  1. Sure the mounts, or scope/mounts will sort it dude, you should end up with a nice accurate rifle, as the CZ 527s are
  2. Might I ask you a question, genuine question not a trick one, when you first applied, not renewed but applied, did you provide written evidence of permission to shoot on private land, or did you just provide a name and phone number?
  3. I have never been a big fan of Reminton ammo to be honest (not saying they dont work in some rifles) I think he needs to try some Hornady, or Winchester or Norma etc when he has his new mounts, think that will make a big difference
  4. Yes it was me who had the scope, but I dont think you will need it mate, I am sure the new mounts will do the trick, unless they have knackered the scope, but time will tell, try not to get too depressed mate, your rifle will be fine, IF you do need a new scope I would try and buy something decent seconhand, I have a Tasco world class that is sat doing nothing, which you could have for fifty quid or so, and it has lovely clear glass and is in mint condition, that would be better for you than a cheap Hawke etc, but lets see how it goes with the new mounts first, fingers crossed.
  5. Theres bugger all recoil on a .223, nowhere near as much as a spring airgun, but the thing is his mounts are fuc8ed in my opinion, not the scope(could be both of course) but his hmr mounts probably wont fit his .223, and if thet are knackered on the .223 its not going to tell him anything, no get some new mounts and go from there, I think you will find it will be sorted.
  6. Get some new mounts ordered mate, I will put several pints on them being the culprit, they should sit straight, and not need tightening between shots, they are fuc*ed, unless you can clamp the rifle down or get another scope on board, leave it alone now and wait for your mounts, if it was me, I would want to know, so would be getting the scope off the hmr, I will bet it groups, let us know what you do, I think we have found the problem though mate
  7. Ideally mate it needs clamping firmly, but if you can avoid moving it when you cycle the bolt you MIGHT get away with it, its worth a try, right so we know its not the mod now another possible fault eliminated, well done for sticking at it, I know it is fuc*ing frustrating, I think from what you are telling us your mounts are Donald ducked, I do hope so as this is the easy fix, go and give it a go pal and report back
  8. You wont go wrong with them dude, good price too, get yourself a Nikon off him too when you can afford it, trust me.He has got Nikon prostaff 3-9x40 in for £145 or 3-9x50 for £185 get the bdc bullet drop compensator reticule, my mate has S&B 8x56 on his rifle, I have a Nikon on mine, we really do struggle to tell the difference in clarity, guess what he bought for his .223 and .22 rf after seeing mine? Yep Nikon's
  9. Use the fmj it seems to group with them, it is sounding like your mounts are the problem dude, they should not be slack after 6 rounds, take the damn thing off and clamp it, I bet it groups then it obviously does not like the Remingtons, no bother, you can find some it does like when its sorted, if you decide you want a new scope, get a Nikon prostaff 3-9x50, around £160 you simply cannot find better quality for the money, and for a lot more, if truth be told.
  10. Brilliant mate, the lads faces are a picture, looks a nice trout with a good tail on it, the lads holding up, good on you mate.
