Well i went and had a dabble with a few lures today on the Aire and Calder canal, just to see what they looked like working, the rubber shads worked very well catching 7 Perch, biggest only about 1lb but enjoyable none the less, i was followed in by a few to and had a fair few grab the shad but miss the hook, i,d inserted a single hook in them coming out the back, a treble coming out of its belly might have worked better, enjoyed my couple of hours though, and iam learning.

  4. Tomo, tube heaters are abit like that but they will fetch the temp of the sleeping box up, i have a door flap on mine too, as a bonus it stops the dogs water freezing up to as the bowl is set into the the same timber as the sleeping box floor.
  5. Home from lamping on a cold wet night, a cold dog uses alot of energy to get and keep warm, if i can help it out i will.
  6. Tube heater in sleeping box that runs through a frost stat, i bought the tube heater from Toolstation and Frost stat from Screwfix.

Iam putting together a few lures that i can leave in our caravan as theres a small river and a canal i,d like to fish while there, both shallow and abit weedy, i,v been trying to get hold of one of those floating rubber frogs for surface work, it would need to take abit of weight to aid casting, maybe 8g - 10g, upto now i,v got 3 and they all sink with no weight, has anyone got one they can recommend or post a link to please, cheers.

I have'nt lure fished for some time but iam buying a few now as iam going to give it a go again, i was just wondering what has been peoples favorite/ most successfull lure, when i was young i had one made out of a qwill of some sort which i still remember some 45 years later, whats your favorite lure, regards, buster.
  10. Ground bait can kill a swim any time of year, once its in you cant get it out.

  12. the fillters are crap with the leds mate but you can have the one i got if you want a lamp ill put you name down and pm you when they come should be this week.im in talkes with the factry about a beter red light so ones thats sorted ill post it on here it will take a bit of time as i will test it well be for offering it for sale if its no good to me it will probly be no good to any one. Is it possable to fit a Red Cree bulb instead of the white one, do they/could they make such a thing.
  13. If she,s doing the job she was bred for, what more can you ask Ray, she,ll have the weight to push through stuff a lighter dog could'nt, sometimes we have to make the best out of what we end up with.
  14. The Diawa Amorphous range were very good rods, i,v got a 13ft super light amorphous wagler which i used for stick float fishing, more forgiving than the stick version when using light bottoms, fantastic rod.
  15. I do Flacko, she only a rabbiting dog, near as dam it 22"tts, i get out most days with her but only a few nights a month, depending on wind. moon etc.
  16. Some big Carp in a lake a couple of hundred yards from my back door, i,ll have to have a dabble.
  17. I,v orderd a couple of spinners and rubber shads in different weights and sizes, should give me something to enjoy next time we are caravaning, just wonderd, have any of you caught a Carp on a lure, cheers.
  18. The Kopyto relax one on ebay come without hooks, i see i need Jig Heads, what size hooks/weight would you recommend for canals & small river fishing, cheers.
  19. Sorry for being abit thick but do the Shads and frog jobbys come with out hooks etc, do you have to mount them on something yourself, cheers.

We have a caravan and normally go near fresh water of some kind, canal,s, small rivers with Perch, Chub & a few Pike mainly, iam looking to leave a few lures/spinners in the van and as its not really my game i could do with some recommendations, i,v bought a 7ft medium Daiwa Procaster 10g-30g casting weight to leave in the van, any advice/tips on lures would be greatly appreciated, cheers.
  23. Daiwa Carbo Whisker, best heavy feeder rod i,v ever used, won my alot of money on the Trent in its hay day.
