  1. as above. a mate of mine is after a cheap pcp. looks and cal npt important. anything considered, as long as it shoots ok.
  2. ive shot loads of rats with the .177. I think im just trying to justify the fact that I fluffed 2 shots on the bounce, because the zero had crept off.
  3. nice video mate. think im one of the lads that mark was on about. I too use a 100 kt in .177. a few weeks ago I arrived at my permission to shoot some rats. I zeroed before putting mt ns50 on the rifle, got sorted and shot the first rat. I didnt take it cleanly and it was a runner. not nerves, but it ran off. I put it down to it being my fault. I shot the next rat and same thing happened, but managed to shoot it again and dispatch it. upon checking my zero I found it had crept slightly. this was why I wasnt finishing the rats cleanly. ive had no problems before or since. it wasnt a question
  4. I agree with mole. the 99s is probably one of the most under rated springers on the market. I had 1 for 7-8 years and it never missed a beat. you could more than likely pick one up with a scope for 200 secondhand.
  5. I know this mate. ive had probs before or since. I checked zero before I started, but it must of crept off zero a little whilst attaching the ns 50. this has put my pellet wide of the brain/kill zone. so I was wondering if the energy transfer of the .22 would of killed it out right in the same situation??.
  6. ive been fine up until now with the .177. just didnt like the 2 runners. didnt seem fair.
  7. 8 months I entered my plummer to rat. like keith says wait til the adult teeth are through. I took him with me before he entered to check my cage traps, but never let him enter. he was marking well before this age. my cage traps are completely covered over to shield from prying eyes but he always told me when we had one in the trap. then one day I let him off his lead to go check the traps. he marked the traps that had caught and I despatched the rats. after rebaiting and setting the traps, I decided to do one last lap of the permission. after seeing all the rats in traps for a few months and
  8. I know the .177 v .22 debate has been done to death in general. but was wondering what peoples favourite cal was in regards to shooting rats??. I used to use .22 for all my hunting, but have changed over to 177 in last 18 months. I found this cal more than ample to do the job on rats as long as a good clean head shot is taken. I had a recent trip out on the rats, I checked zero before dark on my hw 100kt and everything was fine. I put on the ns 50. shot the first rat of the night and it was a runner. I wasnt happy and put it down as my own fault. bit of buck fever. I took the second shot and
  9. nice pal. I had a little look around a pig farm permission last night. ended up with 7.
  10. yes mate. she has got a little .177. its nice and light and she can shoot it too. she had a go with the hw 100 with the nv on. she shot a few with that, sat on a bucket with the big bi-pod. then she missed one and it ran straight at her. it put the wind up her a bit Derek. lol. I got a long ranger at 35 yrds perfect head shot. the farm is still bumping with em pal.
  11. dont worry about starting on a springer. I think most people do. I know I did. I had a 99s. it was an amazing little rifle. it took me ages to save up to get a pcp.
  12. hw 100kt .177 also. It does everything I nedd it to.
  13. I had a hw 99s. it was amazing. had it for 7-8yrs. never missed a beat. it was mustard. if there is 1 rifle I regret getting rid of its this one.
  14. after taking a hundred rats off one of my mates permissions couple of months ago, we decided to go and see if the nubers had build up again. I turned up a little while before my mate, and saw 3 rats while it was still light. I shot 2 of these. then waited for darkness so I could put the nv on. soon as my mate turned up we went round for a mooch. we walked round to the provin bay and there must have been 15 rats sat in the food. I shot 9 of these, before it went quiet. we then had a look at a different area of the farm. we found a new hotspot and shot perhaps 15 or 20 from this place, but we
  15. why do people in affrica walk 17 miles to collect water in a brass pot, then walk 17 miles back without a lid on the pot. half the water will have spilled/evaporated by the time they get back. why not just move their twig house closer to the river. it probably weighs less than the pot of water.
  16. let people know your location pal.
  17. I smoke min of 30 rollies per day. I have smoked for 28 yrs. I gave up for 3 month then went back to it. when I gave up I ended up with a gob full of mouth ulcers. was my mouth getting rid of all the toxins. need to quit again. at the ripe old age of 40 I have taken up boxing and training 4 times a week is killing me. lol.
  18. only ever heard the odd cuckoo here in lancs. last time bout 5 years ago. when I was a kid I used to see fields full of lapwings lifting off the ploughed earth. used to also see loads of culew. still see them now bur not as many. same with the pee wit's. still see them, but not in great numbers. buzzards are on the up. and I also saw a red kite near me. im seeing a few more sparrow hawks than I used to, but fewer kestrels. also fewer barn owls.
  19. barbour northumbria wax jacket for sale. size 38. worn twice. like new. £50.
  20. took my plummer ratting this morning for the first time in a while. I arrived first and decided to have a little look round before my mate turned up, and see if we could get any positive marks from the dog. straight away he started marking a big pile of sleepers, but there was to many to move on my own. so we went for a little mooch. I looked around a few likely spots bit got no joy, then we came to an abandoned 4x4 parked in the field. the dog showed a lot of interest in it. my mate turned up and with his little bitch plummer. so we decided to open the bonnet and have a look. after a prod
