  1. :thumbs-up: Second that opinion, Rescued a lurcher from getting the bullet up on moor, Mate who put us in touch said she was great little lurcher, she is, but not a hunting bone in her body! Luckily I was able to sucker my mother that she needed a dog and the exercise, she now has a lovely home, but think although there are loads of dogs that need good homes, if you want it for a specific job you should get a pup. Then maybe a rehomed one for company :thumbs-up:
  2. Sorry rabbithunter, just realised that I might sound in my earlier post as slagging off town dwealers, Us lot out in the sticks realise how lucky we are. Think there are genuine people who are still stuck in the towns that should be out in the country as well as those who would class themselves as country people who should go to a town and stay there!
  3. Nicely put molly, Thanks for reminding me of these things. Had me in giggles remebering our fist place down here, Idilic people would say in the middle of a dairy farm, but like you say they dont realise that the yards in the summer are filled with Bitting flys as bad but more profuse than horse flies and our farm started scraping yards at 3.30! and was only 10 meters away from the back of our house! Didnt worry about the garden, instead went walking to avoid flies that attack as soon as you try and hang out the washing! the previous tenants had caught the regular visiting mice with live
  4. Know what you are saying countrymaid! They dont like the idea that their shit really does stink! now the farmers have to pay to have fallen stock taken away they end up lying around for days waiting for collections, but whos fault is that, Its only because of townie legislation that has closed down a load of the outlets for fallen stock that has made the problem like it is. We have a large lagoon near us that has all the septic tanks etc emptied into it for spreading by local farmer, not that bad really, only when they give it a good stir!! Had the chance to see it one day, amazing how ma
  5. Gorgeous pup, Whatch out though she will totally control your life but the devotion you get in return is well worth it. Yep our too are both hancocks, 50/50 Billy clinton the father, and 5/8 3/8th from Tweedle dee! As said in other threads, his site is on/alongside a car junk yard, but have never seen the dogs in a bad way or not looked after. Prices have only gone up by I think £50 in the last 20 years, so not that much considering. Know several people who have had Hancocks from pups and none have been disappointed.
  6. Firstly on the subject of mixed relationships, Yep in all honesty they can work. Been with other half for 13 years and married for 8 of them. Ask him and he will say I was a townie (suberb of bristol!) I did have fields behind were I lived and contact with the animals in them, but they were more pets than income for person who had them. Can still remeber the first time husband brought home pigeon for tea! Deal was he prepared it and cooked it if I would try some Loved it Slowly became more involved with that side of things, to the point were I am often out Trapsing around fields with
  7. :welcomeani: 52 days! heck that must have kept you busy!, did a season like than a few years back for a proffesional shoot in cornwall, Didnt realise how unfit i was until I did that! LOL didnt do as much this year as work was too busy.
  8. All I can say is take loads of dosh! You name it and it should be there somewhere You can usually grab a good bargain if you haggle a bit too! If you are into your magazines then there is the time to take out a subscription, usually deals and free bottle of sloe gin! Unfortuneatly there always appears to be something you miss or cant get too in time but loads to see Find it is best to have a good sized ruck sac then if you have your dogs there is no juggling leads and bags. Food is as always a bit pricey, but its all part of the experience! Went up last year for the first time i

Nah sorry mate, British but been over your way a few years back. Brother lives outside Townsville, but not the hunter gather sort of chap must be about 10am for you to be posting now I guess, so why arent you out on your sunday morning Hunting? Too hot already?
  10. Our jills in the past have had what appears quite sore necks, however this hasnt seemed to worry them as much as it worried me. dont know whether it is liscenced for use on ferrets (not much is) but a cream I was given by our vet is called Dermasol, about £5 a tube, but it is a natural soother/healer, originally designed for human use and then used on animals. Have had it for our dog and also on several of the farms where i milk for sore teats. If it does appear to go nasty I might be worth speaking to you vet and finding out if he can supply you with some - Cleaning out our girls today and
  11. Cheque is on its way! If I can spare £5 to be donator, should at least do same for something that can make a differance Looked after an elderly friend who ended up spending her last few months in our local hospital, due to lack of funding/hospice care. They were wonderful in the hospital, but never the less not set up for the hospice care. Hope you wife has a wonderful time for a worthy cause.

