  7. As said by Tyla, I think your asking way to much of her, she must be threating something terrible when she gets left behind. To be honest I dont let mine go into thick cover until getting on to 12 months old. Imagine if she did go in and ran head on into a fox especially this time of year if they had young with them. Your pup could get smashed to bits, then you would never get her confidence up. I start all mine in the woods. I stick to the paths to start with and let the young dog have a good sniff about, they will often soon start darting in the light cover and low trees, ifva squirrel or tw
  8. I bought a second hand finder at the begining of the season Iam having mixed results with it due to it giving me the wrong readings. When i measured a point out at home with a tape measure at 3ft its giving me a reading of 8ft. Is it possible to get these units re-calibrated? If so does anyone know how to or where to send it to be done. Thanks Thorny

  14. cheers mate and thanks for that I have also been going mad, so comforting to hear this is something that other peoples ferrets have done for no reason at all. Yeah I am on the look out for a few young stinkers, but down here in kent for some weird reason seem rarer than hens teeth. cheers
  15. Had both my jills covered this spring by a local lads hob. My jills are litter sisters and about 14 months old. The hob stayed for the week all went well. Both jills took and by the time they where around the five week mark they were nice and plump lazing around all day and very obviously pregnant. At this point I split them up in to separate hutches so they had a week or so to settle build a nest and just do whatever it is they do. Both hutches are 2 tier hutches so I don't have to disturb the nesting area of either Jill. Sadly things never went well at all. Never even see the kits of one of
  16. Looking for some information on what I need to produce to my vet for him to dock tails, of my expected litter of Russells. My vet said he will do the procedure on the pups but was a little shady on what information he needs for proof they are working dogs. I do not have a shotgun liscence, I do have permission to work her on farmers land, I am also a member of N.O.B.S and am a regular on my local shoot with my bitch working in the beating line. Can anyone tell me what I need to take down to him in the next few days so when pups are born all the paperwork is sorted and the pups can be docked wi
  17. they are an old grannys dog that are riddled with desease, heart problems, massive kidney failure and horrific eye problems, skin complaints, the list is endless another Kennel club sucsess story. All these could bring to a working dog is generations of unhealthy animals. Why fix what isnt broken just line your pat to another pat "simples"
  18. Lovely pup mate and nice to see someone with a nice back garden, rather than the usual scrap heap

  20. Sounds a handy dog mate. My girl is a couple of years old and although this is only her second full season she does what I need of her. My only real intension of breeding is to keep a pup myself as I could do with a pair. I shall have her spayed after pups. Just fancied having my own litter rather than buying another dog in. What size is your lad he sounds a bit on the big side for my wee lassie. She is only 12"tts and weighs 19lb
