Being a Border Collie cross fan myself. My opinion is you need the right collie blood, I have seen some very good Collie crosses some that are not so, the main reason is the person behind the dog whatever he or she as a softer touch or a pushy touch when it come to owning such a type of x. One other thing I would look for is the temperament of the Collie that is being used. Some can be over excitable, nervy and skittish which will then pass on to the lurcher offspring.
