  1. They should do Matt. They are capable of withstanding the thump and thwack of recoiling FAC spring air rifles mate. If I was after a quality scope for a .243, with not a lot of dosh to play with, I'd have a look at what Nikko Stirling have to offer. Nice stuff they have these days. ATB Simon
  2. Aye, I'll miss Guns International and Karl and everyone over there. I got my first HW80 back in the mid 1980s, as well as my current guns and scopes from him; and he was great for servicing and advice. It's been a huge part of my shooting past that shop and it's people. There's plenty of other shops around my area I can get ammo and scopes and bits and bats, but Karl was an old school gunsmith you really could rely on. He taught me a lot of points to watch for when I set about restoring and tuning my HW80K this year. That rifle was one of Karl's trade-ins and he virtually gave me it! It's a
  3. Looks like a drive over there in the morning!
  4. But do not use Google images in your posts....That really would cause a few of us to hit the keyboard a little hard
  5. Alex don't take it to heart lad. There's been an idiot here everyone knew as Collie. He get's warnings for the crap he posts...then he immediately reappears under a new guise/alias. He's just been banned. And, with unfortunate timing, you've appeared. Of course, it could not be anything but an unfortunate, circumstantial coincedence, you appearing here with days of Collie being banned...couldn't it! Simon
  6. I want to add Colliegreyhounds to my vermin list. Every feckin kid that posts here, a feckin Colliegreyhound comes up in the feckin mix. I'm slowly goiung round the bend with Collie-obsessed feckin kids who can't feckin spell, don't know what the frig a gun's PROPERLY called, and START ASKING FECKING QUESTIONS WHERE THE ANSWER IS GOING TO BE "A COLLIE-FECKING-GREYHOUND! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!
  7. Hi Hullhunter. Must say I like the DPM cammo finish of your TX200 Did you do this yourself? And what's the scope you have here? ATB Simon
  8. Hiya Alan/RAMCAM That's great to hear mate, and you got yourself a real bargain result for your Goldstar! I've bought three lovely top spec Hawke scopes myself last week, including an SR12 6-18X44 AO, for under a hundred quid! Just like some decent weather to go stretch their legs on my TXs and HW80s. I'm sad to be losing a great gunsmith in Karl Slater and his shop though. But there's always Henry Krank within easy reach! Glad to have been of service Alan. Cheers Simon
  9. Now-now you fellows, don't get paranoid;- you can't judge every lad of 14 that comes along here as being that young pillock.
  10. He means a (K-R-A-L) KRAL DEMON (is there one called DEVIL too?) A lot like a Gamo. A pile of cheap Colliepoo with a naff trigger. alexcjacko, Good advice mate. If you want to get a bit of vermin shooting, either get serious and get a quality rifle you can learn to humanely and reliably kill rats and rabbits with. Or buy a cheap thing like this and plink tin cans and paper targets in your back garden with it.
  11. I love both my TX200s and HW80s and would recommend them in a heartbeat. But if I was right-handed, it would be an Air Arms Pro Sport in both flavours. Absolutely beautiful rifle and the best for your allowed budget. After that, look at the TX200, Weihrauch 97k/97KT, HW95, Weihrauch HW80, HW90, HW77. All of which are magnificent. Can't recommend a BSA spring rifle, they are built to a budget and the quality is not so great as "adequate". Pianoman
  12. Yeah!! It'll make a man of ya! Seriously though mate, you'll love it's accuracy and you'll soon get used to the heft. All the best with it. Simon
  13. Weihrauch HW80 .22 Std Rifle.

    Weihrauch HW80K .22

    Weihrauch HW95 .22

Air Arms TX200 MkIII .22 Std Rifle.

Air Arms TX200HC MkIII .177 Carbine.

Various scopes by Simmons, Bushnell and Hawke.

