    New Job

Just wondering what some of you would do in this situation? I currently have a job I really like. Its mon - fri 8-5 and while it can have its off days I usually enjoy it. I am 27 and the salary is rougly £21,000 a year. I have been for an interview for another job with one of our competitors and have a really good feeling that I will be offered the job. It is an external position and teh salary is £33,000 per year. Would you take the job for the money and risk it not being as good as my current job, or would you stick too what yoy know? Its the same industry and £11,000 extra i
  2. what if one hound flushed a fox and one lurcher took chase and killed fox in the day out for a walk on moorland is it a stright forward case and you are guilty, two people with one dog each walking were people exercise dogs every day If you caught one fox / hare you could more than likely get away with it. If you have 3 hares on you your fecked. Once can be regarded as an accident but any more and you will be up against it
  3. Top stuff - good for you earth and hounds. Genuine people are few and far between.
  4. My lurcher was killed in the field 9 months ago and I stil miss her like hell. Sorry to hear about your dog.
  5. I wouldn't bother buying one. A pice of rope/cord does the job fine
  6. Looks like a good day was had by all. Are the dogs collie crosses?
  7. Frank, perhaps you should think about how you are putting yourself over to people. You just typed as if you were a school teacher talking telling off children. Alot of the guys on here are experianced dog men and are pasionate about their sport. Providing they are not picking on someone I cant see the problems with them expressing their views. We all have differant opinions of Hancock and his dogs and are entitled to voice them. Just because you dont agree or like them you shouldnt lock a thread. Its not a dictatorship, we are all entitled to make our own opinions. Now I don't want to
  8. cheers for the replies guys. Appreciated.
  9. dont worry about the p ss being taken out of you because you got a hancock dog your freezer will always be full. Yes mate i agree, but i see alot of people with Hancocks dogs now going onto new X's as it's been a long time since he bred out of workers I know what you are saying but I thought (perhaps wrongly) that the dogs were all ex track dogs and the collies were from working (sheparding, not hunting, but working all the same) dogs. ie the collies are from working parents. Obviously if the keeps a half cross for stud the parents dont work, but they are from working / racing
  10. Jusy a quick question. Im not really clued up on airguns. Had a BSA Superstar and HW97K a few years back but dont shoot anymore. My question is the pistols that have the small compressed air bottles in the handles and fire 177 pellets - what sort of power do they have? I assume they are ment for plinking? but would the kill a rabbit from point blank range with a single shot humanely? The reason I ask is my mates lurcher returns rabbits to hand live and his wife works the dog. She cant break the neck properly and doesnt like using a preist. We were talking about these but I dont know wh
  11. Instead of locking threads why not ban the people that cant have a serious debate? Locking threads just spoils it for everyone. Make it 3 strikes and your out. 3 warnings then banned. The shite would soon stop. Plus there's nothing wrong with a heated debate, as long as its not bullying??
  12. Why is it closed? It was generating some intresting replies, as far as I can see there was nothing wrong with it?
  13. Have been working like hell on the recall. Had her out over our local golf course and she was straight back (mostly) when I called. I am going to keep at it and hopefully it will sink in. I really want to get her out on the lamp but am going to wait a few weeks I think.
  14. Has anyone had much experiance with these? in 97 or 98 i saw Paul Sager (i believe he was a good Saluki coursing man) run one of his young dogs on a ferreted rabbit on the hills at Crawford in Lanarkshire. I was impressed with it and it returned the rabbit almost to hand. Its the only Saluki(pure) i have ever seen in my life and i just wonered if anyone else has them and how thet were working wise and obediance wise. I know what I've read, but want to know from people who have them. Cheers
  15. Whin from the site is hoping to line breed his collie cross in the spring and i am hoping to get a pup if there are enough. I will let you know how i go but i am intrested to see the differances between them
  16. You will find that alot of people who have Hancock dogs like them. Alot of the people who have had them and failed to train them blame it on Hancock. What they dont mention is the other dogs they have failed with, still, it must be Hancocks fault though!! and some people are easily satisfied ....and dont no what a good dog is ,,,,,yes you will get the odd decent dog ...but is it worth the risk .....to big of a risk for me to take..... ..its a hard enough game as it is ..why stack the odds against yourself .......just my opinion ....... Very true bud everyone has diferant standards.
  17. I think the reason is that most genuie dog men aren't breeding for a proffit. They are trying to better their stock. With the KC reg show dogs alot of people are making good money selling to unaware members of the public. How many times have you herd pet owners say "oh he's a pure breed" or "he's a pedegree"? lurchers are mongrals - but well bred mongrals

  20. wat day does it finish.imean its a long compertition You have pm
  21. What do they weigh? they look like tanks - would eat my poor wee whippet in one gulp lol
  22. I had one and thought she was great. Easy to train and a good enough worker for me. If you can find someone who is breeding a litter to keep one back then id get it from them as the pups will be better socilised and have had more attention but with Hancock you will get the cross you want, A genuine 3.4 grey 1.4 collie. Good luck with your pup. Look for the thread by world.hunters about his pup storm. cracking dog bought from Hancock.
  23. yea thats what I ment. 3/4 collie x 1/4 greyhound. would a litter of 3/4 gery 1/4 collie x 3/4 grey 1/4 collie breed a level litter. Or would it end up mixed like breeding 2 x 1/2 crosses together?
