    Plenty do for sure got there last night to do a couple of hours of digging. But had to do some weeding, earth the spuds up, Plant some Brussels given to me. By the time I got squared away it was time to come home. Looking good apart from couple of broad beans that looked like they were nipped off and left

    Jason Powell won either best pup or entered dog (not sure which). Champion terrier was a local lad, sure somebody will have a better idea than me now I have written this lol............. would jason powell be from Rhondda by any chance ? only reason i ask I used to know a darryl powell (daz) from treorchy

    and if you didn't like it not like it would go to waste anyway I guess you could just lengthen your net or chop a bit off and use it for some thing else

    Looking good darbo well organised. I enjoying looking at people allotments I often have a nose around the ones next to mine when its quiet nice to see how people do things. I did have grand plans of nice longs rows on mine but I have basically planted what ever I can as I have cleared the ground. Looking forward to a nice cabbage. Remember as a kid granddad sending me out to check the cabbages see if the hearts were firm enough to pull one.

    unfortunately some of use aint. I was born too late. Swings and round abouts you will hopefully be ferreting the hedge rows or what ever your sport is while others are long gone

    Think the bird scarer is staying at home definitely looks too much like a pigeon just had one land right next to it . Lick of paint and possible decoy addition Will stick to the netting

    I would think too much of a good thing I would need a week to get a rabbit out plus picking up extra rubbish maybe but I have not used one so just guessing

    Broad beans and runners doing well in containers. Don't have much luck with any other seedlings though seems constant battle to keep them right temp and moist enough. Glad I recently got the allotment seeds seem to fly down there. I knocked this up this morning for allotment , I mean the daughter did Not sure if it looks too much like a pigeon and I will find 300 pigeons on me crops or they will just crash land into me veg dieing of laughter

    Got to agree the main ring events are good don't get me wrong take my hat off to them but if you went 8 years ago or further back and went today it is exactly the same. I think they were even struggling to find dogs for the simulated coursing today

    Rees sounds or the game fair people need to invest in some new gear. 5 yards from Simon whitehead and couldn't hear a thing the same for the gun dog training guys. Really spoiled it seeing as it cost 40 quid to get family in which as a rule is worth it

    A dog that knows how to communicate with the owner and work with him towards a common goal. Find it hard to put into words but that was the best I can do

    I think it is an old fishing net and does the job nicely and yes them rabbits have a healthy sheen about them If thats my old net Terry, it is and it does. If I remember correctly it's 4z 4" mesh only 13 meshes deep? I still have another 100 or so yards of it here. TC That's the one Allan

    One of my jills has been in season for months and I wont be doing any thing about it. She is kept in nice clean hutch as she should be and bounces around the yard happy as any thing with the other two.

    I use a 100% because the experienced chaps recommend it. I wouldn't fancy using 50% because even with a 100 if you don't lay the net right you can get tight spots so I wouldn't fancy 50 Not been at it long but that is just my take on it so far

    October the 7th so you could say early season and I suspect it was the middle of these 3 so not as big as the other 2

    I noticed a few rabbits like this last year near Pembrokeshire But even then net still held them not sure of the mesh size on that net with out checking. But that particular one did look close to slipping through even though was still well wrapped

    Well sowed a row of turnips and cauliflower today Cabbage plants are getting a bit dark green about them and looking a bit healthier Runner bean have suddenly shot out made some head way down the allotment as well about 3/4's done now peas, broccoli sown from seed have started to break through and all this in a little over two weeks. Just goes to show what a bit of nice weather does

    Every thing looks to be doing really well Jim including the ferrets. If I ever get my allotment half as productive as that I will be happy. I have some bottles of rhubarb water on stand by

    Out of interest does any one use hazel end pins ? I tried on my first attempt at a net so wasn't bothered what I used but I found them really nice to handle. Much better feel running the net out because you could feel every thing and silent. I understand you have to cut your lines and lose the nice running of a circular line but I didn't really have any issues. Also the danger of the pins slipping through the net of course I did attempt to make some wooden circular pins but as you see they didn't pan out but handle nice any way

    Well I have been quite busy and with the wifes and daughters help we are making some head way. Also gifted some plants from a neighbour which has been really helpful. Now I have a few things in I can slow down and enjoy things a bit. Had a chat with the previous owner today who showed me a comfrey plant that I would have unknowing chopped down and also how to make fertiliser out of it. He showed me the end result which looked like an olive oil all very clever stuff. and hardly a third of the way yet

    Very informative I was looking for a post like this the other day because I just couldn't envisage how it was assembled. Needs to be pinned so it doesn't drift off as I haven't found a post describing it any where else.
