WEBLEY MOSQUITO .22 PELLETS
pianoman replied to dogvixen01's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Phantom I sincerely hope so. My very first air rifle was a Webley & Scott .22. I miss seeing Webley air rifles and the quality range and choice they used to build. Simon -
The greatest guns you ever regretted parting with.

Interesting notes on Gunpower Stealth from Basejumper who misses his and benji benji who clearly hated the one he had. I've heard this gun is one you either love or loathe and here's proof it seems. Andy pal, that's so true mate. The rifles I have are all getting on now but, I'll never part with them for anything. They have survived one mad wife, three bitches and a couple of cows in the time I've had them. My partner Jo is great; she never stops me from getting off to go shooting whenever I want to, consequently I'll do anything she wants help with or needs. That career 707 was one -
Great to read this Bill. I've read from zini's posts and responses how highly he rates the tuning skills of Tony Wall at Sandwell Field Sports. And now here you are! It's really heartwarming to read of chaps like this, who are still out there offering an excellent standard of workmanship and service for reasonable costs. I'm going to get my own HW95 and HW80s sorted by, and treat myself to this Gentleman's handiwork with an HW77 order, once Christmas is out of the way. In the meantime, I'm really keen to hear how your "renewed and improved" HW95 performs on your hunting sorties with it.

Jesus! I know they are superb rifles, but, even at £500 -£600 for a used HW100, that's still seems a hefty wedge. Seems not that long ago when they cost that brand new! I'd say the .22 rimfire/17HMR brigade are the "New Poor" in shooting sports. Can't afford a quality air rifle? Get yourself an FAC! Good luck with your search Thomson. Simon

WEBLEY MOSQUITO .22 PELLETS
pianoman replied to dogvixen01's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi dogvixen. The price of scrap lead went up a few years back and pellet manufacturer's prices shot up accordingly. Then the market price of lead came back down but the prices of pellets are being kept high. There will no doubt be a 101 stated reasons why this is so, but, a severe recession in the economy and the need to keep profits up and people in their jobs will be one of them. There used to be PelPax that offered mixed assortments of pellet brands but, I haven't seen those around in a while. Try Uttings.com. They did sample packs but, in the light of how the cost of lead went u -
Congratulations on a sound buying decision r-o-b-p, if yours is anything like as good as the pair I have, you are in for some memorable shooting with it. What caliber have you got? ATB Simon

The greatest guns you ever regretted parting with.

Good morning Si. I know, and I can honestly feel for you mate. My ex-wife tried to make me sell my guns as assets to be devided but, I (sorry about the pun) stuck to me guns! If I won the lottery I'd go buy em back for you for the simple reason I've really enjoyed the clips on YouTube of your shooting with the Prosport and the Weihrauchs. In the absence of that fateful tumble of numbers, get yourself a new PS whenever you can before it's no longer available. Or can you pull rank on the guy who bought it from you and order its return?!! Cheers mate Simon -
Gentlemen good evening. I was just wondering, and reminiscing, as I see from some of the posts, there is an occasional mention of an air rifle that was sold, or traded, or let go of, or swapped... and usually followed by that immortal sentence "...ohh I wish I still kept it" "God why did I sell it for a...?" Weve all had them. Those brilliant once-in-a-lifetime, milestone air guns that made marksman hunters out of us, that enabled some of us to undertake military service with a skill level ahead of most of the other recruits on the training ranges and gave us some golden memories of great

Hi Owen. No two barrels of the same make and model of gun are so precisely the same, that one make of a particular, suitable pellet type works with utter, absolute perfect accuracy. So pellet makers have been making alternate headsizes that usually overcome these microscopic discrepencies between barrels. Thus, as an example you will find Air Arms/JSB make a superbly accurate .177 and .22 Diabolo roundhead pellet in 4.51 and 4.52mm headsize for .177 barrels and a 5.51mm and 5.52mm headsize in .22. If you shoot a rifle with a barrel that performs consistently well with Air Arms Diabolo Fie

ALMOST FOURTEEN QUID !!! Blimey Phantom that's a price you are paying for .22 AA Field mate... I've heard the price of scrap lead came right down a year or more ago but prices are still high. If there's a better cost-deal to set up supplies here, I'd sure buy from it Simon
-
Ahh Andy you beat me to the draw. Scrutchy, have you got a manufacturer's name, something of how long you've had this rifle, pics if possible, age, calibre, condition, useful clues like that please mate???? ATB Simon

