Thanks for all your advice and links,i will be giving it some more thought and possibly do some testing in flyers and ads.I probaly will take this slowly and start off with garden clearnces ,cutting and mowing, general stuff and maintenance, and see how it goes from there. Not expecting too much too soon,as i've said it's the swapping of one routine for another as this is more variable and flexible, more of a lifestyle change for me.

Stubby did you not take advantage of the women serving those cold drinks?I guess that's part of the attraction of doing this kind of job? :thumbs:I think i too would be distracted when laying turf if scantilly clad bored hosewife's are serving me cold drinks,i guess it's better to sow seeds instead, Higgins

Christian71 thanks very much for your advice, although i'm no expert at flower displays i will look into it,i'm more interested in leaving a factory job to do gardening instead,Blan your advice is very helpful,i guess i would be into all aspects of gardening, don't get me wrong but if i don't have experience of a customers specific needs i would be willing to consult another experienced gardener the main objective out of my desire to go self employed as a gardener is doing something i would enjoy instead of factory work and choosing my hours and rate of pay.The future is indeed looking bleak fr
  6. Thanks Sighthound,i'm aware that i need to water frequently, just wondering though on a day like today i've watered it about 3 times already, wasn't expecting it to be this sunny,i suppose i've got to water more often now as thbe soil is drying fast on thbe surface, what frequency and intensity would you reccommend? Just keep the soil damp the ground will be sucking in the water from below and it will be evaporating from above best to water morning and evening when it's cooler. Luckily now it's warm you won't have to wait long until germination. Looking forward to seeing some pics in a

  17. i haven't put anything down to scare birds off yet,i'll see how many are on it in the morning, have some small bamboo sticks ready just in case. Higgins
  18. Well after endless raking(still a few small stones there)i've had enough,so i decided to level it as much i can and sow the seeds.I know it's the wrong time of year, but the climate is not the same as when this advice was given,we have mostly damp summers although we're getting some fine weather these last few weeks, anyway i will keep my eye on it and water as and when needed.I have used two packets of seed, one is Canada Green and another is a Wilkinson's Luxury lawn seed,i just decided to mix both and see what happens.I'll post a pic of the lawn bed tomorrow, and at intervals of a week or so,
  19. I no longer enjoy the killing of quarry, but i still enjoy hunting. Not to same degree of earlier years simply because there is too much negativity attached to it from the media and anti intereference.I enjoyed hunting when all the elements were there, these being a shared hunting experience among people with respect for the quarry, exploring new territory and different types of quarry, sometimes being alone with a good dog, being at one with nature, just everything that surrounds the actual hunt. The thrill of the hunt, the combination of man and animal working well as part of a team,or just admiring
  20. what like these two http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-G0SbwdSO7A LOL,i've never seen that stalking technique before, and the toilet roll was effective,i'll always carry some bog roll on my hunting trips now(was it Andrex?), Higgins

I may not know anything about SOCCER but I know a shit team when I see it play and that's all we need to know.....

    England

i've seen five a side play practice games better than that!I'm not even in to football, but come out of work 3 hours early to watch it,but it was more exciting raking my soil for my new lawn.No doubt there will be some fantastic reasons/excuses why thbey didn't play well, all i can say is England are a shite team, all the players are only interested in fame or their overpaid wages, bollocks to the lot of them, Higgins.
  23. Nothing ooming up here Snap shot,a few of your posts i don't get the pic or video, what's this one? Higgins
  24. Birds of prey could carry a carcase,as reports of them carrying live animals are common. But they are more likely to feed off it where it is.I think Langaroux said there were no dragging trails as the dog would have tracked it.
  25. Looks like possibly some 'do gooder' out walking their pooch has probably put it in a bin liner as 'evidence' of rural crime or to dispose of the remains in a dignified manner, Higgins.
