how many working bedlingtons are there? would it be easier to find a hard mute patterdale or a working bedlington?

why so much hate here? lol i like the vast majority of dogs,even a lot of small show bred pet dogs have good attitudes and can be very loyal and friendly imo they are the only types of dogs a lot of people should have.

useless ones. not all of them though,i mean there'd be no point in a lonely old pensioner having a well bred lurcher,some little pet breeds have good temperaments.

i used to work at a kennel that trained pp/search and rescue/sports dogs for private sale but also boarded pets,we tested literally hundreds of the untrained pets to see what they were like if their handler/carer got attacked,the best on average by far were terriers and male rottweilers,they were the most natural protectors i found (to the albeit little pressure we applied).

i can't call mine off,but theres nothing quite like slipping a dog just before you hear a dull noise and see a lanny or tractor come round the corner. those times i wish i could.

I was thinking more about the turns,if the hound gets 100 odd yards flat out sprinting and the hare turns sharpish its going to end up 3 fields away.

well tbf my little whippet x isnt made for that type of hunting lol i still think if we were allowed a couple more slips a good suitable lurcher would beat hers.

frst time ive heard of a racing greyhound used for hunting aswell.well technically they would be the best for a course.no other dog will beat them for speed.agreyhound will hit top speed around 46 miles an hour some even faster,within three strides.but like i said brainless to a fault.used to give them live kills,but that can back fore aswell.makes them sleep in the trap sometimes.many years ago used to give a lad who worked a flapping track a fiver to tie a live rabbit on the hare rail lol oh how that sounds soooo wrong theses days hahah when i said i didnt believe her dogs could turn

3k plus all the time and effort put in, i'll bet your still feeling that now lol theres an old lady near me who races them but also hunts with them,but she's got a lot of land,and i imagine its mainly big fields. its funny she swears blind they're better than any lurcher in every way in the field,but take a look at them and one in particular's more scar tissue than dog. she says she always starts them on live quarry because it makes them keener.

i wouldn't of thought of the dog swallowing sand during a race. going a bit off topic, but what would a conditioning program look like for a racing dog?

what does that mean scot? in racing greyhounds.when they take knocks and bumps during a race,after a while they get a build up of fluid at the back of thier head.if you put your fingers at the back of thier ears,you will feel to small bones like a ratchet.best doing it with your thumbs.but ONLY if you have been showed how to.dont go f*****g about in there if you havent done it before.work those two bones with your thumbs,the dog will yap a wee bit as you do it,however after a bit and the fluid starts to disopate,it will be just like any other dog who likes getting its ears rubbed.i have

I can understand your way of thinking to a degree, but honestly, they are hardier than they look! They also run like the wind! All your suggestions have been done already & she isn't likely to approach strangers anyway, I was just really looking for some help with gundogs to see if there was any way we could find her, the area she is in is vast forestry & scrubland that people have no way of getting through to search. no offence mate but it's that kind of mentality that helped get the pitbull banned! any medium or large dog could rag a kid if a knob owns it! I had a mastiff cross until last year, I have never seen a dog as good as him with kids in my life. He stood 28" and was 50kg, I took him out of my car once and there was a woman and her 4 year old son on the car park, the kid dropped his mums hand and legged it to my dog and hugged him from the front. when do people stop being able to function after a few pints,my old fellas the same,wont even have more than a couple on school nights now i'll often wake up after a night out in some obscure location covered in my own piss,shit and sick with no memory of the night before, but all that aside ive never felt rough the day after.
