Hi Books. Oh dear me you seem to have worked youself into a bit of a corner. I'd have thought a Weihrauch HW95 was the perfect solution to the problem you have Books. It's light and superbly accurate and manageable. And it will shred that Gamo-built BSA for breakfast in a capable pair of hands. Weihrauch HW98 is another option. Same gun exactly as the HW95 but with a shrouded bull-barrel and a fully adjustable stock (this could well be the one for you!). Let's be honest. Springers do not weigh a ton. Unless you really do have some form of severe disability in your arms and shoulder

what does that mean pal? I work in a supermarket..not the army lol Only joking Skot. It's an RAF Disciplinary order. For handling a weapon "dangerously" (Like your apparent shooting of your furniture!) you were put on a "252". Or a "Fizzer". That's a disciplinery charge written on an RAF Form252. Usually the punishment was "Jankers". Basically fatigues, spud bashing, cleaning the bogs, sweeping the guardroom out and kit inspection.

Thank You Mawders Sir. Simon

I didn't say anything about sitting on my arse and not do anything Tony. I've sat on my arse, instead.... and writen to both Cameron at No.10 my MP Yvette Cooper this morning. I want her to raise this in the house and ask why the RM are threatening to damage an industry worth well over a billion quid a year to the treasury. Have you taken a closer look at the people who govern you? That incompetent liar Cameron and his feckless Eton school Fag Clegg don't give a toss for shooting or those of us that enjoy it. It's the money it makes is all they'd care about. So that's where you

Seconded Tony But it's a bit rough to read of some worthless rat preying on a keen youngster's trust and enthusiasm with way over-priced piles of tat; and that is low and disgusting to me. Don't you worry JSB lad, anything you are not certain of, or want to know more about something, you just come here and ask us first before you act. I promise you mate, we'll only tell you how it honestly is and what you can and cannot honestly do.. Seems you've got off to a good start getting a permission so young and no mention of the rifle you have use of already, to go hunt with. You do

Mapping Pellet Trajectory
pianoman replied to milegajo's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Gentlemen. If I may add to this interesting thread... If you do not have frequent access to a computer Or Chairgun seems a bit baffling. Don't despair. This is my method of Trajectory Mapping; I've used it for more years than I know of and it never fails me. In a nutshell. The whole point of Trajectory Mapping is to clearly establish in your mind, exactly where your pellet is actually flying-to and hitting, when shot down range, at varying and accurately paralaxed target range distances in your scope. That's all there really is to it. So, beginning with an accurate read-out on -
Y'know Skot, I nearly spat coffee all over my computer when I saw you apparently open fire on your bedroom cabinet... You didn't Dry-Fire your rifle though...did you?...Laddie? That's a 252 charge and a lifetime on Jankers!

I agree with Mawders. It's Britain all over. Another measure of panic-management; of hiding inefficiency and failure to deliver their contractual agreement to provide service for payment, without actually doing anything for the good of one and all, or even themselves. What possible good will this latest idea do? Reduce the risk of violent crime? Improve Health And Safety in the postal workplace? No. It will simply serve the Royal Mail with its Government-imposed efficiency targets it is not currently meeting. They are so buggered up with backlogs and inefficiencies, thanks to empl

springer. 59 yards grouping..
pianoman replied to Skot Ruthless Teale's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Thanks Davy. Appreciate it buddy. That was quite a day shooting some mental distance targets like -metre pellet tin lids, 60-metre spent shotgun cartridges on sticks and bottle tops that Si didn't film. He was going full-on with his R10 and we kept the pace with "Those unbearably heavy spring rifles that are not as accurate as a PCP" (Wanna bet?) When we started knocking down cartridges end-on and ring-pulls off tins, he came up with shooting a 50-metre distant penny off a rock the size of a rabbit's head as a zeroing measure for the evening's rabbit hunt and got the camera out. -
Aw Davy, I'm so sorry dear friend. Work has intervened this time. I've put a post on the Meet Thread. I'm sorry fella, I really wanted to meet up with you and Chaz, Wurz and and Si as dear friends and talk round the fire with everyone over good beer. That's where I want to be. Regards my bonnie lad. Simon Edt to add. I knew this was probably going to happen but, I was hoping the dates in October would not clash.

T.H.L Air gun section meet,5,6,7,October 2012
pianoman replied to davyt63's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Awww ALAS :censored: I've just had confirmation that I am required to be drinking good Champaign and eating delicious food while meeting and greeting totally unfamilliar. but very wealthy, people at an arts/RAF function on the Saturday and Sunday of the meet. It's my work and there's no getting away. Seriously pissed off as I really want to come and meet up with everyone and get serious in the HFT Recoiling Spring gun and .22 class. My trophy's getting lonely! Ah well, I can't get out of this one so, everyone, enjoy it as I know you will and please support the organizers with g -
springer. 59 yards grouping..
pianoman replied to Skot Ruthless Teale's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Not bad at all Skot but I reckon you could tighten this raggy bunch up without too much effort. Have you tried H&N Field Target Trophy? They are brilliant in a Weihrauch barrel. There's a vid that Si/zini did on my permission a couple of years back called "Precision Air Rifle Shooting" . It's on his Youtube channel. It shows Si, along with Andy FR1968 and myself each shooting a one penny piece off a rock at exactly 50 metres range, in turn. Me, followed by Andy and Si. My rifle was my beloved .22 HW77 and my pellet is H&N FTT washed and lubed with WD40. Andy was shooting his -
Well shot Stealthy. Always great to read what a fellow HW77 shooter gets from his rifle. Scope looks very good for your rifle here. Not too overly big and heavy. Any pics of it mounted on your rifle? Top shooting mate. Regards and compliments. Simon

