  1. here comes silly season .....................................................
  2. £50 plus post and packing ( around£10 will refund if its and less) so £60 all in for spun poly they are 17 meshes wide and 3 and a half foot long with strong welded one inch rings,
  3. send loads to northern ireland mate there £25 all in including post and packing
  4. no living heritage have not arranged any dates so far
  5. a pop net is simply a small net ( roughly 2.5 foot long and 14 meshes wide) which can be used to cover the bolt holes in the rabbit warren. they were used alot of years ago when i was ferreting down south mainly on the hedgerows and open fields. they have just faded into oblivion as its just as quick to bung a purse net over the hole, the only disadvantage of that is sometimes the purse net is too big for the smaller 'pop' hole and the rabbit still escapes i suppose with the pop holes being further away from the warrens its a thing that some ferreters dont take into consideration these days(
  6. it would be a weekly thing all through the qualifying season - we have outlets to offer 2 days a month ( sat or sunday)from april-september leeview
  7. just an initial inquiry to begin with relating to all ferret owners in the north east if we could arrange a jill jab clinic at local dog shows ( qualifiers for cock of the north etc) would anyone be interested to bring there ferrets along for the jab hopefully all being well the price would be in the region of £5-£7 per ferret in talks with a vet at the moment and trying to work out logistics and will keep you all posted
  8. always thought a micro chip thats like a dog chip that could be picked up by the finder would be canny, then the ferret would no longer have use for the clumpy collar
  9. all ill say is the net needs to have plenty of bag in it - some ppl make them 13 wide and i cant see that adequately holding a large buck for long. dispatching the rabbit in the net with the correct sized net is essential for me as i dont want to spend hours untangling rabbits and wasting valuable ferreting time. i have used lots of products to make nets over the years and have to say that the spun poly is by far the best thing i have used by a long shot
  10. same as kids - i no this sounds funny, i no there lactose intolerant, but wipe the eye with cows milk and a fresh cotton bud or kitchen paper then throw it and use a fresh wab till the stickness goes, cows milk has a natural thing in it that stops redness and conjunctavitis, its just a bugger to stop them tring to eat the paper with the milk on it lol

  13. northern ireland is not a problem but southern ireland had to be international mail and it costs a fortune
  14. try north east ferret rescue worth a call as they take in strays from the area 01661 835 060
  15. the bigger the net up to a point will hold the rabbits, ive had two rabbits comfortably in one poke net and you have room to dispatch the rabbit in the net without fiddling on and taking the rabbit out of the net
  16. green, red, rust and yellow, sometimes he does blue but its hard to get in stock
  17. a poke net is roughly one and a half sized purse nets ( about 4 and a half foot and 20+meshes wide) they are pegged at each end for more maneuverability and are good for double holes and under tree stumps and other tricky holes,
  18. advanced netting does 4z and 6z nylon last time i bought it it was round £55-£60 for 200 yards
  19. 3ft nets 18 3ft 4 nets 16 3ft 6 nets 14 4ft nets 10 4 and a half poke nets 8/9 but i make a diamond shaped nets that starts off with 8 on the smaller rings and 10 on the 4ft and over
  20. if you start off with 8 on the ring and do 3ft 6 nets you get 12-14 nets per ball, ball of string from agouti £8.60 plus 50 rings roughly £5.50 ball of draw cord £10.50, loomis needle £2.50 plus a 2 and an eight board £1 plus postage roughly £25+ it is a good feeling to make your own nets but if your just starting out it will take you a while to get used to it and get your confidence up, there is nothing better than catching a rabbit in a net you make yourself
  21. a couple of drops of veg oil in the bottles help
