  1. You can come with me if you like As long as you can get to Australia .
  2. Try 1.2mm stainless 7x7 with a small washer lock. 4" 90mm in diameter 20mm beween bottom of snare and branch/pole. Secure with 2.5mm sofe fencing wire witha wammy or rubber tube sleve. This works fine on possums going up and coming down. To ensure they use the right path - set up stick guides. Hope it works well for you.
  3. I read your posts with great interest. Being a keen snaresman I am always looking to broaden my skills. Snaring rats (Blacks & Norways) is of particular interest to me. I would love to see some pics & or drawing of sets and techniques if anyone is inclined to share them. I'm happy to share my pics & stories but I'm a little gun shy after the furore I caused with the pics of the trapped foxes last year.
  4. Rocking horse shit is in abundance compared to the number of patterdales down here. There are a few imports here which were originated in the UK Goulds, Nuttals and a few other unkown lines. However the number of dogs is very low compared to the number of active fox hunters here. Fox hunting is very popular down here. Most commonly they are spotlit (lamped) & shot. Fox drives using packs of hounds of all breeds is popular in rural areas. Hunting with staghounds (lurchers) and digging with terriers is popular in many areas. Our digging terriers are usually JR's and miniature fox terriers wi

  6. Anyone keen on doing a spot of digging in Victoria starting June please pm me. International visitors welcome! Digging for foxes in many places Australia isn't i'llegal yet .
  7. It is tragic to see the future of the great working breeds left in the hands of those who don't work them. Alas, as our ranks dwindle so do the chances the survival our brave little hunting partners...................
  8. Do you mean let the dog gourge till full then fast for a day or feed a set meal then fast ? Ive found when a dog is working 3-4 days a week in the winter its a job to keep the weight on so dont do it any more .The theory behind the fast is to clear the gut and bowel out and also watch the weight in summer. It does produce better toned dogs ,though,as their bodies learn to burn excess fat faster. If you are working your dog hard 3-4 days a week no matter how much or often you feed him he won't keep weight on. Unlike us, dogs eat till full and then cache their food to return later to fe
  9. THAT, is a bullet proof JRT......................
  10. Full grown dogs one good feed every 2 days plenty of water.

  12. My highly honed powers of observation indicate that someone has changed the picture of the terrier on the header of the page. The new black terrier looks like what I am looking for. Can anyone tell me about the dog, breeding and who has any for sale? What was the breeding of the red terrier who was replaced by the new one?????????????
  13. She looks the goods. My APBT bitch is almost identical to her. What % of working Patts have the P-bull blood infusion and what is the most desirable %?
  14. I'd like to see a pic if you have one. I am waiting for my p-bull bith to come on so I can put the Patt dog over her. I reckon they will make good bush bashers on pigs and deer?
  15. Deerhunter.com.au is back on the air and starting from scratch.............your help to get us rolling will be appreciated. Cheers, SGP
  16. They are ALL good. Dogs rely on their sense of smell as much as we rely on our eyesight. Certain idividuals within breeds have better noses than others - some are methodical and slow and others go flat knacker and miss what others find. This applies to breeds renown for thier scent trailing ability such as hounds, spaniels, pointers etc. JMHO
  17. Great looking dogs. What breeding is the back & brown?
  18. The shit machine sounds like it needs a look up the tube A hard mastif would have eaten the terrier.
  19. Chocolate is highly toxic to dogs. If they eat enough it will kill them. The vet sounds like a good option.
  20. At the risk of sounding like a knucklehead Can someone tell me what breed of dog this is and what is their specialty?
  21. They are hard to kill. They blind dogs. That's why god invented the 22.250 Remington and the Conibear 330............................
  22. "More flak for us with the antis" - Fcuk! How much more flack can they give us? This is the best INTERNATIONAL site I have been able to find. In some countries foxes are intoduced vermin there are no closed seasons. It would be a shame to sensor posts put up by members who hunt outside the UK. Great pics matulkoh
  23. I have been reading these forums with great interest for over a year now. I'm still a little confused about the designation and breeding or working terriers - In particular Patterdales. I have been fortunate enough to get my hands on some pretty handy little terriers. I have five Patterdales, a couple of pit bulls, and a jack russell. My Patterdale bitch (jet back) had had a litter of pups to my Patterdale dog (jet black). There were five pups - two black & tans, two grizzled and one red. Is this a common thing?
