  1. P.S. That's an awesome looking stock. I am forever on the lookout for a good quality Ginb or similar for my . Missed one on the evil bay. Gutted, old age again lol
  2. Was sorting out my spares tonight and found a V-mach sleeve for an . I will pop it in the piston as a freeby. I used it for a template to make a few sleeves then as is my usual I forgot I had it. Old age
  3. Cheers pal. I love working on air rifles and can't do anymore to my two 80s and 97k. Cheers Chris
  4. Sure mate. Give me a shout any time. Just a case of posting the piston and I will send it back ready to fit back in with correctly sized delrin rings and piston polished up. You can let me know if you need a top hat too as if so the addition of this will save you buying a drop in kit.
  5. It costs about 200 from V-mach and they supply a sleeve piston glided replacement swap for your old piston and sprig with top hat and giude. I can machine you piston which will do the same job if you want. It's a case of sending your piston to me for the work to be done.
  6. Hi folks. A glided piston will help with recoil. Did both of mines plus for other folks and it's a great improvement.
  7. Got a Weihrauch HW80 V-Glide fully tuned .177 or .22 whatever you want with a scope for £200 posted. All work including a trigger tune done by me. a seriously accurate gun. I have different springs and barrels so whatever calibre is needed I can cater for.
  8. No worries pal. I am gonna do a pic diary from start to finish of a HW 97 or tune up so folks can see what's involved. Just need to get a project gun first. C
  9. Hello again. I did not say properly what I meant on 20 years. What I meant was that it does not need anymore tuning work and that a service now and then is part of the looking after of our guns. They really don't need much grease to run well. When running on delrin mines have a minute amount on the piston and nothing on the trigger
  10. Hi mate. I have heard people say that they take out their v-mach. It's just personal taste but Steve Pope is a tuning genius and his work and kits are brilliant. Don't listen to all the chatter about thread lock etc. I have seen over the last few years that some folk get a bit OCD and carried away. I have worked on many a rifle and a trigger tune along with any tuning kit and the all important 2 delrin rings fitted to the piston then a light smear of Bisley gun grease then the gun is ready to shoot perfectly for the next 20 years. Some of the lads talk some serious rubbish on tuning. Do
  11. They are factory honed. I have only had to hone one in the last dozen or so. The V-mach pistons can be tight. The Weihrauch pistons are usually pretty good without any work. Imo I stick with Steve Pope's springs and kits. C
  12. Best not to touch the cylinder bore as it's usually fine. I have a hone fitted to my Boxford as my fac had a tight spot in the cylinder bore. I size tight piston seals on the lathe with fine emery glued to a flat faced tool fixed in the tool post. It's a case of a little buff then try till its sliding nicely in the cylinder. The lathe is great for really precise sizing. I also use it for polishing trigger sears as I can fix the at their correct angle and hone their faces very accurately. I still think the trigger tune is over looked sometimes. Makes a huge difference to a springers a
  13. Getting lost here dude. Do you have a V-MACH piston sleeve already. I understand you need a weihrauch sleeve. Both in the piston works well with a V-mach spring. £1.50?? ;-)
  14. The V-mach sleeve is very slim to fit inside the maker. I will have a look to see if I have a makers one in my stuff
  15. Ok. Sorry senior moment for me as they are sleeves not liners. Are you sure there is no sleave in the piston? If you look at the piston slot can you see the spring or is it metal. Normally they have the makers sleeve inside. Chris
  16. Learn somit new everyday. Had no idea the new ones had a delrin washer! Must get a look in one for curiosity. C
  17. That's right it's metal on metal which works away ok but the intro of gliding etc reduces friction and gives a much closer tolerance to the moving parts which reduces recoil and bounce. This makes for a more accurate shooting with a proper well practised shooting technique. I like Steve Pope's aftermarket stuff. Also Sandwell Field Sports are spot on too. My old .22 is glided and fettled to the point I can't do anymore other than cosmetics and in fac it's a superb hunting tool that looks ok (a tad scruffy even!) but shoots amazing.
  18. They are different but serve the same purpose. Gliding is a continuous rind of delrin or oilon at either end of the piston. Buttons are 4 delrin or oilon button about 5 mm in diameter drilled into either end of the piston. Sorry can't get pics up on here these days fo some reason.
  19. The basic strip clean and re lube is so simple mate. There's plenty of vids on you tube to show you how. The more advanced tunes including gliding the piston etc requires a lathe. The trigger tune is fiddly but not very difficult and great care must be taken to not change any of the angles on the faces being polished. The trigger tune alone makes a big difference. Chris
  20. Is it to fit inside the original liner or is it for a piston without a liner?
  21. The liners are best made with shim steel. It's what V-mach and the original Weihrauch liner is made of. It lasts for years
  22. I can glide your springers. Fit a tophat, piston liner, tune the trigger and fit a new breach seal for £120 posted back to you with a photo diary of the work being done. Chris
  23. Hey bud. What spring you got in her. Glad you getting on with this awesome rifle C
  24. I opted for a highly tuned .177 97 in an ambi 77 laminate stock. It has a Steve Pope V-Glide piston and internals and a tuned trigger. Shot both and thus is a mile better in my opinion. A real beauty
