  1. Had one for a long time, strip it and put new piston and seal kit in, leave spring alone as very very good, pack with the correct amount of grease and job done, forgot to mention, get it over a chronograph as they have an unnerving tendency to go over 12ftlbs with age and no modifications, meaning when you come to sell it or trade it in at gun shop you can get in a spot of bother, or worse still if you get pulled by police you would then be on a very narrow street to county court.
  2. People like me heheheeh, I remember Andy, guess he is exploring the other parts of life away from hunting forums and websites. 1st time ive been on here for a good year, funny to see the amount of posts some members have made in that time!!!!! Hello Fry not got any air rifle at moment gone to the firearms side of the moon hehe, but keeping eyes peeled for a special spring rifle
  3. JD, Im a professional mountaineer full time can give you loads of free advice about places to wild camp with great views, fresh water etc etc etc, can even take you both out and coach you on navigation, camp craft, climbing, mountaineering etc etc, have stores with tents, rucksacks sleeping bags blah blah blah. All England National Parks have no wild camping by law, CROW Act, however there are areas that are nice and remote that wild camping is tolerated if you keep the site clean and only stay one night. Scotland has the 'Right to Roam' law which means anywhere within the open access areas
  4. Have one for sale on here and on guntrader, stock is not a problem on the one I have, shoots good with or without bipod or mod. Can email you plenty of pics to prove this, very accurate rifles, was out yesterday with it in 18mph winds, took a woody at 248m after dialing in, no dramas and that was off a harris bipod with a Vulcan defense moderator screwd to the end of the barrel. Has no magazine problems, shoots great with remmy acutip, winchester silver tip and privi all from 50 to 60gr. Only selling as have gone down custom rifle build for tactical competitions. Regarding the accuracy o
  5. Each particular bullet head manufacturer has load book for their product. A comparitor is only any use if you have a gauge for measuring the seating depth in your rifle chamber, ie the point at which a particular bullet head touches the lands of your chamber. This will then be classed as the maximum OAL that your rifle will accept from the distance from the bolt face to the bullet head touching the lands. You then decide whether to load your rounds at the maximum OAL or as most people do, load them 20 thousands of an inch shorter as a starting point for building more accurate rounds. Som
  6. Due to having a rifle built, I'm selling my Steyr Pro Hunter Mountain in .223 Remington. Rifle is as standard, factory threaded 1/2 unf . Lovely barley twist barrel. Sling flush cups(included) have been changed to Steyr QD studs. 1in 9 twist 20" barrel Comes with 2 piece warne picatiny bases Round count is 450 Gun is in excellent condition with original hard case, manuals and factory test target. I bought this gun 13 months ago and it does what its supposed to, shoots 1/2" with 50gr and 60gr hand loads - have the load data to pass on if you want. Shoots less than an inch with Remington acut
  7. My tuppence is ammo and putting your lighTweight gun in a vice to check its accuracy instead of practicing good marksmanship technique. 200yds is not that far for a 223, and you should easily get 1.5"- 2" group from a T3 Light, its a stalker not a heavy barrel long range varminter. Also if you have an extended zero session at 100 and zero once your barrel has warmed up you may well have zerod to a POI after the barrel has 'walked its way in' so when you then take a cold bore shot at 200 you would be on your way to a spanking from the start. Go and re-zero with one shot and not i
  8. Jonno, http://www.hk22rimfire.com/ Cheaper than Sig and better made, tried one and would buy oif it was my cup of tea, S&W is nowhere near as good, build wise, very plastic. H&K all the way.
  9. I enjoyed that, good stuff both, been off the site for months and nice to see this section just gets better and better. Had a look at the 4is the other day and have to say it does look very very nice Keep it up Zini
  10. Just ditch it as others have said, from your pics it looks stuffed, get a SAK for your air rifle , I have one on my 455 thumbhole varmint, never bother cleaning it, just shoot sub moa all day long. Great calibre and rifle. Your groups will settle down/shrink if you put some range time in and use good technique for every shot. Have fun. High Teg' sorry I missed you last time round, let me know when your down my way agin and we should catch up.
