Putting my Lurcher on BARF
skellyb replied to Gaz_1989's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Perhaps you ought to realise what camp Billlinghurst used to be in before cashing in on barf. -
i love how this topic started off about trouble from posting on here and ends up with a quote on gun laws on the lurcher section!!!! that is what happens with shooters on a dog hunting forum ,but all this proves is it is not 100%clear and you can be done ,for lending a gun FFS, It was you 2GOOD, who brought up shooting. The above I have only quoted is to bloody shut you up (which obviously hasn't worked) as you were wrong in what you "quoted" re the law. If you (and the rest of the malamute clan) have a problem with certain people on this forum why not just ignore them or sort it out

Shot guns 6.14 Section 11(5) of the 1968 Act allows an individual, without holding a shot gun certificate, to borrow a shot gun from the occupier of private premises and use it on those premises in the occupier’s presence. The presence of the occupier is normally taken to mean within sight and earshot of the individual borrowing the firearm. The term “occupier†is not defined in the Firearms Acts, nor has a Court clarified its meaning. However, the Firearms Consultative Committee in their 5th Annual report recommended that the provisions of section 27 of the Wildlife and Cou

Try thinking out of the box. Instead of going knockin on doors think where farmers congregate ie sheep and cattle markets. Get yourself to Bakewell and Derby on market day. Ask if you can put a poster up on the notice board and have a word with the auctioneer to mention it. Get in the pubs where the farmers go after market and start some conversations up. ATB

Putting my Lurcher on BARF

The only person who has mentioned nasty bacterial disease is you. Not something I, my family or anyone I know that feeds a raw diet has suffered, athough I do know of dogs killed by mycotoxins from commercial food. Rather a childish point you put forward re vets and books. One, I have never read a book by any vet regarding diet but If I had so what, you keep copying and pasting extracts from what vets have written, so what is the difference. Yes, I have read various things online but I also have the benefit of my own experiences of feeding both commercial and raw foods and the one basic tha -
So what were/are you doing then if it isn't/wasn't stealing (cos thats what poaching is)and no doubt over all this time signing on or "unfit" for work. funny how no owners ever said they had the game stolen at the time it went missing , : And then we wonder what has happened to this green and pleasant land. No doubt you have children following in your chav footsteps. Sad. yes ,but no need to do what i have enjoyed doing ,i made sure of that . I'm sure that they are very proud of you.

Once again you manage to cut and paste something entirely inappropiate. You confuse raw with barf, yet again. Rather than simply answer you prefer to hide behind the smokescreen of pseudo science which in reality is more Disneyland than any raw diet, as it does not and never does test a raw diet. -

Sandymere, I have no need to make up stuff and attribute to you. I think you quite often forget what you have said. Look back over your own posts, I have neither the time or inclination to continually cut and paste. If your memory is going perhaps you ought to look at your own diet. Once again you come up with a so called scientific term, biologicaly appropriate food, which is what? You go on about appropiate and digestible, what could be more appropiate or digestable than a raw diet? -

Sandymere, theres nothing to be ashamed of, why not come out of the closet. You admit that you feed your dogs raw food, does that make you hippy dippy? On the other hand you also give them everything else as well, just to be on the "safe" side. You say that commercial dog food is balanced but what is a balanced diet? The one recommended by the petfood manufacturers? If that is the case how come there are so many different makes (altho' often part of the same small groups of companies), recipes, ingredients. If all that dogs need to eat is contained in one "balanced" commercial food then su -
As i pointed out above, whatever is in the gut is not half a pound of bananas and a pound of carrots and peas. Think about it before jumping to conclusions and dismissing everything as "hippy tut", how on earth is fruit and veg replicating what is in the guts? And fyi lemmings eat mostly plants such as mosses, grasses, herbs, shoots, and lichen. Some might advocate bananas lol. Yes some might, but not me LOL

Think you are being slightly over the top about this but if you want to tell the insurance try this http://www.lrmsliabilityplus.co.uk/form_generalquotation_working-security-dogs.aspx

If they do not ask and as long as they are not connected for instance with a pest control company then there isn't a problem.

As you say, very interesting reading but cannot find much about him after this. I know that he works/worked with the Greyhound Skillnet Training Programme in Ireland. Re tomatoes, make sure they are ripe red tomatoes. The leaves, vines and unripe tomatoes can be poisonous. If you want an email address for him pm me (won't put someones email on public forum)

Forgot to add re Marks And Spencer, they won't cover anything that is caused by, relates to or results from; • your pet’s medical history before the insurance started. • your occupation, your profession or any business.

Marks and Spencer. Mine insured with them and no problems making claims and pretty quick on payouts. They don't insure any dog used for racing or fighting, as a guard or security dog, wolf hybrids, American Bulldogs and any breed of dog registered under the Dangerous Dogs Act but no mention of "working dogs"

Each to their own, but even if they did eat the stomach contents (which is debateable see http://rawfed.com/myths/stomachcontents.html ) then it would be as you say grasses, leaves or shoots not half a pound of bananas and a pound of carrots and peas.

As long as you are giving a good variety of raw meaty bones, fish, organ/offal such as heart and liver, eggs etc then there is no need to worry about vitamin levels. They will be getting all they need and natural rather than the synthesised vitamins which are in most supplements and commercial feeds.
