  8. Went ferretting on monday with my nephew and mate George, Took the terrier today to alternate the work for each dog a 10 years old she has been a good worker for me catching her fair share over the years. On netting up the 1st set we send the jill down and within a minute heard some action below the ground 2 rabbits bolted my side into seperate nets.1 hole that was hard to set a purse net over caught 1 which the terrier worked well to get under the gorse/thorns and hold it.On dispatching a rabbit from net another bolted fromt he same hole making its way to safety.7 bolted,Catching 5 .The next h

  10. Spoke to someone that stocked rabbits that needed 10 for animal feeding. It was agreed that if I could catch them by thew weekend they would be sold.Off I set on to some permission I had about 6 miles away. After working my permission of about 11 field I had 6 in the bag.Not wanting to return without 10 I walked the public footpath lamping About 4-5 fields from the hedge rows.Ended up with 9.On the way home I called into some ground in my village a caught another 3 from about 5 fields.Getting us to 12.I carried 9 on my shoulder for about a mile I would like to know what the guys that carry 30-40
  11. Purchase some Bone-radiol the blue one from a farming horse store and apply by toothbrush 3 days on 3 days off.A product called Tiger balm is similar from Boots/Chemists.Keep nails as short as possible to ease pressure.Give it 2 weeks should be ok
  12. Hope he gets well soon.Try a couple of tea spoons of vegtable oil or honey morning & evening.High in calories and bit of minced beef.So many creul b*****ds out there.
  13. Have owned Lurchers and straight whippets.Much the same have always started lamping around 10 months.
  14. VERY GOOD LURES THE TRACK I RUN AT HAS BOUGHT ONE,A GREAT PEICE OF KIT WITH BEARINGS ON WHEEL TO EASE PRESSURE ON MOTOR.WELL WORTH IT,A LIGHT WEIGHT,WELL BALANCED
  15. 1 Hour free running 5 nights a week for 2 weeks then just start lamping,Make sure nails are trimmed.Would feel that any roadwork over 3 miles would make a dog to muscle bound.1 nights lamping a week and a evening free running should keep them fit.
  16. Try Parkstone Whippets in Lancashire has 2 good dogs both work with plenty of fire and chasing instinct.
  17. Pups are mainly the same size regardless,Its the rate they grow at and the dams ability to cope with amount of milk required at say 4 weeks, you just have to help them alittle. Some ped whippet pups have been known to be 1lbs at birth
  18. Have seen this before know of a guy that named his dog "Ball" Hence the problem. From my times its been seen mainly in racing dogs, The retained testicle has been cut out and the other left,Leaving the dog able to sire pups if needed to do so in future. Don't like castrating/spaying any dog.
  19. Bought in a pair of ferrets that had to be sold together (Mother & Son), I just keep jills and don't want a accident next year.He is 18 months old,Lets you look at teeth and has been worked about 6 times.Telephone: 07818848183 if interested
  20. Steriods in sport/Running dog. I always like to look at the Ethiopian and Kenya distance runners, The only FAT and MUSCLE they carry is on their legs. This is like a coursing dog in human terms. To train they just run and build stamina. They can maintain a good level of running for good periods. If a dog is too muscled they lose the graceful running movement/agility.
