Well I did blank............. Again. Seven times now. But I tell you what. The river came alive after dark. There were fish topping everywhere, some big fish too. Im deffo going to fish that peg again. Towards the end I was getting what I would call "Liners" Just as though the fishes fins were catching the line. But sadly no takes. Nice night too. Full clear Moon, no clouds to speak of, very still, no one else there. Lovely. Pitty iv'e got work tomorrow, else i'd have stayed longer. ........May need to take one of the dogs next time though, fu*king Mink at me feet. Trying to get at m

Tonight's offering. One swim downstream from Mondays peg. Feeder across, straight lead down the middle. Usual array of wildlife. Very weak signal. The fish photo may have to wait until a better signal is found. Here's hoping.

Iv'e got to catch a Barbel out of the Dove, simple as. Iv'e set myself up for it. A small river with only a few Barbel in it, but big ones. It could be a long and hard job, but i can't give in. The Trent is a different propect. Smaller Barbel and more of them. Big casts, big-heavy feeders, lots of casting. Fast flowing and a busier style of fishing. Not just sitting there and waiting (Like on the Dove) But being busy and casting regulary and waiting for the fish to turn up...............Hopefully. It's all doing my nut inTBH, but i can't stop untill i get one.

The Trent is next on the list, but I've fished it lots before. I've set my stall out for a Dove Barbel. Some of the Dove is heavily fished, the bits where the biggest fish are strangely enough. I think there arent many fish in there, what fish there are are big and they mostly feed at night. That's at bit awkward for me midweek. I may have to fish all night at the weekend.

Excellent photos as usual. Can't get one of mine in water for love nor money.

Same sh*t, different day. I thought "Tonights the night" too. Looked good and the weather was spot on. I spoke to another angler after packing up. He said all the fish he's caught, he'd caught during the night. 4am. I can only fish till about 11pm on a work night.

Tonight's offering. G/B feeder upstream. Loose fed Pellet downstream. Pellet on the hook D/S. Barbel "Chunk" on the U/S rod.

Union for me. But Rugby all the way. We used to have aThursday night Cricket team made up of the Rugby lads, just a bit of fun in the off season. Some of the Cricket teams took it too far, what with sledging and that. Funnily enough, none of them wanted to play a return game of Rugby against us.

top pics as usual.

The price for Ossie's insurance was £42 a month. He'd had a few stiches injurys and his age goes against him. We don't bother anymore. Tess is insured however. If he gets a really bad injury, broken leg say, it's PTS i'm afraid. If it's not too bad, we'll get a loan and pay it back that way rather than pay insurance. It's not just the Vets that are ripping us off. Nice to see the dog is home.

I haven't watched a single minute of the World Cup. A bit like Barbel fishing on the river Dove...............................Boring.

I asked about that too. "Can't have it done" was the answer. Iv'e had them in all day today, still struggling to see through them. Back to the opticians Tuesday.

At the rate i'm going there'll be a set of Barbel gear for sale soon...................... You could use that.

Old estate lake Kev, oringinally owned by the Coal Board. Standard Bream fishing. Clipped up G/B feeder with Caster and Squatt. Double Red Maggot on the hook. Corn of Worm later for the bigger bream, if they show. Iv'e fished here for the best part of 30yrs, it used to be all Bream fishing. Mainly Skimmers with the odd Bream up to 3-4lb. It also has Carp in it to mid 30's. Since the Carp boom, you struggle to get on it at the weekends. The matches used to be 70 peg sell outs, back in the day. Everyone fishing the feeder. Those who could cast the farthest generally won. Those with secret G/

End of day catch. Fished a lot harder than I thought it would. Nice to catch a few though. Enjoyed it.

Put the lenses in, can't see feck all. I'm fishing tomorrow, can't even see the Maggots in the box. Glasses tomorrow.

I'm on a stillwater tomorrow. Hopefully i'll actually catch a fish. 6 trips this year and no fish. Back on the Dove soon, so normal service resumed.

Neither can I. Every swim iv'e looked at looks bob on for a stick float and Maggot approch. Trouble is, iv'e set my stall out for a Barbel. I'll give it a go on the float soon.
