  1. The last full day and weve made San Diego, stayed in Laguna Beach last night, had a good night watching a decent pub band, made a couple more American friends over a few beers! Lol This was really good today, the museum on USS Midway, in San Diego hatbour..very interesting. Last motel before we leave tomorrow, right on the beach, proper California, huge boardwalk with roller bladers, skater boarders, bikes, etc all out in the sun...what a place to people watch!
  2. I watched that on you tube earlier, how embarrassing lol
  3. The sharks will get there last chance today
  4. You should really be in California mate 28 degrees today!
  5. Sounds amazing! I think that's our next trip, probably start in Montana, then accords to West Coast Oregon and drive the 1 down to California... need to get home and graft a bit first lol
  6. To be honest the drive from Santa Cruz to here has been beautiful, Big Sur area particularly, that stretch of Highway 1 reminds me of the Cornish North Coast, very dramatic cliffs into the Sea, but the mountains and the Redwood forests behind give it an extra special back drop that can't be compared...in awe of the place mate
  7. Yeah that's our general plan, huge thr coast to San Diego, so will definitely check out Corona and Emerald Bay, thank you. Have you been to Solvang? An old Danish town in the Ynez valley, we stayed there last night after a short time in Los Olivios, that's an interesting place, loads of tap houses for the local vineyards... we really liked Solvang as well, quirky place, a little touristy but had a nice vibe...trying to avoid LA, been told plenty not to bother, so we wont lol
  8. Spotting Whales on Santa Barbara beach and thos racket is going on behind me

  11. Thavk you mate, it has been unreal, seriously different to anything .. quick piss around in a city for a day or 2, then back into unimaginable wildness/beauty.. already planning the next trip.. lol Got a message earlier to say hes got the tickets, the chap who's got them is my wife's best friends Dad, hes the most knowledgeable man on music I know, cool as f**k to be honest, in his early 70s and looks cool, acts cool... f**k he annoys me! Lol watched a few gigs with him over the years, very understated but an Oracle on music, seen them all in the day abd still is now..someone I listen too
  12. Zoo! No need, today has top trumped any nature so far, we were supposed to do 3 hours to Ynez Valley, but we traveled about 40 miles as we spotted whales whilst sat at a red light for road works.. I was sure I saw a spout of water out to sea, I rarely watch the road anyway, heads on a swivel lol... said to the wife to look in the same direction and we both shouted when we saw a big jet of water and a back roll.. we spent the next 2 hours "lay-by hopping" and watching. The grey whales are migrating at the minute so that's what I think they were, could be humpback, but probably greys...the photo
  13. Around Goshawk size mate, maybe a touch bigger..was being harassed ny a couple of crows, lovely looking bird.
  14. I wont be seeing you then! Lol
  15. @WILF Remember you saying Neil Young was one of your favourite gigs, he's playing the Eden project this summer, a mate messaged me last wwwk asking if wanted tickets, hopefully hes been able to ger us some.
  16. Might see you there mate, Eden project is a great venue...wrong county though, Devon is God's Country lol...only one way with a scone...the cream is the butter, it goes in first..
  17. Not sure we need to go to the zoo, seeing enough wildlife daily! Lol About to go up into Big Sur state park for an early morning walk...then down to Los Alamos in the Yves Valkey, see if this Californian wine is any good lol
  18. Great wildlife spotting today, Including a sea otter we watched catching crabs and eating them, could hear them crunching and sea lions on the pier at Santa Cruz. Beautiful scenery and sunset
  19. In the woods in a cabin, shit WI-Fi so keeps repeating posts
  20. Ive been saying similar most days, that drive from East Texas to California is massive over the most harsh terrain imaginable...the thought of doing that in wagons and horses, is crazy...would've been amazing too lol.. We wont get to Napa Valley, weve headed South out of Santa Cruz, only done 75 miles to get to Big Sur... another great day and nice to reduce the driving... oh and we changed our flights from Friday to Monday, so will get a weekend in San Diego... not told the kids yet lol
  21. Couple of videos of our off road track. The forest is still severely damaged from huge fires in 2016! https://youtube.com/shorts/6k-0W2-oQ1Y?si=Q03g8WU2kLZ5DuSl
  22. Thank you mate, we'll definitely br passing LA, so may well stop for that lol.. Had thr best food the last few days, dim sums in Vegas (Hakkasan in MGM Grand) and an indian tonight in Santa Cruz... oh and those sandwiches in the diner today.. proper tasty food and not too much salt!! Lol
