  1. I didn't but the other pickers up and beaters do. Me and Max are still both in training, learning the ways of the shoot. Hopefully with time we'll become valued members of the team. To be honest being paid to pick up is not important to me, I just want to work my dog in beautiful countryside doing what I've been training him to do.
  2. Yesterday was Max and my first ever day picking up on our local driven shoot. Max is my three year old lab x and we've been learning the work of a gundog together. Here's my attempt at a write-up of the day. Our day started at 7 am with our usual saturday morning walk to the paper shop in an effort to burn off some of Max's pent up energy! At 9 we arrived at the Keeper's cottage and met up with the keepers, beaters and other pickers up. Some of them I already knew and I was quickly introduced to those I didn't. The first drive was fairly near to Keepers Cottage so the beaters set off
  3. Makes a change from seeing Jesus on a slice of toast.
  4. Here we go again. W*nk*rs have no respect. They're not even proper poachers If they didn't take the kill home, just irresponsible, trigger happy cnuts with balls for brains. This kind of behaviour only helps the antis by dripping poison into the minds of the impartial general public through the biased media.
  5. Recall. For the dogs on sake it needs to come back when told.
  6. Mooch.

    Cammo- why?

Camo is also compulsory attir at game fairs.
  7. Ah, now you didn't say ROUGH work in your original post did you? However, my advise is still the same! You're moving to quickly and your dog isn't ready. If you go rough shooting with a friend then leave your gun at home and just concentrate on your dog. Keep it on the lead and maintain your control over it, with time it'll learn and you can loosen the lead and eventually dispense with it altogether. Personally I like to see my dog work well more than I like shooting but if you're not prepared to sacrifice a few trips out with your gun then your dog will never get any better. Put the
  8. Once again, a light hearted thread with it's tongue firmly in it's cheek has turned xenophobic and bitchy. Shame.
  9. You're right socks, I wouldn't care where the bloke lying next to me is from. I'd be more concerned about why he's in my bed and what he's done with my wife. Also, consider the irony of writing how, if anyone had an iq over 20 your post should be the last, and then minutes later posting again...........
  10. Wrong on both counts tea came from India and the Chinese were drinking tea when we were all in mud huts. Goverment democracy invented by the Greeks Fair enough on the democracy thing but I'm right about the tea (sort of but we'll get to that). Tea was first produced in China but was introduced to India in the 1840s. In 1851 a man named Robert Fortune smuggled thousands more (higher quality) tea plants out of China along with 8 expert Chinese growers thus improving the quality of the tea known as Indian tea. What I meant was tea was exported throughout the world by the East India Com
  11. Did anyone else see the programme he made where he "predicted" the winners of horse races? At the end he showed how he did it, by filming loads of people betting but then editing the footage so it looked like he was mentoring just one person. It's an entertainment show and he's an entertainer just watch and enjoy, and when he explains how he did it, you can claim you knew how it was done all along!
  12. The English brought tea to the world, what more do you want? The English also invented government and democracy but I wouldn't really say that turned out well at the moment.
  13. So that's just you and David Blaine then!
  14. Everything he does is a trick. He's always very honest about that at least!
  15. Well done Hannah and well done Moss. Glad to hear the dog done good.
  16. Have a look at http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/you-switch-gas-electricity He reckons now is the perfect time to switch, and he has a step by step guide on how to go about it. Choose the right comparison site and the give you money for switching too.
  17. weres that? Cheers Longdogs, you've just made my day!
  18. What a bunch of numptys! The antis chained themselves to the front gate and the police came in through the back and took over the whole site. Oldest trick in the book! I reackon they should clear the site and leave the protesters up there, they'll soon change they're minds when the temperature drops tonight.
  19. Your dog(s) must smell wonderful!

  21. I use the IP Board app. IP Board host THL forum. Download app, search and save THL and bingo! THL every time I hit the icon.
  22. I mostly use my mobile phone to come on THL, there isn't a report button on the mobile version. Perhaps one could be added next to the "quote" button followed by a confirmation box to prevent accidents!