Hiya Andy Great write-up mate , I enjoy reading about lamping forays as I've not got much experience of this aspect of the sport. And There's been Mixy on my permissions this season and the numbers of rabbits I've actually seen, let alone been able shoot this year has been very low in number. and they were mostly mixy-infected. This is indeed the power of mixy as you put it. Sadly for us, it's both such a bloody cruel but a very effective rabbit killer en masse. Oh well, maybe next year will give us chance of greater sport. Cheer mate Simon

Well, I hope I haven't given you duff gen Andy, but, I'm sure I've seen .20cal. H&N FTT listed along with their other pellet types. A Google search or a look over a large dealers lists like Uttings will confirm that one way or another mate? Now not sure.. Simon

Blimey Andy what a difference a year makes! I paid just under twenty quid for 2X tins of .177/4.51mm AA Fields and £11 for a tin of .22/5.51mm AA Fields around a couple of months ago - early september-ish. That was from Guns International, Barnsley and Dead On Target at South Kirby if I remember correctly. Silly money really but, what do you do when your TX200s or whatever Air Arms rifle you have loves them? ATB Simon
-
Hi Andy mate. Have you ever tried H&N Field and Target Trophy in .20? I shoot them in .22 for the FAC HW80s. They are a domed pellet but deform on impact and retain a massive amount of shock without over-penetration. Could be just what you are looking for (?) . I was over at Guns International today getting Karl to fit a new cocking link shoe and pivot to one of my 80s, and the place is beginning to look really bare with Karl's retirement and finish at the end of the month. Offer him a deal on a bulk ammo buy and you could get a bargain. Best regards mate Simon
-
My HC is .177 and it's blisteringly accurate. I can usually hit a raggy, very small-hole group at 50 metres and I'm no champion mastershot. I paid over £400 each for my TX200 MkIII pair but, they were brand new, true left-handed guns with Turkish Walnut stocks to die for. Sounds like you and r-o-b-p have found a couple of great bargains. You are gonna love the experience lads.
-
First honest thing you've said so far you bloody gash-arsed pillock.
-
You know. I'm beginning to feel like a bloody prat, trying to give this gash :wankerzo4: a sensible answer in the otherwise decent spirit of this forum. Same from me now-on Colleybollocks / Liarr.airrifle or whatever the frig you call yourself. Ask all you want but, you will not get any further answers or replies from me. Now go find mates, a girlfriend if one can stomach you, and get out more. But not with a gun. I don't want to read of some prat like you causing death, serious injury or damage to wildlife, people or property. Pianoman

Have a read of this guy's posts
-
If the gun's .177 or .22 and has been properly looked after, it's only limiting factor is you the shooter. If you put in the practice and develope the talent you can hit a tuppence at 50 yards out, shot on shot.
-
Snap the seller's hand off mate and you'll not regret it. I have both the TX200 rifle and TX200HC Hunter Carbine. Beautifully smooth and accurate guns. ATB Simon

Hi Mate If you are having problems getting a spring for your current rifle, it might be fair to say you'll have trouble getting other spares for it too. If you need to buy a new spring rifle, go for a decent, second hand Weihrauch HW95K, HW97K -or a new one if funds permit. As I have no idea how old you are are or your build/stature, I cannot make an informed recommendation as to what would be best for you. Are you one of the young lads in the photo? Is this recent, or an old shot from years ago?!
-
With practice and experience you can learn to judge and estimate range distances quite accurately. Something you really should be able to do. At 45 and 50 metre ranges onwards, it starts to get hazy, as perspective starts to merge things closer together. GunTuff make some superbly accurate rangefinders if that's a must-have.

So today is "Will a 3-9X50 do the job?" day! I'm seriously beginning to wonder if this "kid" really is a kid. Not someone a little older? I think this is someone with a mental health issue. Like an identity crisis, who's invented this persona to hide behind and mess people around with. Nothing about this guy runs straight. Not even his fantasies. Leaving aside all the googled images of other people's property he claimed was his... This S400 he now claims to have was, in other posts, stated as already owned, then he's going to buy it for christmas, then his Dad is going to buy

Hi Wurz. Great shooting mate. Speaking with my Chef's hat on; Blackberry cured Pheasant sounds absolutely delish. ATB Simon
