  1. I would just like to say what a great day me and my wife have had today. We visited Andy Kelly and his good lady Tonia, we have been looking at purchasing long nets but needed some advice on what we needed and how to use them. Andy and Tonia spent time advising us of the pros and cons of each different weight and size and we decided on 2 x 30yard nets. We visited to collect our nets this morning and they both spent time with us demonstrating how to put up and take down the long nets and the different ways to use them. We were welcomed into their home and we all spent a good afternoon talki
  2. Thanks for the replies, managed to get fixed up last night from Ripon, ended up with 2 jills and a hob all 11 weeks old, got the hob with a view to having him snipped next year. Dont normaly work hobs but thought we would give him a try. Thanks again Ian
  3. Hi, gust wondered if anyone knows of any ferrets available in the Richmond/North Yorkshire area, looking for 2 jills this or last years young prefered. Thanks in advance Ian
  4. Thank you all for your advice.Ime sure i will require alot more over the coming months. Regards Ian
  5. Sorry guys post may not have been clear but i was talking about playing with the pup in the garden as she has not even had her second jabs yet just thought it may be a idea to get her used to different thing in here mouth at an early age.I do this with the spaniels but this been my first lurcher i wasnt sure if they are prone to develop into been hard mouthed.
  6. Hi all Another question ime afraid.Went out on new permission last night and of course shot quite a few fist size rabbits, what i need to no is will it be ok for pup (9/10 weeks) to play/retrieve these and if so would it be a problem if the pup was to start to eat them.I am worried that if it started eating them it would cause the dog to be hard mouthed when old enough to work.(only intend to work rabbits) Thanks Ian
  7. Thanks for the offers lads, now have one sorted. Cheers Ian
  8. Hi, I am looking to get hold of Purdys progress dvd, have searched the internet with no joy can anyone help please. Thanks.
  9. Thanks for all the advice lads, I have now purchased a 1st cross greyhound/border collie. The first question of many is what is the best way to break the pup to ferrets and how soon should i start. Thanks Ian
  10. Thanks. Its strange, when i started racing pigeons a couple of years ago the guys at the club said that i seemed to click quickly with the pigeon racing and they put it down to being involved with dogs over the years. I used to show Staffordshire Bull Terriers many years ago and have had gundogs for a number of years which i currently work. I usually pay to have the gundogs trained but hoping to train the lurcher pup i have just bought myself. This now leads onto the new post to follow in the running dog section. Thanks Ian
  11. on way to look at one dam greyhound sire border collie, is there anything i should look for. Cheers ian
  12. Thanks paulus I am just looking at a greyhound x border collie would this be suitable but dont want anything too big. Thanks Ian
  13. Thanks for the advice lads. Next question is which is the easiest cross to train that would work with ferrets and do the odd rat. thanks again. ian