    shit stirring

Ok so dont use the chat room, there is some pretty silly stuff in there, But dont have your account deleted (or do you just mean from chat room) You still get to have contact on here, and people cant use anyone elses name unless they know login password. Ok so there isnt quite the immediate chat back, but also less chance of abuse as everyone sees these entries. As a female, realise that some things can be taken too far, Hard balance for some people to get sometimes. If they arent antis, then they are just who dont know any better. Glad however that there are other halves out there who a
  13. congrats just come in from first lot of milking, you nearly ruined my day!!! when saw she had been nicked. Anyway glad you got her back. Do you think your mum would let her in your house? just incase the b******* had the nerve to come back? Sounds like micro chipping might be a good idea. Well done. Would be gutted if either of my two went missing and one is only 12mths so know how you must have felt.
  14. OOps, you didnt want to do it like that Really anoying. Another thing not to do with your digital camera is remove the data card when the camera is turned on! I was busy doing the know it all daughter, whilst trying to show my 69 year old mother the joys of technology and how easy the camera was, didnt realise though what happened when you removed card with camera on. Boy did i feel like a plonker! Lost quite a few pics, only consolation is that 6months down the line I cant remember for the life of me what they were!

Oh not just Hunting life playing up then Mind you we had conection problems when we first moved into new rented house, all the checks with BT said line was fine ( sometimes we would be connected for 2mins sometime 2hrs they internet would really slow down and kick us off) Problems only sorted when an engineer came out. Turned out that one of our telephone boxes was leaking a bit and with the bad weather we had a few months back was causing an intermitant short? If it is pc in general, then would have thought defrag might help, plus know somewhere on desktop there are power saver opt
  16. Definately worth getting in touch with local Firearms officer, they can be a real bonus to have on your side. Local one to us is female They guys love it, but she is no push over, just fair! BASC sounds like sound option to follow. At the end of the day, Dont give up at the first hurdle, its worth a go If you dont try you will never know. All the best
  17. real sorry to hear that. Try and smile, little consolation I know, but at least you had it for a good while and hopefully have loads of great memories.

might make no differance at all but have you tried all the maintenance things like defraging you files and removing all the temp internet files you will inadvertantly collect? May make no differance at all but might uncorupt something? It hasnt been just today an on HL has it? only ask because I have had a b of a problem with it today, (Sat).
  19. Depends how many of what sex you have? if you only have the one male and several females, cost wise got to be cheaper to do male, would be worth Vesectamising him though as he would still be able to do the business when the girls come on season but not get them pregnant? As i have said on other threads, you even get the chance to pimp him out for a few pints with other owners who dont want young. I would obviously meen you would have to borrow a hob if you want young in future. but at least girls would still be furtile.. Have heard a few people mention risk of hob still getting jills pregna
  20. now I really am worried looks like most people still have TV! Used to work in care field, they say it can eventually turn you Maybe its already happened to me and I dont realise what an odd ball I am Might also explain why TV liscencing dont believe me when I say I dont have one Steve do as my other half does, Just close your eyes ! Out of interest, have you asked her what she would look at if she didnt have telly?
  21. If an animal is suffering then we are as bad as the people doing it if we sit back and let it happen IF you think it is ok for dogs to be mistreated, then you are probably the sort who agree with allowing your quarry to suffer, if you agree to this than you are not a true sportsman. As for who else to donate to? Can you not donate to your local independant animal shelter. There must be an independant Lurcher rescue? to help with the dogs that come from twits that dont care. Either that or someone Like Blue cross, who at least help those who do care and cant afford costly vets bills.
  22. If you are seriously looking for another net, would recommend you speak to Gypo Joe, Hes your man, Mole Trapper ordered one the other day and is over the moon with it.

    slug pellets

can vouch for the slug beer traps, only trouble is you by even cheap beer and you have to fight someone to stop them drinking it! . Out of interest, what is the best way to get rid of the then dead drunk slugs? will birds eat them and if so get drunk? or will they just not eat them?
  24. Both me and other half are total telly addicts, however whenever there is talk on the site about a program thats been on, were at a loss Why? Cause for the last 13 years we havent had a telly. Just wondering if there are many others out there that have given up the habbit? and why? The amount of extra time we have each day is unbelivable, dont know where people fit everything in if they watch television as well We just got fed up with always having to listen to depressing news and only having repeats and adverts to what the rest of the time. Got to admit though, it is de
  25. I've seen a number of her close relatives with temperament problems, and one or two with bad front feet. Luck of the draw perhaps? As of yet our first cross hasnt had any problems with feet, I think like humans some dogs like mixing and some are just a bit more choosy. Our two had to be social from an early age, trained them in the pub Met plenty and only dont like a few. Think like you say Smallmouth it can be luck of the draw. The oldest is the same size as yours with the 5/8 3/8 being a couple of inches taller. What they lack in size they certainly make up for in muscle.
