    onley seen sparrow & odd buzzard why dont they eat all the bird when i have found hawked pigon they been pulled to bits sparrow then mate they brake the neck with there beck but it will only eat it if it fills safe and they will eat the brest or head not all of it but a buzz will but it will not kill it as itis to quick Hes right mate sparrow hawk if its plucking the head off and leaving the rest last season my uncle had a load of pheasant poults killed off by the basterds theres only one way to sort them mate And that's looking after the game birds properly.     had awalk out yestaday and found another partrige that had been hawked thats 2 so far in aweek not had this often whats your thorts may be cold spell both birds had been pluked at the neck and the rest left any idears

    I think you have to look at the kind of ground you intend working.Its a bit of horses for courses. Once a year I go shooting near Oxford with my Springer.My host has a Lab. I would say that his Lab is better working there than my Springer as the cover is not so dense. When my friend comes down here to West Wales to shoot woodcock he admits his Lab cannot compete with my Springer in the thick cover.
