it irritates me when they call that coursing. It isn't coursing, it's a simulation of it and a poor one at that.

Alas Afghans are just show dogs.
Lure coursing is popular in Europe.
https://charayasterion.wordpress.com/fci-coursing-and-racing/
They seem to try and make a bit of a run of it, compared to the 100 meter dash we commonly see.
Sadly though, it's still nothing like coursing at all, even with proper hounds running.
In any proper type of hunting the hounds cause the quarry to jink and turn and not visa-versa if that makes sense.

"Mushers Secret" is probably the best paw wax to replace padsanol. https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1TEUA_enIE477IE477&sxsrf=ALeKk00A5Dq-6bzvAKVcoIhb0uxW6KiyeA%3A1602674264250&ei=WN6GX8r2DoiV1fAPvdifyAg&q=mushers+secret&oq=mushers+secret&gs_lcp=CgZwc3ktYWIQDDIECCMQJzICCAAyAggAMgIIADICCAAyAggAMgIIADICCAAyBwgAEBQQhwIyAggAOgcIABCwAxBDOgcIABBHELADOgcIIxDJAxAnOgYIABAWEB5QoKsCWPLCAmCLgwNoAXAAeACAAV-IAfcHkgECMTKYAQCgAQGqAQdnd3Mtd2l6yAEJwAEB&sclient=psy-ab&ved=0ahUKEwjKgtjx-rPsAhWIShUIHT3sB4kQ4dUDCA0

not available could try this.

don't know if any good.
I bought tuf-foot after failing to find padsanol, either the yellow or the white. I honestly don't think the tuf-foot does much at all for tender feet but it does smell nice and will stain your carpet if your dogs live in the house.

With them looking like a cousin to salukis it's not what you'd be expecting of them.
Just goes to show............. something or other.

Just look at the types used in India like the rajapolayam or rampur hound or caravan hound ? All come from northern India and used by these tribes for hundreds if not thousands of yrs .these tribes migrated all over Europe and would have taken hunting dogs with them .
I do see your point but those dogs aren't salukis. I suppose they may be common ancestors with more modern salukis but IMHO salukis didn't really have much influence on the modern lurcher until the mid 1900's.

This prob been done before but when did saluki blooded dogs come to uk ?
I'm 64 years old and when I was a schoolboy I found a book about this in Newcastle Central Library. "The Saluki in art History and Sport", by Hope and David Waters, so a long time ago. Possibly 40's, 50's ? Maybe longer.

Expensive but of kit to have taken off you, police will search for them now every time they pull dog lads because as usual the look at me types couldn’t keep their mouths shut.
I'll have to pop over to the criminal assets bureau auction in Lincolnshire this year LOL.

As we have none in our parts i got not idea , hope there not like hares you can live on them but they taste like shite
Hares and deer are the two nicest tasting meats though some birds are good too. Almost any game is better than farmed meat IMHO. Broiler chicken and the like have had the flavour bred out over the years.

I'm not that bad lol.my lad kept telling me a few seasons ago he can see an eye but I couldn't see nothing he would hold the beam on it and I still couldn't see nothing.so it was time for glasses.and while they are on its like everything is in HD.but they really hurt on top of my ears.ive stretched the frames but still very uncomfortable.
I was only joking about the cars but know exactly what you mean about the eyesight issue.I still do fine with the blitz but do struggle a small bit with my LED torch. It's pretty bright but somehow just doesn't show things up so well. Shame really as it fits in a pocket like the blitz never would.

That's my case my eyes have gone down hill fast the last few years.when the dog is nearly there I have to increase the dimmer or I can't see feck all
Do you find these days, that at the end of a night you sideswipe several parked cars on the way home too? (Or maybe that's just the end of night stiffener kicking in).

I went out Sunday night even though it was less than perfect conditions and gave the filter a go but like you two have said it ended up more hassle than it was worth so it went back in the bag after about half an hour
I've seen lamps with the filter hinged to the front and I reckon if a filter's needed that'd be the way to go.

I miss bill
Me too. Most of the time I could get a rough idea what he was on about and he did some interesting threads. All the stuff about meeting up with people for a fight because they didn't agree with his opinion, well that was just silly but he certainly helped keep the forum lively.

Get it sorted. I've had a dog lose the permanent tooth in this situation.

Looks a belter that! A whippet would never pull that in.

I bet I can get a better one blacky. Mine was out working all summer, at least once a month. Must have got at least 6 rabbits (singlehanded too).

Both have plus and minus points because of sex. When it comes down to it if it hunts and I enjoy my days out with it, it's a goodun.
The youngster I'm bringing on now can be a bit touchy with both other dogs and other bitches but it's a question of management.
