H&N FIELD & TARGET TROPHY I swear by them for my .22 HW77 and HW80. I'd be very surprised to hear if your HW99S didn't group tightly with these. Try RWS SUPERFIELD too.

Great guy to do business with.
pianoman replied to secretagentmole's topic in General Airgun Discussion
What happened to the Weihrauch HW100 Mary was getting? By the way, I have three original Terence Cuneo railway and military paintings moley. All complete with his little mouse hidden away! (Not for sale) I knew him quite well. Simon -
edited for double post (sorry)

Hi Alex. What a charming lady! There is a public nature trail next to part of my permission, with just a small fence between and I've had a few run-ins with women like this myself in recent years. I just smile and say nothing but turn my back, shoulder my rifle and walk away. They hate nothing more than being dismissed and ignored, and, you have given them nothing personal to use against you. They just collapse into their own madness! Just ignore this sort of garbage in silence Alex, it does far more than trying to argue reason with barking mad women. I can well sympathise with how you fe

Hi Rich. Both rifles of your choice are superbly accurate hunters regardless of calibre. .177 and .22 are just as effective as each other. I shoot with a .22 HW77 spring rifle that's just the most beautifully accurate air rifle I've ever shot with. Understanding the trajectory of your pellet from your rifle and knowing how to use your scope to maximise it, is the real key to how effective a shot you will prove to be with your rifle. Whatever it's type of action is. So the ideal calibre is the one you fully understand and feel comfortable with. Try to get a real feel for the rifles

CHAZ N DAVE's T.H.L air gun section meet
pianoman replied to davyt63's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Hi to all attending. Sorry I cannot make it down this weekend, I have a couple of gigs with my band come in and we cannot turn down the money offered! It would have been great to meet up and shoot with you lads. Hopefully, I'll make the next meet. Kindest regards and best wishes to everyone for a great weekend's shooting. Simon/Pianoman -
Hi Andy. I've been off-line a few days and just catching up. Really, everyone here has put you up a decent list of things to stock-up with but, I would say, if you could offer a really top notch air rifle gunsmithing repair and servicing "service", that would be worth it's weight in gold as, a lot of lads would need such services at some point. Not everyone has the know-how or the tools to perform their own repairs AND I can't think of a better way to get word of mouth working for you, than to be a place where the gun comes back good as new or better, and at reasonable cost. What about offeri

As with seapig's response, a wash in Fairy liquid, rinse and hairdryer dry. But I use WD40 on my .22 H&N FTT for my HW77 and HW80. Very light coating. I've been using it with successful results for years. Simon

Wurz flattery will get you anywhere sir! I'd seriously love to push this rifle to it's limits of what it's accuracy at range distance is capable of running out to. I hope our Andy (rossy08 version!) will produce a write-up and let us know what he finds with his tests with it Simon

Terriffic shooting Dad and daughter! Gary lad you've got it right, you've been teaching her too well. It's great to see a father and his daughter shooting together like this. But damm that first group was immaculate. Fair play Gary! Top notch, dad Compliments to you both. Simon!

Mark I think you HW80 is holding out for you to buy her back. The wand chooses the wizzard lad! Simon

Nothing makes a better rest for a spring rifle but your hands and shoulder kobidog. If you zero your spring rifle on a deflated rugby ball the surface tension of the ball's skin means you are still resting it on a non-compliant, artificial surface. Even a soft cushion will only help you so much. You may get a decent group in both instances. But then, watch what happens when you have to switch aiming position to using your hands! The whole harmonics of the rifle is changed and the point of impact will change with it. This is why, as I stated in my post, I use a soft beany bag to rest my

Hi Tom. Welcome to the section. "Hold sensitive" is a simple term that describes a spring rifle that requires a carefully worked-out, correct, gentle or sensitive hold, consistently applied, to get the maximum accuracy performance out of it. Unlike PCPs which are very forgiving due to their recoiless firing character, a spring rifle recoils in two directions simultaneously, with the sharp vibration of the piston slamming forward pushing it's charge of compressing air under tension of the spring, through the narrow transfer port, to slam hard into the skirt of the pellet causing a litt

Hatsan air rifle problem
pianoman replied to dai bando's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
You say the rifle groups better when the silencer is removed. Has the rifle been dropped? Could be the silencer took the impact and the threaded joint has gotten bent out of true and pellets are clipping the silencer's muzzle as they exit through? It happens like that sometimes with accidental drops. You'll know when you fit a new silencer. Simon. -
I like that comment of yours Wurz! A modern day Girandoni rifle! Go on Andy snap it up mate and let's have it over on our shooting range in Field No.1 for a serious wring-out session! ATB Simon

Eee I don't know. Never far from a spat or cross word here these days. Paul. Thank you for your concern sir but, I think everyone here with a permission to shoot over...has permission to shoot over it Simon

I don't own a pcp kobidog, I am a fervant spring rifle disciple. And you can add that a good £380 springer can offer the same level of power and accuracy as a £1,000-plus Daystate PCP...If you know how to shoot it right What about that for a difference? But let's assume you have set your heart on a pricy pre-charged pneumatic. And after the initial high purchase costs of your chosen pcp rifle, then add in the additional charging gear costs, refilling the diving bottle costs, suitable ammo and a decent scope... You still end up with a rifle that's no more accurate than a top quali

11.4 lbs unscoped! And they say the TX200 is heavy!! Sidelever looks like it's built out of a bridge truss. Well...erm..how much are you thinking of, for it then Andy? (Noodle arms need not apply! )

God I wish I had conversations with total strangers like this. Well done Si, seems you've got some amazing sport lined up here. Let's see more pics and write-ups. This old house sounds beautiful. And when I win the lottery.....hahaha Simon Edit to add; I was going to invite you and Laura up for shooting at mine today as it's going to be a lovely one and Andy's coming over at 12, but, seems your full on as it is this weekend. Your welcome to return whenever you want a run out mate

Restoring my r10 stock back to its former glory
pianoman replied to zini's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Now, if I may say, that looks better as a natural walnut stock Si. I'm a traditional man when it comes to rifle stocks. Give me beautiful Turkish or American walnut and deep blueing always. Paint a plain, uninspiring beech or a synthetic; dip them even. But a nicely figured walnut like this is a pleasure to own. And this is one beautiful shooting rifle mate. I loved it at first shot. All the best buddy. Simon -
SOLD! see you then matey, bring your best shooting trousers it's gonna be warm! Simon

Speakin' of which Andy, you coming over tomorrow? It's gonna be a great weekend! Simon

Course you can me old darling! That's a good bag Archie. Top shooting mate! I think Si's post makes a good answer, generally all round. I've just got back home from a lovely afternoon and evening out. Serious practice shooting during the day and a hunt in the evening. The air's like wine on my permission; watched a Buzzard alight for a moment into a tree not thirty yards from my cover . Magnificent bird. Saw a badger trimming his set in the woods at dusk and shot three good rabbits (2 on Davy's spot !) and a couple of Magpies by baiting for them with one of the rabbits. That mak

I watch his stuff on Youtube too, he's very good to watch and his vids are informative. I'd like to try the Matador air rifle he has. If I have it right, US law means there are no limits to how powerful an air rifle can be so, there's a few irrelavancies to our situation as a result. But generally, his shooting is great to watch and study from. Simon
