  1. the worst thing if find about the beach ferreting is the amount of holes you have to cover. every two to four feet you have to net up. poor dogs got whip lash trying to watch them all lol. but its a nice clean ground to work with no snags or hang ups. atb j
  2. dont get that type of sand around here. after the first two feet of beach sand its not to bad, in places. unless its been dug before. we either have beach sand or peat. the peat is very easy to dig. very compact. no ditches or hedge rows here. atb j
  3. Running sand or hard ground micky. Atb j
  4. Any of lad ferret on the beach dunes Was chatting to a mate this morning and he said that on one spot he thinks that the spot where the ferret lay up was 20 feet plus deep. He dug two 3 footers which wasn't so bad. What was the worst dig any of ye had to do for your ferret. Mine was around 5 foot in running beach sand. Don't fancy doing that again lol. Atb j
  5. Great write up and pics. Nothing better than a day out with the ferrets and good mates. atb j
  6. An elderly woman not far from me was killed last year by two bull mastiffs. Her son owned these dogs and they knew this woman well. She called to the house to visit, no one was home and they attacked her. Her grandkids found her with the dogs still with the body. A neighbor had to be called to shoot them so paramedics could enter the yard. Its all right getting these big dogs if you know what your doing with them and can handle the properly. If not leave them alone. That family will never be the same again. They have since left the area. And the rest of the family is taking
  7. Them tusk's must be 6 inch's. And razor sharp. Atb j
  8. I'd say the life expectancy of dogs working these is short enough from what iv seen on videos. One wrong move and its good night. Atb j
  9. You'd want some serious dogs to tackle them. A neighbor has a couple of the them he keeps for the table. Real touchy things. Always watching you. Atb j
  10. Did you find out anything about them rabid. Looks very interesting. Atb j

  15. You'd clean up there with a string of long nets set up along the sides. Atb j
  16. Are they yours ginger beard. Fine looking animal's. They look like they can shift over rough ground, heather and hill. Atb j
  17. Very interesting. Its a wonder they got some sort of dog to work for them. Atb j
  18. Thing is here where I live sirblessed is there is no farming on a large scale what so ever. The biggest farm would be 10 to 15 head of cattle max. This place is very rual and wild. Unlike where big farms are under attack from rabbits for grazing or arable growing, its understandable why these strains of diseases are used to control the populations. I cannot see anyone releasing infected rabbit's here. That why I can't figure out the sudden drop in numbers. Atb j
  19. Hopefully that will be the case here sirblessed Like many others would hate to see them fully wiped out and never to return. Atb j
  20. People will have to if they want them to return in good numbers. How many who just hunt rabbits and nothing else will have to give up the game if they don't return. Some have many many years put into their sport and pest control. A sad ending. Atb j
  21. Lovely looking dog Aussie whip. Looks like a large whippet. Was the mother a whippet or the other way round. Atb j
  22. Looks like the dog is just gently pushing the rabbit along in the first pic lol. The last one is a great shot also. Atb j
