Erm..... With the .22 rf calibres, you don't have to specify which. The certificate application purely asks for calibre, so .22 short, .22 long, .22lr and .22wmr are all covered by the ".22" slot. The .17 HM2 is still a .17 calibre, so I don't think there's any need to specify which specific chambering you want. You need a slot on your FAC for each calibre of sound moderator you want. They go on the cert application the same as a rifle does. The FEO should talk you through the application.

Tikka's are good rifles. I'd go for that, in a synthetic stock, and yeah with the mod, but why the varmint barrel? It adds a load to the weight for no appreciable gain!

I would politely suggest that whoever "reliably informed" you was pulling your chain mate. An autopsy on a badger would cost into the £100's, not something that's likely to be in the budget of any government agency. It's possible that they might take a swab to test for TB, but even that's doubtful.

Most PCP's I've used will spit out a double load with little problem. The only problem I've had is when by complete muppetry I've managed to triple load one (and that really takes some doing!) -
I seem to remember that the carbine gives a couple fewer effective shots per charge, something about more are needed to accelerate the pellet to speed in the shorter distance. I could be wrong on that one though so don't quote me.

Aye, that's open. A closed cert has something along the lines of "on land deemed suitable for the relevant calibre by the chief of police of the area that the land is in.

A "closed" certificate will have a condition that says something along the lines of :- The "calibre of rifle stated here, plus moderator and expanding amunition if conditioned for these" shall be used for "whatever you've asked for them to be conditioned for" on ranges and land deemed suitable by the chief officer of police for the area where the land is situated and over which the holder has lawful authority to shoot. How'd you manage to get it open on first issue? Lucky sod! Guess my error was trying to get a cert from TVP!

Aye dog, it's a common mistake people make. Feel free to leave it with the anti-rust in while it's in the cabinet, just make sure you pull it through before you fire it again with a couple of dry patches.

Like the magnet idea, shame lead is non-magnetic. Maybe we could make some special steel pellets for that purpose? Good shooting, I'm going to have to have a go at fixing my video cam on to my scope now, then find some rolands to bowl over!

You're going to need some of this brewing kit we've got down here then aren't you Alan! Have to pick some up when you come down to help us move. Don't forget to bring your rifle too, we'll run her over the chrono and see what she's making! Good work with the bunnies, are the fields too wet to drive on now? If not I'd drag someone along to do the lamp, and have a go at lamping them from the landy! Hopefully we'll make it up there sometime soon, and we can have a go round there with the rimmy, it makes things sooo much easier!

Hunter. Please don't misunderstand me, I think it's brilliant for kids to get out and about, and learn about shooting and wildlife as early as possible. I started shooting when I was 5, with an old .177 air sporter. Get the kid shooting, and teach her all about how to handle guns safely and shoot well. What I was getting at, is that the rifles you've put up there simply aren't suitable for a smaller child to use. The full power springers are just too kicky, and heavy. The S400 is ideal for her, if fired from a tripod, as it has zero recoil. She'll probably outshoot you with it after a cou

Kyle. Do you, or your parents, own the house and land, or rent it? If you own, then you have the right to shoot the air rifle, as said, as long as the pellets don't leave the land. If they rent, then you probably have the right to shoot over it, though it might be worth checking. It would be worth having a chat with the neighbour, maybe invite them round to see your nicely constructed backstop, to show that the risk of pellets crossing the boundary is unlikely. Also be reasonable about when you shoot. An un-moderated air gun like that will make quite a crack and could disturb y

Ahhh, the good old UNFG error! (User Not Very Good). Don't worry mate, we've all done silly stuff like that before, you'll know for next time. Get the bloke to show you how to sort it just in case you manage to do it again! Welcome to the forum! -
I'd say your average six year old would seriously struggle to handle any of those big old beasts you've asked about. Even the lighter weight ones will be too much because of the strong recoil on a full power springer. Getting a full size/full power rifle is likely to end up with her struggling to shoot it straight and ending up getting thoroughly peed off with it and giving up. A smaller, lighter, less kicky rifle will mean she can get good results, and be more likely to stick with it and move on to one of the bigger rifles when she can handle it. Just my opinion, and like I said, your ave

Completly different, the ebay one is trying to copy the one in the link i put up... Haha fair point!

Silent, it's a good job iPhone screens are wipe clean, tea is difficult to read through! Good kill on the decoy! Proves they're realistic I suppose! Haha.

Murphy that's the same as the eBay one I put a link to!

Did you pull the barrel through to remove excess spray before you fired it? Any foreign substance in the barrel can cause wayward shots until it's cleared out!

You should be able to get mods through the post. Try searching for sound moderators not silencers, we're not supposed to use the "s" word! -
eBay item number 280542451498. Might end it early if I get a decent offer on here! All in working order. The stickers on the remote and collar slightly foxed but it's only cosmetic. Works as well as an e collar but without any of the possible cruelty accusations. Bought it for my dog, he's so improved that I don't need it any more!

Aye, good guns, deadly accurate in the right hands! Most modern air guns benefit from a moderator. They are running fairly high velocities and the air escaping can make quite a crack. A decent moderator will make the rifle virtually silent! Looks like bunny for tea! -
what to semi and what hushpower

If he gets standard (i.e. mag cap of 3 or less) pump action, then he can hold as many as his little heart desires, or his security arrangements allow anyway. It's only for FAC arms you need to prove "reasonable cause to hold" for each weapon. For those held on a SGC you can hold as many as you want, as I said, security provision allowing. -
What should my velocity be? (HW80K .22)

Weeelllllll, if you want to talk about the BC, we could get into sectional densities and ogive angles. I'm more used to things running 1200 ft.lb's!