  11. I agree, if the group does not improve after taking the mod off, then its scope, if its the same with a proven scope, then the mounts are highly suspect, the sure fire way to check if its the rifle, without taking his hmr scope off, is to remove the scope and mounts from the rifle, clamp it securely(with gaffer tape if you have to) into that rest he is using, look down the bore, so its pointing at the board, put a sheet over the board, and shoot a group like that, if it groups then, you know its mounts/scope and not the rifle, I think this is the next step to try, if it groups no better with th
  12. Ok well your crown looks good, so thats a start, always a bit difficult to tell looking at a picture, but it looks good to me, right next, a group without the moderator, so we can eliminate that, if you can get another brand of ammo to try that would be good, but if you cant, no worries, once we have eliminated the moderator(as I suspect we will) we will have no choice but to suspect the scope/mounts, so that will be the next move, by the way when you look up the barrel with a light, does the rifling look crisp, and the throat(chamber end of rifling) look crisp? Yes mate a good rifle smith wou
  13. Forest foam is just another barrel cleaner mate, it is a foam that you spray down the barrel, no I agree, it does not need cleaning that often, leave it now dont clean it until its sorted, you see all your rounds are falling in much the same spot, so I am beginning to think your scope may be ok, but we will come to that later when you have shot a group without the moderator, your point of impact may change, but at this stage it is the group we need to observe, ok step by step then, lets take a look at that crown, then see a group with no mod, and we will move on if they are not at fault
  14. Personally I am still dubious as to the scope being at fault, looking at the groups, it looks like the scope is doing its job as the bullets are all falling in the same spot, its just a crap group (but the scope certainly needs eliminating) I want to see a group shot without the moderator, I also want to see some pictures of the crown, certainly a good soak/scrub with forest foam or similar will do it no harm, as I keep repeating, the answer is out there and he will both kick him self and be mighty chuffed when he sorts it, the thing is not to give up, the CZ 527 is a brilliant rifle, so come
  15. Agreed, the time has come to try new scope and mounts on it, get some mounts ordered, beg steal or borrow a scope, then go and zero it, with some different ammo, Hornady, Winchester etc, when you say the shop fitted the mod for you, have you just left it on, or removed it after shooting? Your rifle is doing exactly what a pal of mines .22-250 was doing, it was the crown, I know you say you have checked it, and I am not trying to make you look silly, but just to be sure can you post some pictures of the crown, from the end of the barrel mate, you need to shoot it without the moderator on as wel
  16. There is absolutely nothing wrong with CZ 527s I had one in .22 hornet, it was a tackdriver, my mate has one in .222 that is also a tackdriver, for the .22 hornet they are the best platform on the market, I would recommend one to anyone, in any of the .22 cf calibres, that mini Mauser action is great.
  17. It will get sorted for him mate, it will be something simple, it usually is, I would never trust anyone else reloads, you never know what they have done, and there is no point trying to zero it with fmj bullets anyway, he wont be shooting foxes with them, or at least I hope not
  18. Yes thats fine the low right bit, but is it grouping, forget where for now, and those mounts ARE CZ mounts, I dont trust them at all when they are a few years old but I may be wrong, let us see the results with factory ammo. Forgot to say shoot a group without the mod on lets see that too.
  19. If I am not much mistaken those Cz mounts you have on it are adjustable for windage, I had some on a 527 .22 hornet, I fuc*ing hated them and never trusted them, looking at that group again, I am tempted to say the scope MIGHT be ok, get some new mounts ordered for it, and try your different ammo in it, and I think you may see a vast improvement, once you have tried that, then go to trying another scope on it, if nothing improves, but I will say it again, I dont think it likes those reloads mate, after all you did not load them so you have no idea of the guys quality control, might just be wor
  20. Cheap mounts are a total waste of money on a cf, looking at the group, it is grouping, but with handloads I would have expected a tighter group to be honest, I am tempted to say it does not like the bullets, it is shooting to the same point of aim, I.E. Low right, I would be tempted to try some different ammo, get it shooting in the centre, and try again, its not the worst group I have ever seen, just not as good as it should be, its only six shots so telling if the zero is wandering is a bit difficult, but from that limited amount it does not seem to be, who worked up the handloads for it ma
  21. http://www.opticswarehouse.co.uk/products.asp?cat=CZ+%2F+Brno+Rifle+Mounts There you go my friend
  22. I am right eye dominant, but shoot left handed, never a problem for me until I get long range left to right crossing birds, all I do is dim/half close my right eye, I would practice and see how it effects you before making any drastic changes.
  23. Just get some Phillips gun barrel cleaner and a pull through mate it is all you will ever need that won't remove copper though mate That is what I thought mate when I was first advised to use it, but I can tell you, if you run some through on a patch, the patch comes out blue (copper) and leaves the bore sparkling clean, my rifle is super accurate after nine years of using this method, so it works for me
  24. Just get some Phillips gun barrel cleaner and a pull through mate it is all you will ever need
  25. CC I don't understand what lead would be in your barrel just as I don't get why Sdan wants to relead his barrel surely you mean copper? I sometimes fire cast bullets, without a copper jacket mate, not very often but like to give it a wipe when I do, but its more carbon than anything. How do you get on with them mate only time I use cast is in my pistols Not bad, I am only loading them at mild velocity at the moment, they seem accurate though, I must admit, I have met guys who use them a lot on deer, and they report good results, but on live quarry I will stick to normal bullets for now.