  11. Dicehorn, thanks for that, I can honestly say its not something I have looked in to yet, Its all a bit new to me as well. On a different note (sorry to Lewdan for the slight hijack, although it may be worth bearing in mind) A friend asked me to get some cheap privi ammo to play with his Bushmaster, all I could get at the time was a box of 69grHP Match, I filled a mag full in my pro hunter and did a rapid fire group - well lets just say my barrel liked them - alot! and at a cheap as chips cost I did wonder the worth in reloading!!! they clover-leafed at 3/4" at 96m and I was just aim and shoot
  12. Come on lads, sharing is caring etc etc, however for a starting point follow the data in the books, even those with quickload etc still double cross reference. From my Speer manual edition 14: They only list the following: 50gr Spitz SP - N133 start 22.0 (2899) max load 24.0 (3237)COAL 2.185 50gr TNT HP start and finish loads as above COAL 2.235 All of the following have the same start and finish max load: 55gr TNT HP COAL 2.235 55gr FMJBT COAL 2.215 55gr Spitz SP COAL 2.175 SP/CANN COAL 2.215 N133 start 21.5 (2775) finish 23.5 (3091) Primers CCI 400
  13. Thats a lot of money. I was completely happy with the very quiet and very well made Twink Mk2 that I had on my S410 and it wasnt anywhere near £120! Just beacuse its been made by Ben Taylor doesnt mean he knows anything about moderators,I use a simple £30 SAK moderator on my rimfire and it works just as well on an air rifle. I would not pay £120 for an air rifle moderator - no way, never ever, even if I had a load of money - Ben Taylor is trying to screw his customers on this one.
  14. I have a cheap as chips one made by AKAH, it works well out to 600m even in rain, but its fair to poor in heavy mist. I did have a PL10 but needed some cash one day, sad to see it go but cant say I have missed it that much, easy come easy go.
  15. I have a cz455 and also have no problems with any of the ammo for it from all manufacturers and all bullet weights. Have you compared the overall length of the ammunition you have? If you shoot a 10 shot string with 15 seconds between shots, does its string vetically or horizontally?
  16. I have to admit I completely igonred the posters comments about bullet and charge weight and any assumptions about reloading and skipped straight to the point about what distance to zero at, and put my pennies in. This is an internet forum after all and I try to approach all questions subjectively as there is no such thing as a stupid question, to me everyone on here is sound as a pound until they prove themseves to be otherwise, then Im the kind of guy who does not suffer fools gladly and Ill say what I think.
  17. Richmcgin - good shooting .338LM - nirex - old school squaddy?
  18. James, You have taken my comments out of context. I am not calling you a cheat, I am saying that the point of zeroing 1" high at 100yds is a cheat for zeroing around the 200yd mark. This works sometimes but not always and depends on whether your trajectory matches that of the factory ballistics and hence why it is a missguided concept unless your rifle and ammunition match that of the test rifle that the factories used to give their drop data. Dont be touchy, my posted this was not aimed at you (plenty of other posted about zeroing 1" high and they arent jumping on my comments) but I got
  19. Worthy, did I mention you personally? Nope, Were there a few others who posted the same zero procedure as you? Yes. Do I give a shit If you zero your rifle at whatever range? No Did I post my own thoughts like everyone else? Yes Are you suggesting Im a fooking know all who knows best?
  20. We are not talking about extreme long range shooting with small groups, we are talking genuine hunting distances on fox and vermin. I see no point in the missguided conception of zeroing 1" high at 100m or 100yds, this is a 'cheat' for not zeroing at a longer range for the best point blank range (pbr). It will only work if your rifle/ammo combo matches exactly with that of the factory ammo data, and the only way to know whether your combo matches that is to get over a chrono. I put some 55gr remmy accutips over the chrono a few weeks ago, they shot at 2975fps as an average, Remington ball
