It would be down to the amp of the battery against the candle power of the lamp.
Your part right.Its not the candle power of the lamp,but the wattage of the bulb & how many amps the buld runs at.If you look on my topics i did a thread on how to workout battery run times if your intrested.
As for the original question,a 17ah batt is a 17ah batt.Though you will get better run time from better quality batterys.Other than weight.Lithium batterys take about half the time to charge & you dont get the memory effect with the charger/battery.
