  1. nice little dog . hard to beat a whippet x for daytime work and ferreting got a couple myself atb
  2. had the same problem with a bull x greyhound at 5 months old so i just grabbed and pinned it to the floor never had to do it again... you havnt got to thrash it with a rake or kick shit out of it like some others on here ..... just take the sound advice ....
  3. my whippet bitch is 12 now very good lamping dog in her day.. easy to train but very head strong wanted to kill every thing that moved . she could turn on a six pence but her back feet were knackered after 5 years ...just a house dog now she's from sooty sam lines.... i use bigger lurchers for lamping now with better feet ... you will definitely have some exciting runs with a whippet atb
  4. got a first x bedlington whippet that yaps when working cover if he's on something but my other two beddy whippets dont or my other two lurchers ....all work together and have done for past 4 years ............ ive had me young lurchers yap when learning them on the lamp but never has adult dogs
  5. feed my dogs on tripe and supa dog active.. plus raw beef bones once a week ... all me dogs in great condition and fit ...as for fish never heard it was bad for dogs used to buy 1lb blocks of fish for mine never had my probs
  6. having a pup from good working parents is a good start . but then its down to yourself to get the best out of that dog ...

  8. ive got 3 beddy whippets for bushing and ferreting they will work in bramble and nettles any cover . but then again my bull x greyhound will smash into bramble if she cant get in she starts ripping them out .... i seen a man with a teckle other week anyone seen one working? looked a handy little dog ...........

  12. i had a pup break its back leg at 8 week , it jumped off the back of the sofa , he's two now and not had a problem with his leg yet , for a 19 inch dog it can clear a 5 bar gate its healed good and strong ...just try and and give it plenty of rest i know its hard to do when there pups but it will heal quicker than you think and give it some calcium tablets ...atb...
  13. Is the 3/4 out of the 1/2 bred. Nice looking dogs. thanks.....the 1/2 bred is the sire to the other and i have a black bitch out of the same litter she's smooth coated the other five pups were rough coated.........three were just like yours.......................

  16. ive got 3 beddy whippets and 3 other running dogs but never had this problem youve got , you said youve just started training your dog i know its still a pup at 6 months old .but i would have started recall . heel . stay . at alot younger age . its not good if she's running home ... try a long lead and be abit sharp with her but not to much you can ruin her... , keep on with training you'll get there ..........

As to classing a "working dog" it depends what your working for, everyone uses dogs for different purposes, so who the hell am i to judge anyones preference.   21. you wont go wrong with a bedlington whippet , ive got 3 there easy to keep and train a great alround working dog , i think everyone who's got one or had one will tell you the same .....
  22. not a chance mate pure pitbull horse shit /the only rabbit or anything that would catch would be in a hutch or allready dead. atb must have been one fast pitbull to catch rabbit , fox , and a few roe us lurcher men must be using the wrong dogs , ............never seen one of these alaunts x whatever work but they look slow as f--k ,seen people walking them to try and make them selfs look hard ............. :tongue2:

  24. id put him outside in a kennel , the dog will have his own space , wont take him long to adjust being outside , give him one more chance but i dont think you'll have a problem with him snapping at anyone when he's outside if you do then have him PTS ........... dont pass him on to someone else..............
  25. a bedlington whippet would be a good dog for what you will be doing , got one my self and two 3/4 whippet 1/4 bedlington these excel as ferreting dogs ,easy to train , a good turn of speed , from a standing start this breed takes some beating for speed so are good on the lamp , and would make good ratting dogs , ..........
