  1. This is about the latest from westminster that they want to make it compulsory for all dogs to be insured against attacking people, be neutered and microchipped. I think its unneccassery, unworkable and yet another "knee jerk" reaction by the govornment in a transparent attempt to get the public on side prior to an election by appearing tough on so called "status" or "attack" dogs. I also think its a "back door" attack on us people who work our dogs in the countryside.
  2. My beagle x jr is like that. An absolute twat for jumping anything he can see through but anything else is no problem.
  3. lol im finding this much more intresting!!! ive been scouring the internet trying to find the answer to this but i just cant find any evidence!! somthing im going to be looking right into though!! Lol! Yeah it is an interesting subject. Maybe we should give the basc a call in the morning to find out?
  4. I think i will start a thread on wether or not rabbits are classed as game so we can use it to have a discussion on what constitutes overkill! Lol!!
  5. "I advise anyone that has a lurcher if you not got massive bank balance is to insure your dog as you never know when you will need it. and that if you have any doubt about somethin wrong with your dog take it straight to the vets." I think thats good advice for ANYONE with ANY type of dog mate. And i doubt anyone will slag you off, you did the right thing. If youve got the funds and your dogs not well or injured thern the vets is the best option. Without the funds you need the "self help" method or if desperate stitch the vets up by getting it done and THEN explaining you have no money but
  6. Look at it this way, if your dogs can eat 1 rabbit a day each and you have 3 dogs that 3 rabbits a day, 90 a month you can get rid of. Yes they need to be frozen for 3 weeks before feeding them (the rabbits not the dogs! Lol!) so yes you will need a decent sized freezer. My freezer can hold 50 rabbits. The butchers should be able to take 10. If you have 5 butchers on your books thats 50 rabbits, 140 a month total. And your going to eat say 4 a month and give away to friends and family a further 50 a month, 190 a month total. Thats without 2 ferrets eating 1 rabbit a day. Now lets assume your l
  7. For the moment at least shall we stop talking about killing the poor f****r?! Shes just given birth, of course her hormones are all over the place. Especially if its her first litter! 2 options: Option 1) Give her pups back and if she kills um she kills um and then she will get back to normal over the next few weeks, Option 2) Keep her away from the pups and your son and play it by ear. Without her pups she will be just as traumatised as any HUMAN would be regardless of wether she kills um or just has um taken off her by you. Why is she going bonkers? Because she is hormonal and
  8. Both the parents of my pup came from hancock. And there both owned by the type of fella who wont keep let alone breed from a shit dog.
  9. "When do stop lamping?" When the sun comes up! Lol!! Sorry mate, couldnt resist. I dont stop lamping. If the farmer wants the rabbits or foxes controlled i do it.
  10. My pup is border/grey x beardy/grey. Hese only 9 weeks old though so i cant comment on his hunting prowess! Lol! I know both his parents though and theyre brilliant.
  11. I agree, my beagle x is a month overdue so far and he still tackles rats quite happily and is perfectly healthy. And as you say sarahnya the vets DO like to make as much profit as possible! So do we all i spose but i wouldnt consider "false selling" to be best practice. I made a comment along these lines myself this morning in the for sale section under "whippet".
  12. cost a few quid for a opp could turn canceras have the dog fixed ffs Cancerous eh? Yes they COULD but then again so COULD yours and i bet you aint queing up have yours chopped off are you?! The vets and the rescues will tell anyone anything to make a few more quid and or to avoid having to rescue any more than they have to. What if the dog turns out to be a goodun and they want to breed from him? I would snap up this dog if my circumstances were different and he werent so far away. Rock a few more details would be good mate. Age, colour etc. And a pic?
  13. Great stuff mate! Saw your article in the countrymans the other week. Pleased for you!

  15. Dont the f*****g dicks realise its illegal to release a PEST SPECIES ie rabbits at all?! Tree hugging idiots!
  16. Trouble with all these calls is they all make the same noise. A fox that knows the score aint gonna come in for it especially if its been shot at and missed before. We need different noises to call um in. The rabbit squeels been done to death, it still works but theres plenty of foxes just say "f**k that" and bugger off quick, others circle round, catch human scent and bugger off and others stay 300 yards away for 10 mins and then bugger off! A mouse squeek or some other noise can sometimes do the trick in these situations.
  17. when will the first fox cubs be seen?????? Shortly before they get crunched by a bull x! Lol!
  18. Iv got a pro made one somewhere. Its about 6 inches long and made of black plastic with a wire running through it. Its loud as foook and works well, iv brought quite a few red coats in range with it.
  19. When i picked up my lurcher pup the breeder told me the his dam had caught a rabbit only a week before she dropped!
