurt at one point. This was an Ali who should have been long retired. Marciano had the power when it counted, Sh

Ive never really understood what reason there could have ever been to think Marciano would of troubled Ali every advantage both physical and mental a fighter could have Ali had over Marciano from 30 lb in weight to 5 or 6 inches height probably 10 inches reach, speed of hand and foot,movement......probably the only quality they really stack up close for is durability and punch resistance but would Marciano of got near him....personally i think Ali would of peppered him and forced a stoppage but everyone sees fights different.Ali mentioned that all of his punches hurt when they did those mock fi

Joe Louis was a bit of a plodder, he might have tagged Ali and dropped him early on but Ali had amazing recuperative skills, he would run rings around Louis and stop him late IMO. Saying that if Joe Lois dropped Ali like Henry Copper did there's a good chance he gets the knockout as he was arguably the greatest finisher of all times. Marciano was differnt, he wasn't no speedster but is defensive subtleties were underrated. Squatting low and coming underneath he wasn't easy to hit cleanly. Ali struggled with the only top class swarmer he faced in Frazier. Marciano wasn't quite as quick as

Showed how tough he was in that fight though. Some heart alot would have quit Yes he did but heart doesn't earn you a shot at the title, beating ranked opponents do unless you're a megastar.
-
Yes Groves won fair and square but he was the bigger man, Murray has some heart I'll give him that.

Briggs is a has been, he got battered by Vitali years ago. Talking don't cut it im afraid....

Funny thing is Don Mayfield used to dry them out that much they would look like corpses but he was that expert at training them they'd be a powerhouse in the pit.

I can recall a prized Hull being pitted against a Bison, it didn't end well for the Bull which surprised me tbh. The Buffalo Vs. the Bull http://www.southdakotamagazine.com/buffalo-vs-bull

Just makes sense all round dont it Baz.......i was in the company of someone quite high up in British boxing a while ago and put it to him........the answer i got was no promoter would risk the mayhem of a fight not going ahead once the paying customers were in the door should a fighter miss the weight. You could still have a weigh in the day before, what would be the difference then? Because that gives the naturally bigger man more time to put his weight back on which is unfair IMO....

well say if a fighter was 13st, and say fought at light heavy 12 st 7lb, he could poss fight on the night go up 13 st 7lb near cruiser weight , surely he be stronger at the extra weight, with more punching power Weight gained so suddenly is unlikely to be muscle and therefore is water and fat. That's not gonna give more punching power I don't think. I've come down 3 stone the last 6 months and my punching power hasn't suffered at all. If anything I've gained muscle and I'm hitting harder and I've definitely gained speed which affects force. I dont think thats how it works, theyve

Channel 4 news's Facebook page makes me feel sick, clearly trying to cause racial tension and link it all to Brexit. Thing is half the muppets fall for it all. I'm enjoying my days at work putting these idiots in their place.

Thing is there will have been hundreds of fights won and lost over the years due to weight problems and not just down to one fighter being better or worse. Rumours are Tommy Hearns lost the first fight to Sugar Ray Leonard due to being underweight, Hearns came in a full 2lb under the 147lb Welterweight limit. For a man of his height there's no wonder it had an impact on the fight. Same with Donald Curry, Lloyd Honeyghan fought a great fight when he shocked the world but apparently Curry was killing himself making the weight. I agree with Gnasher, weights should be taken 1 hour before a
