  1. my mates 3/4 whippet collie he's pleased with it's progress about 7 months old now this its much younger
  2. I suppose you'd class this one in red collar as coursing bred sire last winner of moonlake cup dam the brindle bitch in the previous photos The next photo is his brother (BRINDLE ) Also in red collar Their uncle tree climbing again
  3. someone has asked me if I know when the EDRD final is her whippet won a show lately and qualified I just wondered if anyone knew where and when thanks at Rob
  4. Nice youngster very whippet like the give away is the thicker tail all the best with her
  5. I've got 5 whippets but only the one lies like that
  6. It's a pedigree race bred whippet going back to some old American racing pedigree lines also classic old English breeding Deepridge, but doesn't look typical probably because it's been bred for performance rather than looks nice looking dog
  7. If every dog by law was dna tested at birth it may be possible but I'd agree with Riohog it's probably not very accurate
  8. I always thought that DNA couldn't be used to determine breeds unless it's used with a comprehensive DNA DATABASE so that the dogs that are in your dog would have to have their DNA catalogued as well. It's like if you take the DNA of a ped whippet I don't think they can determine whether it's had some non ped blood sneaked into it's ped simply by looking at the DNA only by comparing it with the DNA of it's supposed ancestors which would have to be on database as well. I may be wrong but I'd keep my money in my pocket
  9. He's obviously an idiot who presumes so much and knows so little it sounds like a decent combination to me
  10. I never seen the original thread unless it was started a good while back. But coursing with whippets started seriously (organised) early 60s with many different lines taking part over the years. Lagunas obviously (alot of sooty sam early breeding is from coursing stock), nimrodel (colonel walsh used favour this line) Moonlake from the 70s madison moonlake 3x winner nichol cup changed to moonlake in his honour, Chyton (copy press from moonlake breeding one of only two show and coursing champs other = Sound Barrier), Jimanica started from lagunas / sound barrier in 70slast winners of moonlake
  11. Whippets are the most intelligent pure sight hounds but I am slightly biased.
  12. http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ethiopian+wolf&hl=en&qscrl=1&rlz=1T4GGLL_enGB344GB344&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=ADBDUKnlF8nK0QX3iYGQBw&sqi=2&ved=0CC8QsAQ&biw=1015&bih=506It could be the Ethiopian Wolf a red long legged wolf that hunts solitary but lives in packs also known as the Simien fox lives at altitude so is used to thin air = stamina
  13. fairplay mate there was me thinking catching a rabbit isn't ever a foregone conclusion lol Thanks for putting me straight
  14. ..........the white or the brindle? The young apprentice with her own catch
  15. thats the plan but sometimes you get the worst qualities instead Very true
  16. Even for whippets to be compared with lurchers just shows what cracking little pure bred dog they are. A lurcher combines the best qualities of many breeds to produce the ultimate hunting dog the gene pool is potentially endless. Pedigree whippets are great little dogs' easy to keep and can be too brave for their own good they're not going to suit everyone but when mine have been out with lurchers daytime it's the whippets that have invariably caught they always hold their own and each to their own
