  1. vaseline will do it bud...dog wont lick the stuff so will give it time to heal naturally.
  2. BBB, i think you just got a chip on yer shoulder mucker...........you are constantly spouting negatives about shit this and shit that, have you ever thought that not every one in the hunting world be as commited and serious as yourself...i aint knocking your ablities,i couldnt give a toss to be fair how good you are or aint, but what about the tens of thousands of folk who just like to get out of a saturday/sunday with thier half decent dogs and suck up the fresh air and stand a chance of some rabbit, ratting or digging..........not everyone has the knowledge you do about dogs, many people get
  3. ill be there.....in the zoider tent.with me plummer.
  4. I have to admit,im very much the novice when it comes to anything else other than ratting....i havevt yet done a dig but was keen to try my plummer out on it,after speaking to my mates they have advised against it as now my dog has too big a chest (non spannable) and i have big hands....hes a great ratter, and thats where my heart lies, i love nothing more than having a mooch about and watchin the dogs let rip, digging isnt the be all and end all.....my dog may prove to be an awesome fox dog.....but if he turned out to be shite, the so what,he enjoys tyhe ratting,so do i.....gonna try him out bu
  5. i can vouch for this motor guys.....good solid truck..goes anywhere and very tidy inside n out.id buy it myself if i could but Ben wont accept my payment plan offers of 50 quid per month.
  6. hi, you neednt worry too much about breed of terrier for ratting mate, most will do a grand job as instinct normally serves them well....probably best to chat with a few folk u may know that have had and worked terriers, normally they will know of some pups coming up that will be right for the job, in general most russels, patts, lakies etc will be fine,.i wouldnt buy one just coz its parents are show winners from crufts that that will mean they are just pampered inbred dross......im sure a few guys in your area will post on here and may point you in the right direction.......personally i rate pl
  7. thanks guys, good start....anyone else know much bout this subject?
  8. care to elaborate on quoting my quote.lol???? cheers wolfie.
  9. Does anyone have any info on the snowdonian hunt??,a mate of mine has acquired a terrier (russel x) from there and i know nothing about it,its a very proven dog, hard as fook, just curious about the origins of this dog is all.
  10. i fish the cotswolds too, mainly manorbrook and cokes, maybe see ya up there, not renewing ticket after this season as work means time is limited for me. As for fishermen wanting dogs.....ive always took my dogs where ever i can,my previous dog was a shar-pei...an awesome guard dog (pretty much useless at anythin else).,the dog i had before that was staff...my reason for the staff was that i used to fish some dodgy places where tackle thefts were quite common....folk would cut yer lines at night and have it on thier toes with your rods and buzzers,in many cases anglers were waking only to be kn
  11. hi mate, lovely little dog, i got a plummer too, and he;s my fishin buddy ,brilliant little guard dog and as u say keeps the rats at bay....and doubles up as a nice little foot warmer on them cold winter nites...where u fish to?....im from the bath area?
  12. ive owned mine for 6months now....believe it or not im 38 only passed my test a year ago....insurance was my main reason for the vitara..400 quid fully comp with breakdown cover n all,for a new driver thats bloody cheap mate...i looked on go compare and cheapest firm was Ecar.the tank on a 16 fills for around 35-40 quid, and i guess around 40mpg average on road use....as was mentioned the sj are awesome offroad,i have 3 mates that own them and they wouldnt part with love nor money, they get to the places the big landies and disco's cant get to.....they also dont cost 130quid to fill like landies
  13. you are very correct my friend...it was indeed a very shit staffy...good bulldozer but thats all,it was built like a tank but i just saw it as fat and stupid,my mate didnt exactly shed any tears when he found it either,lol...oh well....shit happens.
  14. The shepherd ate the staff? yes mate, and this was a big staff too, but the alsation is a nutter, demolished the staff like it was a toy poodle.
  15. a few folk down here in the southwest use staffs as part of a ratting pack,to good effect too.they basically work alongside the terriers, the gang i go with have a mix of russels, patts whippet x and i have a plummer, the staffy is used as a kind of bulldozer,we rat some rough farm buildings where there is lots of old pallets, corrugated steel sheets, and general debris and rubble, the staff waits while the terriers mark,if the terriers cant get instant access,in goes the staff and drags all the crap out the way and in go the terriers, the staff will take his share of quarry albeit not as much as th
  16. just a few of Dill........great little dog, unfortunately didnt get his tail docked, comes from wyremead @ bodecia, his parents were sam and tanner.......my dog is mad a box of frogs....but a great companion.
  17. thought wremead was shut down ??........wasnt that shanes kennels??? (correct me if im wrong). i have a plummer mate, brilliant little dogs, i got mine predominantly for ratting as thats what i enjoy the most, although im hoping to get him on his 1st dig soon, hes only 2 so no immediate rush, anyway, excellent ratters, full of beans, extremely loyal breed, found mine to be a little bit yappy and preoccupied with branches but a swift dig in the ribs sorts that out......i would wholeheartedly recommend them as a breed, ive had russels and obviously they are fine too, just prefered the look of the plumm
  18. like stevie..i couldnt give a toss what the knockers say,as long as the dogs happy and im gettin a buzz too then dont matter what any other cock spits out.........good pics stevie,im still hoping to get my plummer out for his 1st dig this winter, not sure how its gonna go, im mainly into ratting which me and the dog enjoy, but i am keen to learn about digging, obviously ill post up here his progress as and when it happens........good on ya stevie, any dead fox is a bonus, wether it be from a pipe, earth or lamp.
  19. fantastic action by the looks of it mate, im also a plummer owner and they are brilliant at thier job,i must admit id never of thought about using the blower, we have always used chainsaw engines..have you had consistent results using the blower or was this just a lucky day?, if it works consistently then ill soon be parting with some cash and getting one in.........thanks for sharing the pics,i love photography and know it mustve been tough getting the rats jumping mid air........awesome stuff.
  20. very sensible approach mate.......ive never been fox digging before, ratting is my thing and i have an awesome little ratting plummer,i want to try also with digging.my cousin and mate have been doing for years so i would simply NOT go unless with experienced guys and their dogs.fortunately they offered me along when weather permits soon,i cant wait, hope the dog enjoys it too....nice to see some responsible guys on here like yourself making sure it gets done right before messing up badly...good luck fella.
  21. i agree, hanna makes sense,so do the last post, feck the rest of mate, too many keyboard warriors on this forum, you got sound dogs to breed from, then go for it,its your gig ,fill yer boots, if u can make a few bob back for your troubles then even better.........good luck.
  22. looks like a good day out mate, even more so with the machinery to give you a helping hand...you dont have to have hundreds of rats per trip to make it worth while, ive found weve had the best days on about a dozen or so rats, gets the dogs working and mooching harder and then you appreciate the rewards that little bit more.
  23. ive often wondered why ms Darcy.............i dont understand folks problem with the breed, great little breed of terrier, just the mention of them on here seems to get peoples backs up,usually people that have no 1st hand experience of them aswell.i just cant get my head round all the negativity.
  24. what you saying BBB ???..........just because he has a particular coat/pattern he'll be no good???? sounds a right crock to me.......if every bloody dog in the land had the same coat it'd be a pretty sad affair dont ya think?.......for some reason you just got a gripe with plummers..feck knows why, they are a terrier,a bloody damn good grafting dog, they look good, are very strong, brave and loyal.....whats your problem with coats forfecksake??? never heard anything so shallow in my life.
