In reply to your questions Coypu, there is only one way of fitting the sleeve as Steve Pope states in the instruction, the sleeve gap is at the opposite side of the cocking slot.
So when you fit it you don't see the spring in a 97.
The next answer is you have a spring guide at the thread end of the cylinder.
This is the one longer of the guides, the short stubby guide is known as a tophat.
In my experience it makes no difference where you put the delrin washer but I'd stick with the instructions from V-mach.
