Tell you what a litter of 10 kits are like fecking piranhas from my experience, they eat like crazy and shit like crazy. So its a little more work all-round for sure. Best to thin a litter down in my opinion, unless you need them.
-
I have always let them go around 8-10 weeks or so, 6 is too early for a pup or a kit IMO.
-
You don't need any do you sirus? I'm the same never pay for them ,,,just gifted from mates or aquatences...and I've done the same when I have bred My little hunting budy vin put a thread on about,,wanting new kits and we have been inundated with offers,,,,in fact vin has been on a mission collecting stock from far and wide,,,lol,,,,going to test em out this season,,,and keep the good ones,,,and pet home the rest No I don't need any mate, I have booked a couple of 'designer' kits to join my team later in the month Your going to have your work cut out with that many stinkers
-
Neither have I, but would you buy one? And if so what would be reasonable to you?
-
Yeah seems 10-15 quid is about right. I was a bit shocked but like I say I haven't bought any before.
-
I haven't bought a ferret before or if I did it can't have been too pricey as I am pretty thrifty with my pennies and would remember it. I have always given away any excess kits. How much is the going rate these days in your part of the world? I am always happy to pay for good stock so don't get me wrong.

Controlling the world well I don't know about that, having a huge influence in the USA and UK, too right they do.
-
and Hamas/isis/boka harem etc, are not !!! Don't get me wrong of course they are, however I object to their actions totally. It will solve nothing, and i also object Israel having the UK and USA in there pockets so they can do as they like. Bloody hideous considering Their (Jews) history. The picture i saw this week of kids signing bombs destined for Palestine (with love from isreal) it's repugnant to me to do this to kids. One things for sure it won't (if ever) be resolved in our life time.
-
Jesus really!!, isreal are bang out of order and it's appalling loss of life. It's a shame we put the Jews there in the first place in 1948, eh. "Oh don't you worry Jews WE (USA and uk) will look after you!!" Bad idea from the start it was never going to go well. The Jews are so influential in the USA and UK, we couldn't possibly object to them stealing more land or bombing more women and kids could we!!
-
Yeah well its a bad choice, but she is more than likely thick as pig shit. I would be more concerned as to what Isreal are doing to the Palestinian people, that is hideous and despicable and is happening now.

Honestly is always the best policy eh, Just to clarify 'stuff' as in 'Hype' not 'Dogs',

It's just a whippet I suspect, I would've surprised if it was from the Laguna kennel. What's the prefix? Just go to the whippet archives and findout when the last Laguna bred dog was in the pedigree. But to be honest all this Laguna stuff really is a big bulging bag of excrement, just enjoy your whippet for what it is, not for some sales chat a breeder told you.

thats the dam to the bitch i had Really but it was out of a 'Blue' bitch, before you became a full blown brindlephile huh

Only one I can find is this one Paula http://thewhippetarchives.net/details.php?id=49969

I believe much of the kennels success was due to Mrs Dorrit McKay. Just to put this in perspective for people she was breeding and coursing these dogs in the 60's 70's and 80's. The dogs you see being peddled in the last decade or so have very little Laguna blood. I think it's an insult to mrs McKay and Bond Gunning that people still sell pups using the name, just to line their pockets. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/1367076/Dorrit-McKay.html

Excellent post

It's sales talk for working whippets! Forget the names and get something from parents doing what you want.

Are Bigger Heavier Whippets Better For Work????
Sirius replied to carp king's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Some good points. A whippet is meant to be small (20" or there abouts) enjoy them for what are, I would say. They are not comparable to a Lurcher. If you want/need a 22+ dog a lurchers what you need not a whippet. -
Sunroof is a good idea, will give him a bell to see what the cost is like or look at fitting one myself if this doesn't workout.

Both Ian, As long as it can do a leg of lamb is my main concern. Industrial would be best but the price tag that goes with it is big it seems. Cheers
-
Bit of feedback I have fitted a rotary vent on the roof to expel hot air and two 12" louvered vents on each side to increase airflow in. The signs are pretty good so far, and it's not so hot in the canopy, however it will not be as airy as a ifor williams, but looks better.
-
That would be very useful mate I would appreciate it.
-
Any recommendations on these? I am not looking at a industrial one, but I need to pack various cuts of meat lamb, game etc. Any info is well come.

Yes you can as other have said, no problem on small spots. The prob with summer ferreting is cover mainly, the baby rabbits can cause some slow progress. However I have never had a ferret fall asleep after a kill, seriously it is a wives tale IMO. They may stay with a kill but most move on after a while and don't catch up on their beauty sleep. I think people mix up a trapped ferret with a sleeper.
