  5. Being a Border Collie cross fan myself. My opinion is you need the right collie blood, I have seen some very good Collie crosses some that are not so, the main reason is the person behind the dog whatever he or she as a softer touch or a pushy touch when it come to owning such a type of x. One other thing I would look for is the temperament of the Collie that is being used. Some can be over excitable, nervy and skittish which will then pass on to the lurcher offspring. There also ain't that many people breeding true Collie crosses. My advice would be if you want a ferreting, mooching and lampi
  6. Noting like hunting partners sharing .
  7. As a rabbit catcher myself having owned many Collie/Greyhounds in the past. Having this type lurcher I find she suits me she & the ground I work her on. She is my moucher's pal be it night or day time I love every minute of it. Which put me on the idea of breeding my own line for my self. They might not suit everybody but they suit me .
  8. I love Collie/Greyhound. The only thing I find is finding a really good working Greyhound than you do a Whippet. Shame really they are a good dog in the field if they been schooled right. do You really need to use a working greyhound though? Plenty of people make good dogs out of mutts from none working parents ... In my mind yes, you have a better chance of producing better working dogs.
  9. I did I was in Brixham for two weeks .
  10. A first x Collie/Whippet or a pure Whippet. I did thought of using a Collie/Greyhound, but I want to stay with the Collie/Whippet.
  11. As in what dog would I uses to put over my bitch now or if I wanted to start from scratch
  12. One thing with me being a Slaughterman I get plenty of meat for my dogs for free. So if I breed a littler the cost of food doesn't come into it. Only the worm & flea treatment is the only thing I pay for so the pups will be £50 each in the end, no need to over charge.

  15. Lovely litter , you can't beat a good little Whippet type lurcher
  16. I know Jase well. and his dog which he doesn't have anymore.Oh don't he? Him & his partner have split up, all I know he left the dog with her.
  17. She 3/4 Whippet 1/4 Collie, she stand 20 inches tall, I will say she's the best rabbiting dog ive owned. Compared to a whippet there not that much differences work wise. Only differences is she's not so much injury pron, better coated thicker boned and stronger feet compared to the Whippet.

  19. Does anyone else work this type of lurcher part from me. I got a mate that had one. But you don't seen to see this type of x about, here are a few pic's of my 3 year old bitch why I was on holiday in Devon. The last pic with the Rabbit in her mouth was taken before I went on holiday.
  20. Just thought I have a quick look at what color twine he had in. only to find he has closed. Fourteen Acre took over.
  21. That's a brilliant pic at the bottom atb Thanks mate
  22. The basket system may be marginally quicker, but traditional is a lot quieter and catches more rabbits. It's not speed that catches rabbits. I have yet to see anyone who can set a quickset faster than a rabbit can run. TC Reading that I think I say with the traditional way. I'm not going to fix something that's not broken.
