  1. Tight lines. What method and baits are you going to use? The earlier photo looks like pellets. To be honest barbel are not a shy fish and if you can locate them, they should take most baits presented properly. If it was me I'd use lobworms or meat using as light a rig as the current will allow over some groundbait with a bit of hemp mixed in. I know it's not very modern, but it usually works for me 12mm hair rigged Halibut pellet. Size 8 hook to 3 foot 14lb Korda Supernatural braid hook length. Running lead clip with an 2oz lead to 12lb Daiwa Sensor mainline. Greys Prodigy 2lbs TC Barbel
  2. Going again tomorrow night. Different stretch this time.
  3. I tell you one thing. If i'm ever lucky enough to catch a Barbel. There's gonna be a photo posted no matter how fu*king small it is.................
  4. No worries. I come from a match fishing background. Just sitting there and waiting for a bite isn't what i'm used to. Only just got into the Barbel scene. Set my stall out for a double this season. Got a week off soon, i'll be giving it a real go then.
  5. How can you not catch a Barbel out of this peg ??
  6. Alright, alright. No need to rub it in. Packed up at 11pm. No more bites. So, two trips now, two bites, two lost fish. Seems to be a pattern forming here. Nice day out with lots of wildlife. Kingfishers, Herons, Barn Owl. Bats hitting my line. Just no fish. Wondering if i'm doing something wrong, don't think i am. Maybe it's just hard ??
  7. Coffees all gone and it's started to rain. Gonna give it another hour.
  8. Fu*k it. Only bite of the session and I've lost it. Tw@t.
  9. arch you ever fish the soar?I have, but I'm not that keen on it. Sutton Bonnington and Normanton I can just about stand, the rest I don't enjoyTBH. If you wanted a day out though I'd come with you. Sutton would be alright for you. 5 mins from me ...thought it would be near for you without hitting the m1 30 minutes for me, through Shepshed. Give me a shout if you fancy it.

  11. I'm on the river now, been here since 2 ish. Not even a sniff. Going to give it 3 or 4 more hours then rod up. Seen Plenty of Kingfishers though, so not so bad.
  12. Plenty of game in the woods near Wells beach. So i'm told. Lovely area and a cracking beach too. Have a good un.
  13. how did you get on Didn't manage to get out Bob. The new lads doing their training with us, didn't finish the job they were doing, so I was late getting home at around 5:30 ish. The M1 was closed due to an earlier Lorry fire and all the roads were chocker. The river is 45 minutes away on a good day. So I stayed at home and watched the football instead. ................................................Actually, some of that is bol*ocks. I walked the dogs instead of watching the Football. Weekend now. Fingers crossed.
  14. Gonna try and get out again tomorrow night (Thursday) Don't suppose many pegs will be taken then.
  15. 4 and a half hours, One bite, One lost fish (Small one, Barbless hook) Most of the better looking pegs had already gone when I got there. All a bit rusty due to not fishing much last year, but enjoyed it.
  16. Didn't bid on anything, but donated instead. Best of luck with your action. :victory:
  17. Thats not you!!! Fook me, you take a better pic than you look in real life. I got 5 litre can of Old Speckled Hen. Might be a struggle to keep it untill the fishing comp.
  18. All being well** I'll be on the river tomorrow afternoon. Not sure which river yet. Trent or the Dove. Travelling light. I'm after the Barbel or Chub, not bothered which grace my net. Here's hoping. ** We've got some new lads training with us tomorrow. Just depends if they get done early enough so I can get off sharpish.
  19. Got 2 of them. They do what i want. My 2 are more pets than workers. I'm only a Moucher, with a bit of lamping now and again, but i'm more than happy. They live in doors and were already house trained, so none of that to worry about. Ossie can be a handful from time to time, but Tess is spot on. Most dogs aren't in rescues through their own fault.
  20. Ossie. Just short of 27" Won't do as he's told. Won't retreive. Crap recall. Dislikes other dogs (especially Black Labs). Found in our garden, then stayed here ever since. But not going anywhere soon.
  21. I'll get Michelle to do a big pot of Chilli and i'll do some rice on the Friday night, save you having to cook owt.
  22. Remember one of the rules is no fishing the match lake prior to the comp ....... .........Define "Prior" ?? Long time till the match. ;)
