  1. Good post Mooch lurcher's deffo don't have there place on a driven shoot but niether do many gun dog's ...but by the love god.. i will challenge anyone who say's lurchers are not a all rounder hunting dog..because the plain and simple fact they can not be beaten as a allrounder..
  2. If i had a lurcher that was only good at picking up i would be sadly dissapointed..
  3. I dont normaly read or like long post's but the origional poster's topic floated my boat... ...that's a good bit of refreshing info for new and old in the lurcher game..
  4. A purpose bred gun dog is a master at gun dog work..a lurcher is a dabbler and master of many trade's..
  5. For what it's worth...the only thing i think a purpose bred gun dog of any type has over a lurcher is it's nose..yes they have better noses but purpose bred gun dog's are of little use for anything else other than working to the gun of some sort. On the other hand a lurcher especialy one with a good lump of collie blood in it can do a hell of a lot more and a one with a good coat will take just as much bad weather as any other dog.. You can go shooting/bushing/lamping/ratting/ferreting the list is endless for what you can do with a good lurcher..but i have found purpose bred gun dog's limmit
  6. ..belive it or not they can be evil little shit's..
  7. Bin them and get some Serama Stu..you wont look back..
  8. I can't remember how we done them now.. but i can tell you how to make one out of a coat hanger and some knicker elastic..
  9. Cracking shot's.. ...them moorhen's a mad the way they sit motionless like that with just there head's stuck out..you done well to spot it..
  10. i just use a washing up liquid bottle mate and ad sand to it so they is a little weight in it..then stitch a dried out pelt around it..if you do it like that it wont cost you a penny..
  11. We would of doubled that logan if satan was there yesterday..
  12. If you want a rabbit skin one Marv just knock one up your self..they is no shortage of skin's..
  13. I had a stuffed jay year's ago in the Anting pose..
  14. If she did not bleed you would think she was a robot..she is 1 million MPH all day long regardless of any injuries..
  15. You have done a tidy job of that Mate.. and it look's bigger than i thought it was from the last time i seen it in your old garden..
  16. Aswell as a 300mm lens i also have this one..which is not a bad one when it was working right before Moll nacked it in.. http://www.calumetphoto.co.uk/eng/product/canon_ef_s_17_85mm_f_4_5_6_is_usm_lens/321-170a
  17. Never heard of that before..in any case you dont need to just blast them with roundup or galup and they will be dead in about 3wks..
  18. As Romany said a dipper would be nice where i have been grafting on some big old pond's they is a brook that run's down the side of the pond's that has dipper's on it..it will be a challenge and a half to get a decent picture of one as they never sit still for 2 second's.
  19. Round up will deffinitely kill the top's of but not the root's..but like you say you can dig them out..the only thing with old established nettle patches is it is hard and slow work getting them out..and it will be a ongoing job for a couple of year's picking and stragler's up that are missed because they just keep rooting..
  20. I have seen all sort's used on nettle's and the just keep coming back..the only sure fire way to reduce them is dig them out this time of the year before they start growing back and stinging the hand's of you..
  21. At last it worked.. i was a bit sick lastnight when the link worked via a PM but not in the terrier section..it was a cracking day just a shame that damn migrane kicked in other wise we would of had more.. ..not too worry though they will be there for next time..
