  1. Get mine from Agouti and it's a quality item. The website also offers good advice and tips.
  2. Should have said 2 1/8" mesh board........... and not mesh, so with 13 to 15 meshes this would give a depth of between 55 1/4 " and 63 3/4 " ,plus 2 selvedges of 2 1/8"
  3. Do you mean the price range for spun poly? If so have a look at www.agouti-nets.co.uk/ That's where I get mine and it's a competitive price, plus there is lots of other hints and tips there. As for the mesh , I have 2 1/8 inch mesh, and between 13 and 15 meshes high.

  7. Welcome to the forum Marcin. You should find plenty to interest you here.
  8. I think it's you mate. You can't blame people for not knowing who someone that you admire is! That he isn't mentioned by those of us that are aware of him, doesn't mean that his reputation or influence is diminished, only that we chose not to mention him. If he's not known to other members, what do you expect ? Did you post anything about him when he died?
  9. Although you didn't dig down the remaining 5ft,and I don't blame you for that, it always pays to backfill where you have dug, particularly if there is livestock around.

  13. Hi Zak and welcome to the forum. Although you have somewhere to go,like us, you're gonna have to do it the hard way to get more permissions, and burn some shoe leather and tyre rubber . It's difficult and you get plenty of knock backs but just keep trying mate..........you never know.
  14. Had one many years ago and it was always a steady and reliable bit of kit. Just give it regular use and see how it performs. If it does the job, all well and good. If not get it overhauled. Good luck.
  15. Would love a job where I had the opportunity to do that, but Sainsburys would probably get the hump !! Nice shooting mate. Well done.
  16. Welcome back Kanny. I don't think the enjoyment ever really leaves you.

  19. Hi Farmersboy 57. Welcome to a really interesting forum. I've heard people say hang the pheasants till they are green, and others say that it is way too long. Maybe it refers to that.
  20. Generally there are 13 - 15 meshes using a 2 1/8th mesh board. Good luck if you go ahead with it. You'll need a lot of patience and perseverance.
  21. Only ever use my mouth to get 'em to get their heads up and it's something almost anyone can do. Saves having to be concerned about carrying a squeaker around.
  22. A good tip I received for the pole length, is to hold the pole end under your armpit, and cut it where your palm sits. That gives you a manageable working length.
  23. Regarding the length of the net, those 40/60 holes you mention could be spread over an area 25 yards or 60 yards long, so the net, or combination of nets needs to be sufficient to encompass the set you are doing , remembering of course that you require "running kill" in your net. All my nets utilise 100% running kill, which means that a 25 yard rigged net for example , is actually 50 yards long. This slack in the net, along with the "bagging" which is the slack between the headline and bottom line, being what the rabbit gets tangled in. The 30ft net you mention will effectively be only coveri
  24. No. Bridport Nets is a supplier.I normally use hazel as it grows very straight. It needs to be about the thickness of your finger and about 26" long. It's best cut in the winter and left to harden off for a year. You can get garden poles from Homebase or other garden centres, that are metal coated in green plastic that are about the dimensions you need. There is a great book on longnetting that is really informative called LONGNETTING FROM PEG TO PEG, by Martin King. There is a lot more to the art than you might imagine so it is well worth a read!
