Hi and thank you for looking, im interested to know your thoughts on the lab althoe i dont shoot i come into contact with gun dogs but mostly spaniels when beating, the labs are on the end of the drive around the butts with the pickers up, im a lurcher lad and thinking of having some lab in my lurchers i like the steady nature and the connection you get with the dogs one thing i wonder about is stamina and drive i guess if you wild foul you would see how much gas they have swimming in fast flowing water like the humber ,now i no this is a fo par but has any one experienced ones charger chasing

IS it just me or does it seem that people who frequent the countryside are getting a rough deal from the media i mean its rual crime this poacher that and the hunting comics everyweek are full of the courts name and shame section, fare enough theiving is not acceptable, but lets be fair permission is very hard to get and if you have the instinct inside you to hunt what you going to do. Im one of the lucky ones with permission. But now ive been advised to ring the cops and tell them im comming up the dales as well as my keeper due to a run in with a local watch scheme. I do understand if you do

2.8 guy replied to 2.8 guy's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
VERY interesting as i thought thoe no definate dog breeders of old, i know alot of the keen dog men of old that started up with gun dogs when the act came in shame really. i understand what people are saying about horses for courses but im talking about the all round lurcher that would run anything anywere a pot filler these dogs do exsist. to be honest i would have thought somone would have mentioned the tumbler crosses ive seen advertised. when james was breeding it wasnt just buy a pup you had to book one out of his next litter have a bit of a interveiw if you will.but if you stud round a l -
Hi yes your right about the bull content, i too have had lots of lurchers but needed one 2 years ago and looked around for a lurcher pup after much thought i decided to try a bull.i got one out of a strain and well known breeder, has it happened she has turned out well i do think fashion has a thing to play and i wouldnt go get a random one as some people breed for looks and money there is breeders out there who breed old types of lurcher stick to your guns and find one the way you want it bred

who is breeding the best dogs these days
2.8 guy replied to 2.8 guy's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Like i said a person who breeds dogs that are from a strain from chosen dogs and bitches not a puppy peddler but a decent breeder with confidence in his off spring, like i said there is many good saluki types and finding one would be pretty strait forward this is my point what about your lurcher types of old im sure there is some decent lads on here and i know many people have good breeding wich they share with freinds ect but thats not what i asked -
hello to all, if i said who is breeding the best dogs and what i mean from that is a breeder who produces pups of a good quality to the public whos dogs are consistantly good perhaps out of a strain the kind of dog im on about will do all aspects of hunting day and night, i dont mean specialist dogs like the saluki x althoe my hat goes off to the guys that breed these as they seem to be getting good results, i know nothing of this type but if i wanted one i could find a pup easy thats out of good stock pedigree ect if the ads i read are true. but what about your common garden lurcher, who is a

LABRADOR GREYHOUND ANYONE HAVE THIS CROSS
2.8 guy replied to 2.8 guy's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
allthoe the lab is used for shooting persuits and does it very well, the breed was bred for retreiving fishing nets in labrador novascotia hence the name, they allways seem steady in the right hands and allthoe they wont have the speed of the collie i do think they would realy give a good deal to a lurcher perhaps the gentleman of lurchers just what i need now im getting older lol -

2.8 guy replied to 2.8 guy's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
i was up on on the land beating this year and the new keeper had a leggy lab i saw it course a rabbit it wasnt quick enough to catch it but what did impress me it never made a sound its only a young dog and after i spoke to him i found out it was a lab x pointer on closer inspection you could tell by the little beared it had but other than that it just looked like a leggy lab the one i saw the other day was far better you could just tell it is a quality dog the more i think about it the more convinced i am its the right way to go for me -

2.8 guy replied to 2.8 guy's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
at least HM entered running types, not the collie saturated stuff some were putting up.mr.millwards Rosie was cgxbg if memory serves. yes the dog i last saw him with was bull greyhound collie grey hound he gave his old dog away to sandra i think he went off the strait collie x and said you couldnt push them too hard as for him getting rid of dogs i carnt comment but i can on my own experience and it goes like this no one likes to go backwards so its hard when youve had a realy good dog a bench mark then you take somthing out that doesnt cut the mustard it doesnt stay long i had a really goo -
