Just to put things in order ginga john most of what you say is correct apart from the statement ive outlined above...Lenny was never anything near schizophrenic and certainly in the time he worked on the Hippodrome and Ronnie Scotts was a total gentleman and the perfect old time club bouncer,no not the trendy pretty boy " doormen " that are popular today Lenny could turn in a split second and it was never pretty when he did,but most times a look and quiet whisper in the ear was good enough...he was in great demand on doors which you dont become by being schizophrenic.
