anywhere from 100 - £300 .................I paid £75 for my current bitch...... and she's turning out to be a belter. just proves that more expence dosn't always equal guaranteed quality

with the right training you could probably teach a frickin camel to kill a fox rabbit of hare..............................but who would want to???????. This thread isn't about whether or not its capable.........but more about..if its 'suitable'.................................... The answer to that is clearly NO.

shes a powerfull lookign bitch........all cedit to you and her on pinning red

best of luck with the pups..................hope they make the grade for you... by the sounds of it they'll make some tough leggy lurchers........should be great the the job. when mixing gene pooles...you never know what you may end up with...Many have tried mixing to create the 'best all round dog'....Some have suceeded............. others have failed........... Once story of success was a friend of mine who crosse a german visla to a grey, and bred that back to a 3/8 5/8 bull grey......what a manaficent looking creature that made...........worked well to as mnetioned....

he looks a crackin dog.................... triaining should be simple.....if he's got the instinct to chase...all you really need him to do is recall......heel..... retireve.........& jump...........all of which are very basic commands. My advice would be to go out with someone experienced.....keep hold of your dog...........soon the season will be over and you will have a full year to bring the pup on. You only get out what you put in mate Dot be fooled into thinking anyone is going to swap a good worker for a duff...... Far too many people want to lamp and hunt.......they

Hope you have a good day..... Personally I enjoy a good walk on Christmas day morning.................. not a sole about......... :whistling: :whistling:

Good to hear you are getting thebug again mate!!!! for an all rounder ........as mentioned the above will be perfect. Depending on the terraine you will be working.......in close quarters..small padocks and small field.......then a smaller lurcher for more explosive speed would be ideal ......beddy wippet, with a splash of collie in.....for large arable land perhaps something abit racer with more averages of grey in it...... I have a greyhound bull cross...with only a splash of bull in...only 242 TTS quick as stinkl...brilliant on rabbits....and enough fuel in the tank for somet

I'd be very cautious of any proven dog being sold at this time of year............................ Im not saying that everyones on a 'leg lift'..........but keep your whitts about you -

If I was you I would go to a reputable gunsmth that will be able to fit you for a gun... last thing you want is to buy a shotties only to find it dosnt fit you..and bruises you everytime you use it. Humbersude Shooting ground at Bransburton is a good lpace to go with a massive range of guns form £150 to £10k..... it terms of makes.....most are OK...Baikel are ok.......but more agricultural for lobbing int he back of the landy and using roughly....

my lurchers recall is god day and night...she dosn't hunt up ater a miss...........she will walk to heal of the lead... Jumping needs more work...................as does retrieving As someone else mentioned, my pet hate is that as soon as she sees antoher human shes acrross to the jumping up like a crazed springbok..trying to get into their pockets.....I find this traite quite embarrasing!!!! In reality I dont think I'll get alot more out of her..but shes a good lamping dog...and catches superbly for a young un My expectations are not that high................and I am happy

I hear that some ex track dogs are so used to 'hanging off' the dummy when racing...that when they do course anything out of that environment they just tail gate it......... heard this a few times
-

-
too small to be a good cousring dog.....................but as you say...effective on the bunnies..... Thats not to say it wouldnt catch a hare because it probablty could.......................just not really the tool for the job
-
nice read mate....................sounds like your scope could do wih a tweaking though
-
had it too....................one silly old bitch looked at me and demanded that I let her take the dog home.....and she would would keep it as I clearly didnt have a clue.......................this coming frm a woman with a 20 stone lab.....that could hardly walk..... Not one to be rude to my elders...but we had a one sided converstaion after that...

my pup was 6-7 months when mixy hit us hard and the local fields were crawling with hunched half dead bunnies..........I let the pup have a crack at these on her own. Shes always been out with experienced dog and now shes 11 months or there abouts and runs very well on the lamp indeed.. only take her lamping once a week at the moment and give her 3 or 4 slips....her tally upto now is 28 so letting her have a look with the older dogs has done here no harm whatsoever.

I'm sure there was someone on here earlier on in the year that had an accidental mating of this cross.......and pup ended up a cracker.. correct me if I'm wrong....but I can't remeber the guys name.
