Doxhope I know the Subaru model you first had as my driving instructor had one and he loved it! Yes stabs we had no bother with that one at all, good mpg everything, dont know why they stopped it..Had it up some queer palces on the borders, had my mate hanging on the edge of his seat at times

College Valley and North Northumberland Hunt

Have to agree with a lot that chartpolski said, I like the hunt supporters shows, and have supported loads over the years, but their skills at putting on an event, at times, borders on the ludicrus..I remember judging the Morpeth hunt years ago, and during the show the parade of hounds came through as if on the scent of a hound, nearly ploughed us down if we hadnt got out the way..at Anccrum a well to do lady asked if she could put her goat into the show, the organiser had more or less agreed, until I as the co-judge said no way...and judges, it seems that employing someone that had a collie o -
My first Subaru was a 1600 cc model, (we used to put all our money from poaching into a jar at that time to pay for the bairns Christmas pressys, and this this year we also bought that car, and taxed and insured it) stopped making these ages ago, pity... Then had a few different 1800 cc`s, all got to places that were unbelievable, more just to find good parking places, or get to less accessable places, rather than to shoot or hunt from, just have to watch for the ground clearance, and straddle trackor rutts etc. Diahatsu fourtrak, now that was better, except the early F50`S were rot boxes, b

Rabbits easier, but blueyins probably not far behind

I put some coursing clips on there, and it attracted more idiots and shit than you could believe possible, had me sweating like a geordie in a spelling exam..Took them off and cancelled my account in the end, blocked some of the worst ones, and they actually changed their account names to give me more shit.... Hate arguing with someone thats not well within striking distance

Cheers Gin, Ive been to this show a couple of times over the decades, when Basil Smalley ran it, always tend to miss it nowerdays, find out its been on after the event. And, what a beautiful part of Northumberland its set in -
If I didnt have rabbits not too far away, Id be going Yorkshire tway, Mr Hosker assures me he was taking 60+ during the day when he lived over here

We have fells up here in Northumberland too, great place to get daylight rabbits with dogs..Nothing better than tramping these places and watching dogs working rabbits up, Ive had some great days sport, and even my deerhounds have got into double figures there. And bolting rabbits with ferrets for dogs, well this must be the easiest sport in the world in daylight for dogs..any cross will pick this up

I did taxidermy years ago, and when I was stripping the flesh off fox skulls doing the masks, I threw this raw to my dogs, most of my lurchers wouldnt eat it, but my deerhounds always ate it..Aonther time a deerhound bitch pulled the puddings out of a fox it had killed and was eating them..took some getting away from it

Hi H&B, if its first cross deerhound x greyhounds your talking about, the smallest ones we have bred were 25 inch (bitches) Ive only bred/kept/worked 2 first crossers, a bitch and a dog, 27 inches and 28 inches respectively. The bitch had more scope as a worker, and when took into rabbit infested areas she regularly got into the hight twenties..I was out with Axel off the Lurchermaina videos one night and saw him get 30, not on a heavily populated rabbit farm so he had to work for them. These crosses may not have the nimbleness required for a great rabbit dog, but they dont muck on, th

Half 11, dose your mam let you stay out till then I had a job where I finished at 12, great shifts for lamping, I was on this shift for a week at a time, once every 6 weeks, out every night on that shift, bloody great, and a couple of rabbits to show for it Got a deerhound bitch, 13 years old in December..Waiting for a deerhound pup to be born and will be breeding a few litters in the future...Lurcher wise I would want an alrounder, but nothing around here now..Kevin Hales dog in Bedlington now I would have a pup out of him, deerhound/greyhound x collie/greyhound Get yourself back to be

Lauder area, ahh, now there was a place for bunnies, we got 3000 rabbits in 5 months from Carfraemill, all methods...but for lurchering, it was a lampers paradise Seen a few first cross saluki greyhound first crossers from Ashington up there before the rabbit netting went in, these didnt get into the high numbers, but they did get 5 hare a day on the fens. Would love to see salukis working matie if there is ever a chance, seen them on the blueys with the Saluki coursing club, and up Dava with the combined deerhound coursing events, but never seen them lamping..

Yes the bitch was made up to American champion

Get home at 11 We didnt start lamping till 1 in the morning, got back home just in time to put the dogs in and get to work for 8...Battery was put straight on charge in case it was a good night that night, got a few hours kip after work, (sometimes). Walked around all day in a trance at times..Once had six hours sleep in 3 days because of windy nights in my younger days...and I know, your going to think Im kidding but Im not

Aye, but it didnt happen too often I can assure you...do you heed in but I was a glutten for punishment in those days, and would try anything I had a home made slip lead with a slip at both ends, and the third dogs leader was fastened around my waist. Ive even done this with 2 lurchers and one deerhound out on the same night..

Is this the same Gary hosker that used to write in the shooting news? from the U.K.? Yes matie its the same Gary Hosker.. He imported 2 pure working deerhounds from me in the early nineties, he also has contacts over there that might be able to help you. PM me if you need his email address..Like its been mentioned not all dogs aclimatise to the weather over there, depending which state. Staghound crosses seem to be able too, and there are a lot of them over there.
