  1. Like I said, sometimes. If you make the case to the FEO when he visits, you should be ok.
  2. No time limit, but you will need a variation on your certificate giving you the right to acquire a replacement. It's called a 1 for 1 variation and costs nothing, but you need to apply for it ahead of when you want it. The only "time limit" practically is if you don't acquire the rifle before your FAC renewal, as they will argue that if you've not used the right then you don't need the rifle, so will take it off (sometimes)
  3. The mortality rate for myxi is around the 40% mark in the general population. Those that get the disease and survive build up immunity. As rabbit numbers increase, the disease will pass round more readily, and there will be relatively high mortality, but as the cycles continue the level of immunity will increase. If you shoot myxi bunnies then you slow down this process. Whether the numbers shot are sufficient to make a difference is moot. When myxi was first "accidentally" introduced, the death toll was enormous, estimates of up to 99% mortality. Now, 50 years later, that rate is down
  4. Gary, you're a sucker for punishment! Go show him how it's done Shannon!b
  5. I try not to shoot mixy bunnies. The vast majority of them don't die, and it helps to build up the immunity in the general bunny population! I know it looks horrible, but it's not harmful to any other animal, and most of them survive. Course if it's a clearance job, then I'm glad of the easy shots! Imagine the missus' head on each bunny Tony, I bet you miss fewer!
  6. 28g of 7.5's? You were lucky it was close mate! What you doing packing a clay round in the field?
  7. More to the point in this case the item should be "substantially as described". So describing something as good condition and it being covered in rust and falling to pieces isn't legal! Shame you've had to go small claims route, and trading standards are unlikely to close them down for one thing like this, they will just give them a slap. Problem for you is that it's difficult to enforce a small claims judgement, especially against a limited company. If they go out of business then you might not see any of your money, whether you win or not! Of course, if they stay in business and don
  8. Enjoy buddy, get a few for me!
  9. Took your time getting here eh mate? To private message someone, click on their name and then click on "message me" under their pic. You going to the club on Sunday? I've got the screw for my PCP so would be good to drag it out and give it a go.
  10. I don't agree. Most people would never consider having a gun in the house, it seems so natural to us but most people don't understand guns and are frightened of them. What's not made clear here is how they found out about it in the first place. The suggestion that you should take a trapped wild animal to a vet to have it put down is frankly ludicrous! Not withstanding the cost, keeping a wild animal in a cage trap for the trip to the vet, which could be quite a long time, and forcing it to be in close proximity to humans all that time, is more cruel than a fairly quick death by d
  11. Black squirrels are the same species as the greys. They are just a melanistic variant. The variant seems to come with some significant advantages, that allows them to out-compete their grey cousins. They can and do still interbreed succesfully, and produce fertile offspring. As they are the same species, they are covered under the same rules.
  12. Sorry, but that's standard practice for a lot of pest control companies, or used to be. The last thing you want to do is to put yourself at risk of being bitten by handling the little critters, and handling/moving them around causes more stress than drowning. However the law says that it's illegal to stab, beat or drown any wild animal, so it's a no-no. It doesn't affect those legitimately hunting squirrels for pest control purposes. An air rifle pellet, well delivered, is about the most human death you could hope for. Drowning is not a legal method of killing them, shooting with an air r
  13. A variation which increases the number of firearms on the ticket is £26. As a mod is classed as a firearm (loony imho, but them's the rules) I think you'll have to pay the £26, but it's worth asking the FEO!
  14. In theory the mod is just a bit of metal, until it's mounted on the rifle. Probably safer to ask your friendly local RFD to stick it in his cupboard for a week or two while the plod add it to your ticket.
  15. Just got your text Davy, PM incoming. Waddya mean I'm not allowed to use the .243 to shoot roosting pigeons?
  16. I'm intrigued now, which post is this referring to?
  17. Haha I remember you showing me where it was, but my sense of direction is shocking, and it all looked different during the day! The squizzer looked tasty, got my eye on a couple at the farm I work on, when they get in range of the shotty or rimmy!
  18. In this case, pick your offence. Theft, obtaining money by deception, fraud... If he has promised you goods for a certain monetary consideration, you have upheld your end of the bargain, and he has not supplied the goods as promised. Why are people reticent to go to the police? They're there to deal with exactly this sort of thing! You might say that it's only £160, but that's a lot of money to a young lad. Don't take the law into your own hands, or give details to anyone on here who offers to "sort him out". Firstly the chances are they won't actually do anything, and secondly if the
  19. You could have a triple barrel, or you could have a semi auto with three shots. The semi will be lighter, easier to swing and you'll probably shoot more with it! The german "drillings" are very good examples of the triple barrel design, normally two smooth bore shotgun barrels, and one rifled barrel, normally fairly small calibre like .22. Not so popular these days though, not much call for them.
  20. OFF COURSE they are if you want to add another £400 on top of asking price for each rifle. That's what I thought, best to check though so the buyer knows exactly what they're getting. I'm interested in the .243, just waiting for my variation to come through then I'll be in touch.
  21. Everyone knows what an underlever looks like mate. What make and model of gun is it? You'll not get a sale unless you give people a bit more info!
  22. So gutted I couldn't make it. My sat nav took me around the houses, and then my phone battery decided to die, so I didn't get your message until I got home davy. I looked at the map, and I reckon at one point I was about 100 yards away from you! Glad a good time was had, I hope you guys slept ok, with Davy snoring away! I'll definitely make the next meet, even if I have to spend the week before finding the camp site!
  23. Ahhh, those must be the gold plated platinum swivel mounts! The worrying thing is it says that 76 of them have been sold! :S
  24. Have you done the basics? Check that all stock and action screws are properly tightened, that the scope mounts are done up properly, the sound moderator is properly screwed on and in line with the bore, and that nothing is leaking. Then give the barrely a good clean out, maybe with a good cleaning solvent, to make sure there's no lead fowling. Do you have a different scope you can try on it? Sometimes a scope can take a knock, from carrying it around, especially getting in and out of vehicles, that damages the internals and makes it unreliable. If you try a different scope and it improves
  25. Pedant. Think that sums it Nope. See some people think that you just get your firearms licence, and then you can go out and buy whatever guns you like. Thought it was important to point out that you needed it specifically conditioned on your certificate! So ner ner ne ner ner!
