  1. get him out i bet he will take to it like a duck to water, looks a lively type
  2. I think he looks a cracking little dog Trinder
  3. Great post and nice to see some pictures. My girl is about 14 months now. She has fitted in a treat, she works very well along side My lurcher flushing stuff from cover. She is also a bit of a demon around rats and mice, so plan to do more stuff like that with her on her own. She has been hard work breaking to the ferrets but good with them now although I dont think I would take her out rabbiting with them but looking forward to see how they work together on rats in a few barns I have just secured. She is pretty nimble and just getting her flying wings
  4. She just started going out with the lurcher as a pup. Lurcher always retrieve live to hand. I used to dispatch the bunny then tease the jack with it . Then place it just a shoulders length in the brambles then a bit further in, and so on and so on. Always using the command "lost", She would go and get it out. Now just the command and a finger point and she is gone. Only thing I have found is she needs a good looking over when we get home the amount of thorns I find in her is crazy. Thanks for all the positive comments, I know little jacks arnt everyone`s cup of tea but for what I want her for
  5. cheers mate she is a strong little thing. Her sire has to be one of the strongest looking little Russells I have ever seen. Although on a smaller scale she has thrown more to him than her dam, and is now starting to pack muscle on like him also.
  6. Thanks very much she is 10.5" tts, so not the biggest, but perfect for disapearing into hollows made by bunnys in the thickest of cover. If theres something in there she will find it. She pulled a large buck with Mixy from thick cover last week. It was kicking the hell out of her and pound for pound probabley weighed more than her. It was nice to see she is gaining in confidence and spirit almost daily. Even my lurcher looked at her as if to say fare play. I was hoping she would of been maybe an inch or two taller, but the way she is going there is plenty of fire in the tank to make up for her
  7. Cheers lads. first little terrier I have ever owned, all good fun so far
  8. Just over a year now, I use her mainly to flush to the lurcher and she is getting the hang of it, but we do a bit of ratting and she loves it. Looking forward to having a full season with her. Cracking little dog to have around the house as well Dont do any ground work and hope she doesnt think she should give it a go. Cheers
  9. sound advise there from Chartpolski, I know just how you feel mate, I went threw the same thing a couple of months back. Bought a puppy home for it to be fighting for its life within less than 24 hours, Mine had come to us with Parvo vets did all they could but she was put to sleep after a couple of days the fight in her had all gone.
  10. if you looking to get him fit for a season`s work this time next year!
  11. I have met paul " rolysmate" several times and he is a very nice fella , however i was surprised and dissapointed to hear that (a) he let this unplanned mating go ahead with an 11 month old bitch ( he sold them saying they would have papers © he hasnt offered the buyers a full or partial refund after finding the kc would not paper the litter . Having said that jarv you maybe should of done some homework on the pup you was buying , you would have seen the dam was very young , i would like to know as much as possible about any pup i was taking on regardless of price I was offered a pu

  16. fantastic looking pup, looks like you are holding her in a wiind tunnel in last picture. I think you made the right choice Thorny
  17. There was a programme on tv the other week on bbc4, me or the dog i think it was called. Some idiot dog owners from over here were sent out to work with a stockman in Oz. He had several dogs a couple of boarders but the rest where Kelpies. Wow what dogs Great show and worth a watch if anyone can find it online Thorny
  18. ha ha yeah i love my vinyl mate, if the little bugger gets his hands on my records he's dead meat! Cheers for the comments lads, his name is Ozzy by the way, i am a big heavy metal fan ha If I'm ever down near you, or your up north, i have a massive vinyl collection you can have. It is just going to waste here seriously?! what sort of music if you don't mind me asking? although to be honest i'll listen to anything! How up north is 'up north'? i'd be tempted by a road trip, love the look of your dogs and your hunting stories, so might bring the pain in the arse pup fo
  19. Smashing looking pup that, and nice to read on here that a pup has gone to a fantastic home, where he will be worked but also a big part of the family. Thats how mine are and thats how it should be. He will pay you back ten fold. Thorny
  20. Colliecurs would be worth a post as well if your a member, There is a lad on there with a fantastic 3/4 reverse beardie cross Thorny
  21. Bryn looks a fantastic prospect mate. One thing I will say is a good quality collie/greyhound litter from working parents, should be very easy to home,Makes things easier when choosing the right homes to place pups in, so good luck with the potential litter.
  22. I am enjoying watching him do his thing, he is a very full of charactor dog, that i will enjoy having as my hunting buddy until he has no more to give, good or bad
  23. That's very interesting Magpie. I have had bull and wheaten blooded dogs in the past alongside a Beardie cross and the latter was the one I had to use my discretion on in terms of holding her back as she wanted to get amongst at a very early age. The bulls and wheaten blooded dogs switched on comparatively later. It's something that the lurcher owner has to be very careful with as if you are used to dealing with strong dog crosses, they tell you when they're ready and when they do, they generally are. With the collie blooded dogs, they can be telling you they're ready but you as the owner sho
