  2. my bellman reciever seems totaly dead of charge and nothing happens when i put it in charger ,a mate reckons just leave it in charger over night as its prob dead any other sugestions
  3. bellman and flint, realtree suit, four wheel drive, all the strong stuff gear .seems to me that all these essentials except the locator of some sorte arnet all that essential to much emphasis on looking the part and not enough on getting out digging, surely ime not the only one with a terrier or 2 and lurc:her in the back of the mondeo ,my terrier isnt even wheeler, stephens or breay bred lol ,its all getting a bit to eletist for my likes .
  4. if it benefits the bitch health wise all well and good, but spaying effe cts hormones and surely hormones must effect working ability aggresion etc.
  5. sounds a fair price for a 5 month old pup a lot of work and food keeping 1 till that age
  6. calling is good fun i like to get them at about 40 metres away gives the fox and the dog a better run ,to retrieve the dead fox if that helps u sleep at nite lol.
  7. anyone who has done a lot of digging in both enviroments will tell you that not all urban earths are eay shallow arrairs a lot of deep difficult places in the city and the urban fox in my experiance is well fed strong healthy and has far less fear than his country cousin ,ive ug both and h respect for both but if i want to find more foxes to ground earlier and want numbers to push the terriers a bit i head for the city,
  8. all sounds very nice but ive got a working border dog from a decent line of workers but im:o the line is a bit tight now and needa bit of fresh blood i keep myself to myself so not easy finding the ightp thats why i ask if theres a working border forum thank u.
  9. is there a forum for working borders and what happened to the working border club, just intrested as in 12 months time will be looking for a working bred pup from earth workers
  10. a border should enter as easily as any other breed of working terrier all those t slag off borders should take a good hard look aheir own dogs and make sure they are properly tested
  11. marking up earths or dispatching wounded foxes legal and of coarse accidents do happen just always liked the beddy cross for working with terriers.
  12. think youare wasteing your time if you want this terrier for work i would get rid to an old woman
  13. lot of intrest in the bedlington terrier on this site just wondering if the x is stil being used for working with terriers or are they just used for rabbiting now.
  14. what do you expect from a working terier both have different attributes get what you think would serve and suit you best,i like all terriers but generaly russels are to noisey for me
  15. has any body got experiace with shovels , how do u rate them flying fox are they for emergency only or week in week out hard work.
  16. thank you for the replies but how does the long range deben measure up,the ferret lads dont have the choice terriermen have less choice certainly makes life simpler ,any replies from deben users would bewelcome.
  17. i imagine this topic has been gone over a few times,i started with no locator then used the old 15ft knocker box, used those for years then jumped to the b&f but thats knackered now beyond repair my fault should of taken more care its the old set the 1 with batteries in collar, now ve prob only got another 5 or 6 digging seasons in me and i will b e keeping clear of any mammoth sized digs ,so what do you reccomend just for a knock about with the terriers i like the b& f bt have no knowlede of the new long range debens are they up to the job, thank you for any replies.
  18. went out to check a few earths cant go into the main woods not till after xmas not on this permission anyway ,checked down a small shaw, copse, lurcher started marking an earth ,a wind blown tree heavy in ivy lay across this earth about 5 ft off the ground dog roses thorns all helped to make this place a bit of a b*****d to get to.lurcher going silly making the earth going from hole to hole not concentrating on any particular hole, the terrier now gets a whiff of the quarry and is doing his best to drag me through the trash, the earth looks very rabbity to me one eye looks a bit more opened out bu
  19. hi all back from the sin bin ,been having a good hard think about topics to post, apart from that the bantams are still laying well miracle considering the weather, watched a nice grayling in the river earlier a real specimen just over the 2 pound mark i reckon left the line in my pocket for this one beautifull evening didnt want to spoil the tranquility.
  20. fair comment clean spade , years ago read an article about a woman who used minature dachshounds to bolt rabbits with think she was u.s.a. based fox earths can be tight enough rabbit erths and tiny dogs recipe for dissaster
  21. "all weather conditions"versatile"got a spine"lol!your talking to an ex marine!but course we never trained in any conditions not to mention artic!!we wernt at all versatile and course have no spine!!!shshshsh now rossthedog!i dont know about you but il walk the talk a back it up!do yourself a favour a stop being a prick unless u want to back it up?u over stepped the mark with your comments about me a my lurcher bitch in backfillers!and other people posts prove it a think the same!
  22. got 2 couisins in the royal marines a brother in the paras and a son who is witing for a start date to his basic training nothing realy to much to shout about there not the 1st to wear a beret and they wont be the last doing a bit of time in the forces doesnt make you invincible as the graphic pics on the news o sadly ilissrate, your meant to serve with pride dont try to use some militarryy experiance to intimidate me it wont rub in fact its disrespectfull to those who have or still do serve.
  23. cumro after reading your posts i retract my comments about your bitch being a bit dense falling down an obvious large hole, i now believe she threw herself down there on purpose hoping to break her neck trying to put herself out of the misery of having a sniveling little owner like you, i can totaly understand her actions.
  24. lampimg foxes what a joy , its nice to see different types of dogs doing what they are bred for like most foxing men the bull x greyhound was the preffered breed used to go out 3,4 or evenmore times lamping a week plus daytime bushing and digging agger dog took the work load easier but a mate of mine had a little bull /beddy whippet type only 19inch to the shoulder when he used to drive down with this bitch i used to get quite exvited this little bitch would breack her neck to get a fox fair enough she didnt have the build for more than 1 or 2 but h er heart was more than willing the thrill
