  1. HI all, been meaning to get round to learning to knit nets. I know its supposedly easy and only 2 knots.... But is there a piece of text/diagrams/video that a high percentage of people have learnt from and been succesful. I would rather it been in the form of a book, as all the other bits Ive seen have`nt been in depth enough for me. Ta for any replys.
  2. Tell me about it Max, Ive got 30 of the feckers, only the last ten I bought are half jobbed on, seems they are striving for cheaper and nastier ways to put them together. I got 10 pokes from bridport and the difference is well noticable. Been on to Netrigger and hes hopefully gonna do me 30 in the near future.
  3. Nah not seen that mate. If you see any running round wearing purse nets, they were probably mine lol... Lost two like that sunday, due to too short a peg and the ground being loose and stoney.
  4. The Bisley ones are shite. Just bought another 10 which dont look tied on properly. It looks like they just gather the top and bottom row of meshes and half hitch them on to the rings. Poor effort in my opinion. Will have to look netrigger up I think.
  5. Haven't had any on my permission in Romsey/Salisbury, touch wood. Although I had a weird one yesterday, I had one with a weird eye, it looked inflamed and red, but it also had a lump/scar on its ear I put down to battle wounds. Could have been the start of mixy. F'in loads of ticks and fleas about though.
  6. I hope not, would rather work the ferrets on a good feed with out a line than dig on a line, times ain't that hard are they? Would always choose to work on the collar but if I was skint would just put it down free running rather than on a line. You dont use a line all the time, you work gills without the line, then if you get a gill sitting down there, send down a hob with a line on knoted every 5ft and start digging. I know how to use a line my point is theres a hell of a lot of digging useing a line, would rather just work well fed ferrets so they don't lie up, when knotting a line y
  7. Im with the countryside alliance. They were doing half price for the 1st year about this time last year, dunno if they are still doing it though. I think Im covered up to 10 million, for all fieldsports inc angling. I think the mrs gets 10 grand if I should die too, so Im probably worth more dead to her at the moment lol. Down side, I was offered payment for ferreting on my new permission, which is over run with rabbits, but I had to turn it down as it would have invalidated my insurance. Cant win them all.
  8. NIce knives Country Joe.. Was thinking about getting something a bit special, but after noticing Ive lost my 3rd opinel 8 on sunday, I dont think I`ll bother now. I might find it again if I go to where I buried the guts though. Cant fault the Opinels.
  9. Just got the Bulldog, nice to use and not too heavy. £23 from B and Q, if you know someone who works there. £30 if not. Ill still be taking the big round mouth though.
  10. Nice one mate. could of done with a few more bunnies though, lol.
  11. Nice Earth. Not done much on the canals. Always the way ratattack, gotta find them to catch them. Totally agree, it seems modren carp fisherman believe that setting up camp for days and bunging 10's of pounds of boilies will bring fish to them!!! Makes me laugh everytime i see a wheelbarrow full of kit going up the bank They do look at me strangely as i wander past with a couple of rods and a rucksack, not often i blank unlike most of them One guy i spoke to last year had had 2...yes 2 carp not big ones either in 2 years of fishing this area reckon i would sell my kit if i had

  13. Just wondering, have the carp woken up round your way yet? The suns been cracking the flags round here for the last 2 weeks or so and the lakes have well woken up,Ive had a good 20 mid and high doubles off the top and the bottom, from a few lakes, with the biggest being a scabby, dark 20lb4 Oz common. Well glad the suns on its way, where the fishing is concerned any way. Anyone else been doin ok? Tightlines,Rob.
  14. 1st goes on 2ft of sinking rig tube-to protect the carp and to sink and protect your main line, then thread on a 2oZ inline lead, push the tube into the lead tail rubber, then tie on a size 7 or 8 barrel swivel and tie to this a hooklink of around,11 inches,if you start getting bites but not hooking them, decrease the lenth of you rig by about an inch at a time. Google "knotless knot" and "hair rig" they are the most used knots and are a piece of piss to tie. Any more Q`s pm me mate. Tight lines....Dont forget your rod licsense.
  15. Got the burner from aldi, finally found some bundy tube,£15.01 for 2,1 meter lenths(just incase) and 2,6mm to 6mm couplers,£7.50 of that is postage and vat. From B E S. Couldnt get an oil can any where of the shelf,so ebay it is. Anyone know what I need for the business end, whats the thing called that the No. 3 tip screws into? Im up to £29 and I still got to get the oil can, tips and wind deflector.
  16. Nice one,Im gonna go get one in a bit and have a crack, looks ok for the summer. Nice one Broomy. Laughed my bollocks off when it made a noise and the little dog scarpered. Wonder how my patt will react as shes a bit clicky with some noises, like air rifles and catapults...
  17. Ive been sneaking onto a loverly small weedy pond that belonged/belongs to portsmouth football club, and since their demise, have stopped looking after it,its about 2 acres and packed with weed from the bottom to the top. Ive been doing really well on there,I love this place. Went down thursday with a small rake to enlarge the holes in the margins I fish, intending to fish friday. well after a bit of raking,I got the bug and had to nip home for my kit,I couldnt resist doing the night. Got back and set up by 3.30pm,one in the left margin and one in the right. A few hours had passed with nothing mo
  18. My Patt bitch has them on the front legs, but they seem well connected, dont cause problems and improve her grip, unlike the floppy ones on a mate pair of rotti`s that look awful. The jack pup I got a few months back looks like it had them done at birth.
  19. Nothing wrong with Eel,some of us target the specimens. i assume you return them alive and hook free. Not to mention they are getting rarer. The uk record of 11lb odd,has been standing since 1978,thats got to say something. I had one 6lb+,it was a beast and would be bigger now as it was bout 3 years ago.
  20. Big smelly baits, meaty or fishy. They get hammered at Beaver on Cell boilies tho!? 3lb plus rods for small uk waters and 5lb plus for the continental rivers. Depends on the lake and angler I suppose. I`d say a heavy duty hooklink was more important tho. Another few weeks and they should start moving... And Im gonna get me one.
  21. Not everyone kills for fun. I shoot crows, but if my daughter brought one in,Im pretty sure we`d end up nursing it or whatever. Own reasons and all that..... edited to say, nice pics Liam.
  22. Is that what you call a Pub roast up your way? Call it what you want,I know where I`d rather be sat on a sunday, and its not in a church. Dont know why it was posted in the dog section, maybe it wouldnt have got enough veiws in the general section. Either way,its not too dissimilar to the door knockers we get round here, who also get told to save their breathe.
  23. WTF? Church is on sundays mate.
  24. Beaver fisheries has pike, but I dont know what they run to.
