  1. Found a half dead one in a fen trap a few years ago, that was emotional until I put the poor bugger out of his misery.. Only assumed it was a poley because it was in a place where they are known to be living. Closest I've been to a wild live one and it wasn't much of a live one to make a judgement of character about! Seen a few at at a distance and dead in the road. My issue was that i don't think you'd have been able to tell from the picture on this thread if it was a poley or not. If the fella says it was a ferret, thats all that matters. That one could pass for a polecat if you jus
  2. every season i catch two -three ferrets that have escaped or have been released to the wild, i had this one this morning in a mk6 fenn ,other than hold the ferret no damage was done to it ,i cannot understand why this trap is recommended for mink when it cannot kill a ferret.
  3. heres the first set ,not many rabbits here this year . . eight traps ,two rabbits, the traps were late going in and there were to few of them but twos better than nowt and there might be a couple more in the morning. Warickshire.
  4. if i was limited to just one trap it would be the BG ,its light, cheap [if bought from USA] and kills anything it touches,i have a setting tool and safety grips so i can set them easily and quickly,i,ve found that the more i use them ,the more uses i find for them ,allso it makes the job easier not having to carry bags of peat around the field,if a BG could be sprung and fired like a Fenn i think you would have a handy piece of kit.
  5. I like to see endless pictures of rabbits caught in traps and snares, because to me,if theres no picture ,then mostly,it did'nt happen .When i see pictures on here i [as others do ]allways look for clues that it might have been staged [quite a few are] i allso think that the majority off people who come on the trapping and snaring section of THL to critisize will never put there own pictures up for examination ,plenty off people will tell you ,your'e doing it wrong ,but theres not many who can show you why its wrong . one of 50 rabbits snared on stubble friday night ,no more pics ,battery
  6. paulus, you rearly are a silly shit stirring twat
  7. e rabbits exiting the holes are possibly killed by the tension bar / + a bite from the jaws on the neck area. a rabbit caught entering the hole will be further over the trap and hit in the chest /stomach area by the tension bar , this has given me five neck /front leg catches ,early days as yet but that seems to be the way its going, another feature of this trap is [the step up ] on the tongue of the trap ,this is about 1/16 of an inch wide by 1/32 inch high this makes fine tuning very easy when advancing years brings on changes to your'e vision, i allways cover my traps with peat ,at prese
  8. just been down the lane and saw a lot of rabbits sat out , i must of ran this one in
  9. this ones just going on to a prepaired bed under a root , if you placed it the other way around your'e hand could possibly go between the jaws to remove the safety catch ,that would result in severed fingers
  10. they were born to late , if the had been developed before mixi they would have taken off big time
  11. safety catch off Bottom left setting robbed.
  12. i have recently been given 15 imbra traps and allso had the chance off buying 5 more + 5 jubys, all the traps were in exellent condition other than a light coating of rust , ihave never used Jubys before so before i dipped them i tried them out ,then as they caught, i cleaned and dipped them. I found them very easy to, set though the springs were very powerfull, the trap was easy to bed down and cover and the final adjustment to the plate was very simple and safe to do , to me its a very humain trap to use because as the rabbits exit the hole the animal must be killed by the tensioning bar fro
  13. other rabbits will chew them off, people say its farm machinery but its not, cats will take the ears off but its usally other rabbits .
  14. matt i am very thick skinned, i only came back on this thread because ,others with no real input would not let it drop if people don't like to see dead foxs, fine i wont put any up, but the people who fire the bullets then run away or try to answer with ridicule, are they not the ones with the thinest of skins and perhaps the most childish of us all .
  15. You only seem keen on your own replies Ian ,i have put a few posts and pictures o f cubs caught in rabbit snares as others have as well ,no one as been bothered by it before but for some reason people who rarely or ever come on to this part of the forum have chosen to comment this time ,now whatever the rights and wrongs of the matter i have been told that i said that i had set the rabbit wires to catch the foxs ... i did not , and thats the only issue i have with this thread.
  16. he did mention the fact he deliberatly set a rabbit snare for foxs your trying to twist your words , once again i will ask ,where did i write or mention {i deliberately set a rabbit wire for foxs} show me , show everybody , PUT UP OR SHUT UP