Nicely shot master Daz. Your Garden birds will be happy for these two villains out of the way. Must say I'm gagging for a long warm day out and a proper hide down for rabbit and woodies in the newly-shorn corn and barley fields on my permission. This bloody weather. Hot and dry when I'm at work, honking down when I've got free time. Stock looks great too mate. Your rifle looks really fine and nicely set-up for shooting well with. My compliments Daz. Simon

Don't put a big hefty scope on her Skot, she won't thank you for it. A nice, compact 4-12x40 or so, is perfect for keeping the weight of an HW95 light and ballanced. If I was buying one, I'd get a really nice, quality 3-9x40. I zero and shoot on 8x mag with my HW77 and HW80 .22s anyway. But that's personal preferences. Hope the new baby grows up well for you mate. Regards. Simon

John I promise you dear man. As soon as I get a camera, figure how to work it and then figure how to load pictures on this new computer that I'm only still figuring out how to work....I'll post pictures up like no tomorrow. You know I'm a total bloody loss at this modern technology stuff! Have a nice day honey. Simon Edit to add.. That Tyrolean in a dark walnut would look beautiful on an HW80 wouldn't it...?!

Looking in on the Custom Stock website. They are only about half an hour from me! CS500 Sporter... Nicely proportioned, practical stock. Would make a good stock for a Prosport or Weihrauch HW80 or HW95. And under £200 brand new! Or CS600 Tyrolean. Classical, beautiful stocks those. And very reasonably priced for a left handed one in Delux walnut. Came from Swiss and Austrian German craftsmen prior to the outbreak of the first world war, for the Aristocratic "White Hunters" and big Game shooters heading for Africa. I've always wanted one on a fine rifle and this just might be "i

Thank you for saying so Deri. I've learned a thing or two from shooting spring rifles solidly for 40-odd years. And I've learned even more from the lads on this forum. It's a highly enjoyable interchange of knowledge from a vast pool of skills, freely and cheerfully shared. It's a great group of fellows this, to talk to, shoot alongside and learn from. I love the spring air rifle. Everything there is in precision rifle shooting as an art, is right in there, within its own easy-to-grasp microcosm of calibres, balistics, recoil energy management , ammo and optics. So, you have my e

That's brilliant Benjamin. A superb rifle the TX200. I own both versions and I'd love to know how Tony Wall has improved on an already beautifully smooth and refined firing characteristic. It helps being a great shot though, eh! Tell you what Craig, I'm thinking of an HW80 project I'd like Tony Wall to tune for me. When I come down I'll PM you in advance. It would be great to meet you over a civlising cup of tea and talk shooting. Regards. Simon

Hi Craig. Could he do that? Any idea what a Prosport action would cost from new? Otherwise a minter 2nd user Prosport might be the way and sell the stock to offset the Custom Stock item. I'm starting to get a good fuzzy feeling inside about this. I can see it done and finished and it will be brilliant. Thanks mate. Simon

Aww John my dear fellow thank you.. I've got me dad to thank for my shooting skills. He was a really first class shot with an air rifle (he had a 1930s BSA springer which he was shooting with into the 1970s!)) And he could hit anything miles away with the bolt-action .22 rimfire he used to have. He was a very proficient and effective Coldstream Guards sniper during WW2 using an Enfield No4 SMLE and a 34S scope... I shot with exactly the same rifle and scope during the early years of my own time in the RAF. Beautiful rifle and scope set-up. Absolutely pitch-perfect. That's a good idea

That's it really John. It all comes down to how well your rifle, pellet and scope all works together in your hands. The Weihrauch HW77 just flows into my shoulder as though it was custom made for my measurements and that is a huge advantage to begin with. And Andy (FR1968) should take the credit for tuning it to such a refined shooting manner. I have an awesome air rifle to go out shooting with. You get on just as well with your Prosport so, we both come out on top! You are a truly fine marksman mate, in a company of some of the finest men and shooters I've ever met in my lifetime of

Can't be bothered in other words Mawders. I once actually tried to get an answer out of Air Arms as to why this was the case with the Prosport. All I got was a whingeing excuse about " We ran a market study; No one wants it in left hand versions!" Quote! "There's not enough left hand custom to make a profitable market, too much cost involved turning everything around, blah blah bullshit blah! 1 person in three are left handed. So I do not buy the lie that there are not enough left handed shooters to form a profitable market. Or no other maker would offer left hand versions of thei

Skot, I'll pick you up from Ponte bus station, no problem mate. Late summer/Autumn time might be best. I'm busy as hell with work for now and my shooting time is preciously little at the moment. The offer stands to both you and Elliott whenever I can arrange it with you both or individually. My compliments Gentlemen. Simon