  14. Not to be disrespectful but, no you won't. Come on now lads, the TX200 is really not all that heavy. About the same as a military service rifle. 9lbs 9oz or so. It's a beautiful handling sporter. ATB Simon
  15. Spot on advices there RAMCAM As a devout HW80 shooter myself I can vouch for the Nikko stirling and Hawke scopes for your own rifle. Both makes are really well suited to recoiling spring rifles. The two-piece mounts you are using should be fine. I use them exclusively too and without problems. They can adjust and set the scope perfecty to the rifle with more play for ballance, than one-piece mounts. You just need to check they are securely tight on the HW80's scope rails perhaps, after prolonged shooting. The shift in zero will probably be due to changes in atmospheric temperature, from outd
  16. Perhaps it's the times we are in. A lot of fears over jobs and loss of incomes plus the fact that christmas is near and santa's wishlists don't include shooting tackle!
  17. Well, I have two lovely HW80.22 rifles called "Major Konig und Major Torwald" (after two legendary German snipers in WW2) and this pellet has proved itself time and time again with these rifles. I always thoroughly wash them and lube them with WD40. They perform and that does it for me! If you shoot a Weihrauch springer or PCP, chances are this pellet is the one for your gun Simon
  18. Great read Phantom, but, I get very sad for the rabbits stricken with mixy. Stalking and shooting the healthy for the pot are fair sport enough. But to see an animal in lingering suffering, in the slowest, cruellest way of poisoning, is just bloody well not sporting to me. It's a true act of mercy shooting these poor things. When I was a very young lad, going out shooting with my dad, mixy was still virtually unknown in the late 1960s and the fields in summer would teem with 50, 60 or more rabbits every time we'd go out. Dad shot with a .22 bolt action rimfire with open sights and he
  19. I guess I have the exception to the rule here Gentlemen. I certainly know there's a lot of sense written here, with pointed pellets generally having less coefficient ballistics and gyroscopic spin stability; ergo less accuracy. Agreed But the AA Hunters are semi-pointed. They perform very accurately out to 45 metres from my FAC Weihrauch HW80 .22 standard rifle, which I was very pleasantly surprised to find. They make a devastating Mink and Fox killer. And my Air Arms TX200 .22 standard rifle performs very well with them to the usual 25-35 metres zeroed ranges. I cannot knock what
  20. Andy what's your RWS 52 like? What are you asking mate?
  21. Go on the profile of the person. To the left side of the page, you'll see a banner saying. "Remove me as a friend". Just click on it. I find this afternoon that I am a "friend" of this person also. I'd like to have had a proper introduction, and a bit of conversation first would be nice! Simon
  22. Well done for an enjoyable first production Gary and SPA from me mate ATB with future projects Simon

Well put maty! I own both the Standard length rifle and the HCF carbine versions of this rifle and I must admit to being frankly baffled at the level of complaint of how heavy this rifle is supposed to be. Anyone would think this was like hauling a field weapon. It's about the same as a military rifle -about 9lbs 9oz Scoped up. My 14 year old son Josh is a slightly built lad and he's shot and actually killed his first rabbit with my left hander TX200HC .177. And he's a right handed lad shooting it off his right shoulder. I am a big fella and the heft this rifle, I find, is what helps
  24. Hi Wurz. SPA from me for hunting with a lovely Weihrauch 95k, and in the spirit of the late, great JD. It was his writing on air rifle hunting with a Weihrauch HW35E and the HW80 that got me hooked on shooting with this magnificent manufacturer's guns. Great write up and shooting of your own here mate. ATB Simon
  25. Gosh Davy what an amazing looking HW100 and scope! Was this a special Hydro dip job you had done? Looks brilliant. Amazing bag of rabbits by the way. I'll never know what it would take for me to part with such a rifle! Cheers mate Mikey, I have an air rifle pellet lodged in my left cheek that's been there for over 40 years . It's a .22 Milbro pellet and it was fired by my idiot of a cousin with a RELUM TORNADO he had. The doc said it would work itself out if it was still in. It hasn't and I can still feel it in my left cheek; 1-inch below my left eye. My Aunt, his mum, got him it from he
