    Can i just say that although mr brown is well respected as a working whippet breeder he isnt the ONLY working whippet breeder in the world?! I intend to get a working whippet myself in the next few months and i doubt very much if it will be from him. Nothing against m brown, just that hese a long way away from me and there ARE other sources, a lot of which are closer to me and one or two of which i consider friends.

    Then your vet is a dick. What does he think is in in raw bone? and if you are giving then you aren't much better Skallyb if you feel like being helpfull at some point then feel welcome. If you want to slag me off your a mothers c**t and i invite you to do it to my face.

    If you were really THAT desperate to feed your family wouldnt you USE THE DOG to catch some food for them? My dogs are not for sale, period. Iv never been asked to sell um but if i was the answer would be an instant no. I did once, while putting the dogs back in the car after a walk have an irish travelling type fella approach me and offer to fight me for them. Wont go into the results of that one but iv still got the dogs! Lol!

    I agree that the vets DO give a lot advice based on what they can sell, mostly jabs etc. Feeding bones is perfectly ok as long they are NOT cooked. Cooked bones are brittle and therefor prone to splintering, uncooked bones aint! AS healthy as pups fed on mixer/complete only i dont doubt. HEALTHIER i do doubt. There may not be any benifit to using dry as well as (although as i said, the calcium and phosphorus issue was brought to my attention by the vet (albeit not trying to sell me anything)but there certainly aint any draw backs.

    tobacco is one of the oldest tricks in the book which is well known by most good dog men. used it on one of my dogs last time after being recommended it, and true to the word worked well. obveiously you should still worms them every 8-12 weeks but its a good interim. I know my dad gives his racing pigeons a little ball of baccy to kill off parasites.

    Iv thought about a deer/collie/grey before. Will do one day probably. I want a straight whippet next though. Congratulations on the baby!

    Let us know how it goes mate. Dont be alarmed with your beddy/whippets poo afterwards. It will probably be very dry and there will be much less of it too. What breed pup are you getting gaz?

    I let mine help himself to barf in the morning and then they all get a 2 hour walk between 10 am and midday. Their next feed is around 5 pm. For the adults its barf and for the pup its beta puppy. 2 or 3 times a week i give them all the weetabix, kiddies milk and fish mixture. I usually mix the blended veg in with the weetabix etc. Also they get cod liver oil capsules and halibut oil capsules mixed in with it. And 2 t spoons of gravy granules in the milk to improve the taste for um.

    You would do well to get a puppy mix too mate. It contains the calcium and phosphorus etc that a pup needs to grow properly and meat alone doesnt. You only need one big sack, by the time thats gone the pup will be old enough to not need it any more. Beta pup is only about 30 quid for a big sack. Others are cheaper. Not a bad price to pay for knowing its bones are ok during the vulnerable part of its life.

    Im quoting from my "the dog owners vetinary handbook" here: The bitch should be wormed before mating, at or after 45 days pregnant, a day or so after whelping and every two weeks after that untill the puppies are 12 weeks old, with a larvicidal wormer from your vet so that any worm larvea migrating through her body tissues will also be killed. The puppies should be wormed at two weeks of age and thereafter every two weeks untill they are twelve weeks old. Worming should continue at four, five and six months of age. After this ALL dogs should be wormed every three to six months.

    I had problems with mine with the lead at 1st. Got him ok with it in one day with the treat method. I had the lead in my hand visable and called him to me. When he came i gave him a treat then stroked him and put the lead on while stroking him. Once he realised he had a lead round his neck i gave him another treat and carried on stroking him. Make plenty of "good boy" type noises all the time hese ok with it. Then stand up and with a treat offered to him but JUST out of reach walk away and lead him towards the treat. After a couple of yards give him the treat. It wont take long mate.
